Review titled Bad management and unhelpful receptionist
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 October 2024
I stood at the reception counter for quite some time and noticed that the receptionist was typing something. I knocked on the counter, hoping she would respond, but she ignored me. I assumed she hadn’t noticed me, so I continued knocking until she finally spoke with a grumpy expression, saying, "Would you wait for a minute?" Once she finally acknowledged me, I handed her my swab kit for a vaginal test. She asked me to write my name on it, so I wrote it on the swab kit cover. Then, she told me again that I needed to write my name on the actual swab kit. I was confused because her instructions were unclear. Why should I write my own name on the swab kit? Isn’t that something a GP or nurse should do? This process seemed so impractical. I pay NHS fees, not to write my own name on a vaginal kit. Since this was my first time doing this, I had no idea what to do, and there was no GP assisting me. The receptionist was not helpful at all. Afterward, I asked for a prescription for my contraceptive pills, as a previous nurse had instructed me to do so. However, the receptionist refused to give it to me, saying she needed to check with the on-call doctor to ensure everything was in order. I explained that I only had two pills left and couldn’t afford to miss any, but she insisted that she needed to speak with the doctor. I then asked if she would call me once the prescription was ready, and she simply repeated that she needed to check with the doctor. I left feeling confused and frustrated. I still don’t know if they will call me about the prescription, and if I don’t get my contraceptive pills soon, I’ll miss my birth control schedule. I also forgot to mention that I haven’t had my period in two months, but no one bothered to ask me about it. When I last consulted with a GP in July, she did ask about my period history, allowing me to explain everything that had happened. But today, everyone seemed so busy and rushed, as though they just wanted to get rid of me. My issues remain unresolved, and I’m very unhappy with how I was treated at Regent Medical Centre.

Review titled Fantastic practice, great Dr’s
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Amy-Jane Cherry - Posted on 21 August 2024
They’re clearly in high demand as waiting times for a call were a little long however as soon as I got through receptionists were super helpful and made sure I got a telephone appointment at least. Spoke with Dr over the phone 21/08 who wanted to see me and couldn’t have asked for a better appointment. Super helpful, reassuring and thorough. Really felt like she explored every option and wanted the best outcome for me. Despite squeezing me in she took her time to go through things with me, check me over thoroughly and come up with the best solution. A great credit to the practice and super happy since I’ve moved across to this GP.

Review titled Excellent Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Angela McGuinness - Posted on 05 June 2024
I have been a patient here for several years and must start by saying that all of the staff and practitioners are very professional, patient focused and helpful at all times. However I feel I must say something about a relatively new young (I am 70!) member of staff in the admin team who has impressed me with his maturity and attitude, already meeting the high standards I had come to expect and in particular in his handing of two difficult situations at reception. The first involved a patient who had arrived expecting to be able to get the same prescription he had had 3 years ago, without having to go to the bother of seeing a nurse or doctor. The second involved someone who had arrived for what they called a hospital appointment. It transpired that they were not registered at this practice and did not have their hospital appointment letter with them but they wanted the practice to access his medical records and tell him what location he should have gone to. In both cases E, in explaining why he was unable to accommodate their requests, remained absolutely calm, respectful, polite and composed. A particular aspect that impressed was that he stood up so that he was speaking on the same level as the visitor and talking eye to eye. He is an excellent asset to the team and I would expect him to enjoy a rewarding career. Kindest regards and thanks to everyone

Review titled Terrible service

My wife seen a doctor who said she needed to have a blood test and then complete a 2 week blood pressure monitor. She has had the blood test and Will start the blood pressure monitoring, but cannot get a appointment to the doctor for follow-up. Do the doctors not know that the reception will not allow you to make these appointments. The doctors and reception need to get their act together. Also her medication is on repeat but keeps saying they are under review so she will have to ring the reception to get them released. Why? She actually asked the reception to do this when she was in seeing the nurse, but they didn't do it. It seems that this practice is run for the benefit of the reception, not the patient. Everything is done to try to make it difficult for the patient.

Review titled Awful service lack of caring and urgency
Rated 1 star out of 5

For three weeks, I've struggled to book a follow-up appointment after a medical referral from Freeman Hospital. The merger with Broadway seems to have led to a decline in care. Despite explaining my inability to use the phone between 8 am and 5 pm, reception offered little help. Their solution was to call at 8 am or use an e-service from 9 am to 11 am, which is inadequate. This lack of empathy and assistance is unacceptable. I advise against seeking appointments here. This experience highlights systemic issues in healthcare, where bureaucracy often impedes patient care.

Review titled Appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely useless. Tried to make an appointment to see the doctor today to be told there are no appointments available for January 2924. Asked to ring back on 27th Dec in the hope that one will become available. They cannot deal with the patients they have yet they have a notice up asking for new patients. I have been with this practice since 1976, it has been getting worse over time, now it is so bad I will be changing Doctors.

Review titled No appointments

Called at 8am, waited over 45 mins to be told there was no appointments. Called to ask about information related to a up coming operation, was told to call the hospital for further information, when I asked if they could give me the number, was told to just Google it. Am off to A&E instead as its would be quicker to get seen.

Review titled Appointment system is horrendous
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023
The appointment system is horrendous! Surely the previous (pre-covid) system worked and was beneficial to everyone. You could book and appointment for a few days time and see a doctor. Everyone ringing at 8am is stupidity and no one is happy about it. Doctors are just being lazy, everyone else is back to normal working hours, why can't they?

Review titled The new appointment system will endanger lives
Rated 1 star out of 5

I work 7-5 Mon-Fri so I need to be able to pre-book an appointment and cannot wait the 3-4 weeks for these appointments. People just give up trying, I have been very worried about a condition now for 4 weeks, but it just seems like too much of a hassle to go through the rigmarole of the new appointment system. I finally got worried enough to ring. On and off it took my 2.5hrs to get though to the surgery whilst I was at work to be told there was no appointments for a month unless I rang on the day, I explained my work situation and was told this is the future and they won't be going back to the old (working) system. I'm really at a loss to see how this new system benefits anyone?

Review titled Telephone system awful
Rated 2 stars out of 5

When you ring, there is automatic message advising prescription accessibility and minor ailments to use 101/Pharmacy. Then if you require "same day GP appt", to stay on the line. With nothing mentioned for a "nurse" appointment or non urgent requirement. A very poor system. What about a press 1 or 2, so patients with urgent needs aren't competing with routine, but necessary visits.
