Review titled Very poor

I enquired at the reception about travel vaccinations, the receptionist asked when I would be travelling and I told her in a months time, she just laughed and said your be lucky and you need 3 weeks to get it in your system, when I said it’s a month away she said the drs have much better things to do than that and I would need to go private. I do understand that the drs deal with a lot worse things and life threatning issues, but she almost made me feel it was unreasonable to ask and was more of a pleasure thing. So if someone walks in and asks for contraception is that not a similar thing!! Travel injections are important to not get unwell and bring infections back into the country. I’ve paid my national insurance for years have been lucky enough to of had good health, yet cannot get an appointment for this although it is available on the nhs. No wonder people don’t bother with vaccinations, cos you can’t get through the rude receptionist’s

Review titled In humane treatment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Venkat - Posted on 18 October 2023
Today is Tuesday and I was offered following choices - 1. If they have to give a triage appointment that will be for next Monday 2. I could go on econsult web site at 8 am tomorrow and enter details and the doctor will decide if they will see me or not or what to do next 3. I could go to Sidcup 24 hours gp, where they will see me today. My conclusion on Redwood Practice - 1. They claim they are inefficient by them saying a surgery some distance away can see me as walk in. I recognise the orther surgery may be 24 hours operation, but this practice is open most of the hours. How on earth they cannot accomodate someone for a few minutes triage? 2. If there is an opportunity for me to see a doctor if I go on at 8 am why not that oppotunity given to me when I called at 9:30 am? Makes you wonder how their operations. 3. They are a disgrace to our nhs. If they cannot see many patience better them transfering a large chunk of their customers to another surgery. I wonder if they paid for enrollment not the number of patients they see on a daily basis. If they are paid based on enrollment, this needs to change. Worldclass nhs is tainted by these surgeries. Update - Today is Wednesday - I went on to econsult sharp at 8 am as I was directed and entered all the details. I got a text at 10:55 am with a link to book appointment. At this point I am watching phone, so I immediately clicked on the link and the link showed 3 appointments. 1 for Today Wednesday 1 for Tomorrow Thursday 1 for Friday I clicked on the Wednesday and it will not allow me to take that. Then I tried Thursday it will not allow me to take that. It only allowed me to take Friday This booking system treats you inhumanely. I called the surgery and I was once again directed to Sidcup as they will see me immediately. It is shameful this surgery is even allowed to operate. They should not be allowed to take new patients if they cannot see people in reasonable time. If they are constantly directing people to go to a different surgery then why are they allowed to take in new patients.

Review titled Long wait times on Reception / appointment phone lines
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 September 2023
I have been waiting on the telephone hold que to reception for 2.5hrs so far..... this is very disappointing as only position 11 when I joined. I haven been trying to get access to reception for an appointment for a while now and its disappointing. The online tools via nhs app are also always turned off, its very frustrating.

Review titled Poor Receptionists
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Cedric Mitchell - Posted on 08 June 2023
Unfortunately I have had to visit the practice for treatment. Reception is poor in the extreme (whilst nurses and doctors are most helpful). Reception appear to value making a cup of tea more important than welcoming the patient. I have had wrong appointments made, left to wait whilst they make tea or chat, without any recognition of my presence. I’ve been with the practice for more than 40 yrs, unfortunately reception has become worse, they appear miss managed or unmanaged doing what is “comfortable” to their well being rather than the patient and service. Happy to discuss this in detail.

Review titled Poor
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Very difficult to get an appointment as it is Econsult only. The GP barely reads the econsult and gives advice without reading it properly. I understand GPs are stretched but there is a real lack of patient care at the surgery. I have been a member since 2020 and the GPs have never seen me in person. They were quick to tell me I was getting fat after filling in a form though and ignored the fact that I had sprained my ankle badly and could barely walk.

Review titled Poor practice
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been with this practice for over 40:years and it was a perfect one . However I have seen it slowly decline and everyone you talked to agrees. So much good this e consul is. This morning I was on the for over an hour and got to number 2 then got cut off. I rang again and same thing happened. It's a joke trying to get an appointment if you manage to get through the receptionist. Some of them are not that polite and can get very abrupt. And I do not agree to discuss with my them the reasons why I need to see the Doctor as they are not medically trained. They always asked why you need to see a Dr. Can only hope that this practice will improve to provide a better service for the community.

Review titled Unreliable practice

After been on the phone queue for 50 minutes, they don’t answer the phone, if you go there in person they are always talking and not caring for the person. I saw that personally, they don’t pick up the phone. It is a disgrace, we pay taxes for a service that doesn’t work. If they are not fit for the job they should leave the position to somebody else that is careful.

Review titled Poor administration / infant care
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by MISS H T BLAKE - Posted on 28 March 2023
There will infants missing routine care and immunisation because this practice does not book these in, parents must chase and beg for routine appointments. I was repeatedly turned away trying to book my sons 6 week check up (Apr 2022). When he developed a rash at 6 weeks I was then lectured by the receptionist about the risk I put my son at not calling it in as an emergency. He eventually received his routine check up at 13weeks. There was no communication from the practice regarding his 12m immunisation and when I called the practice at 12m2wk I was given an appointment for after 13m. The receptionists refuted NHS advice that it should be administered between 12 and 13 months. I suggested to the receptionist that the information she had to inform her should be reviewed, however she repeatedly said she's not technical and the nurse will fix it if there is a problem (she didn't seem to appreciate the nurse can't reverse time if the optimal window is missed). I feel that this first receptionist was not listening to me as she appeared to be talking to her colleague (with '14 years' experience) I was passed to this colleague to whom I summarised my reason for frustration, she could not then repeat back me any of what I had said. She said 'I do not really know what you're upset about'. She suggested I need to be mindful of the backlog they are dealing with from the pandemic and told me how grateful she is for the NHS... Implying I am not?!? On that note the care of doctors and clinical staff working at Redwood is exceptional, I am sad to be considering leaving the good medical care because of poor administrative management and obnoxious reception services. I recommend calls be recorded for training purposes.

Review titled A disgrace
Rated 1 star out of 5

Despite being told I would be contacted to confirm an appointment I have, again, been left without any contact from the practice. I was told on Monday I would be contacted later in the week to confirm an appointment for the following Monday. I hadn't heard anything by mid afternoon on the Friday so contacted the surgery to confirm. I was told I would be contacted later Friday to confirm. Needless to say, I still haven't heard anything and it is Saturday morning. I have booked Monday off work but have no indication as to whether I will be seeing a doctor or not. Not the first time this has happened. My confidence in this practice is non existent and it is incredibly unnerving to feel you don't have access to a Doctor. Why it takes over an hour to answer the phone is inexplicable to me. This practice is very poorly managed and I would certainly not recommend anyone tying to join. Very, very poor.

Review titled Still unable to contact them despite trying for 5 days
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2023
It is completely impossible to get through on the phone. I have tried repeatedly and been on hold for 90 mins plus. If you try to use e consult as an alternative, they tell not to and that you must ring, and even e consult is hard to use as they limit it every day and there are not enough slots! Now that they close reception at lunchtime I have no idea how a working person is supposed to get in touch. Why not allow contact online with a call back? Thsi wold be eaiser and less stressful for all concerned. I appreciate there may be staffing issues but why not put that on the recorded message ?
