Review titled A special practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2024
I have been with the Ritchie Street Group Practice for five years now. I moved at a time when I was in the early stage of diagnosis of a serious illness and had lost faith in the previous practice. My experience with Ritchie Street has been consistently positive in all areas – medical treatment, routine testing, admin. To give a recent example: a stomach pain was investigated quickly and efficiently, and three different tests (including a CT scan) put in place before I had even left the surgery. I recommend them highly.

Review titled Good services
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by JPF - Posted on 13 August 2024
I had 2 consecutive appointments on 12/8/24 with a practice clinical pharmacist, and with a practice healthcare assistant, for my annual prescriptions medications check, and my annual health check. I was very pleased with the helpful, informative, wide-ranging checks, questions and answers and I will undertake various other tests and checks to follow up. I understand that my health depends on my own actions and behaviour - lifestyle, food, exercise etc. - as well as help, advice and action from healthcare providers, and I feel supported and encouraged by the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, receptionists at Ritchie Street Group Practice, and the links they have with other types of healthcare. I just wish it wasn’t so difficult and time-consuming to make an appointment by phone/online.

Review titled Very careful, feels well run and competent (and nice)
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Professor jean Seaton - Posted on 24 July 2024
1. I have two so far minor problems that nevertheless felt as if I needed a doctor to see me. Both telephone appointments and in person appointments were arranged swiftly and I saw two doctors both of whom were very clear and incisive and explained things very well. I felt secure in their judgement. They were very - careful and thorough and acted fast. 2. The reception - who are kind of gatekeepers - were very efficient and helpful. 3. while i was waiting to see a receptionist two young men came in one spoke good english and was translating for the other who got incandescent when he could not have an immediate appointment (but one 2 hours later...). The rest of us waiting patiently in turn felt pretty annoyed. They were both rude to the receptionist. I was struck by the firm authority and grace with which the young receptionists handled it. They felt well supported and we were all appreciative.

I was having complicated problems with Patient Access. One of the receptionists at the surgery arranged for me to meet an IT consultant who helped me out with aid from the staff. It was excellent service and I'm very grateful and now fuly linked up.

Review titled Poor new patient Registration
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 April 2024
I first registered online with this practice on Monday 22nd April. I called the surgery 3 days later as I hadn’t heard anything. I was told my application was never received. I was then Questioned as to why my chosen email address name is different from my Registered Name. I was confused. It was humiliating as I was made out to be a Fraud! I was advised to re-submit form and email separately. I did so however I am still waiting for a reply. I have long term serous medical issues and I am on regular medication. The reason I left my previous practice was because of the failure in duty of care and administrative care. It’s very frustrating for me to have to go through this at only in the registration process

Review titled Quick, careful, professional
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Professor Jean Seaton - Posted on 24 March 2024
I had a minor problem (hopefully being solved by anti-biotics) but it was getting worse and was perturbing and un-usual. I did an econsulation and very fast had a telephone call and that day an appointment with a very nice very careful and very communicative doctor. Then, right a the end of the day the pharmacy went out of its way to sort the prescription back from my usual chemist. Everybody (receptionist - the doctor with on a telephone consulation - the doctor I saw - the pharmecist) was efficient and attentive. I felt very secure that if a worse problem emerged the practice would be on to it and efficient.

Review titled My GP changed my liife
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Sharman - Posted on 05 March 2024
My GP changed my life. I am in my early 60's and with age, as we all know, things start to slow down and change. Ritchie Street Practice have good GP's despite all the issues the NHS face today. I think it was last year I was booked in with my GP and the advice she gave me changed my life. We discussed my condition and she told me to take these vitamins ( before this I always thought I could get my daily dose of vitamins through nutrition ) and just like that, my health started to change for the better. It's not that I don't know about vitamins because I have been in the health and fitness industry for the past 20 years. It was about the advice, the right kind of vitamins and where to get them. It's as simple as that, good no nonsense advice and straight to the point. I really can't thank her enough, she is a credit to her profession.

Review titled Unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 December 2023
Attended the surgery five minutes after appointment time. Having explained I had been delayed by accessible transport (I'm registered blind) and really needed to keep the appointment and that I had called ahead. The receptionist told me if you are late by 5 minutes, even if calling ahead, you will be marked 'didvnot attend'. The doctor refused to see me 5 minutes late despite being notified , and my journey having taken over 2 hours. To conclude the surgery is inflexible, unhelpful, and disappointing would Be reasonable.

Review titled Shocking treatment

I booked a smear, told doc it was overdue, they then cancelled me at the last minute with no follow up or explanation, saying book again. I then fainted and booked an appointment to find out why Im so ill. My appointment was 5pm, I got there at 5:10 to be told had I arrived at 5:08 I'd have been seen but I'm too late. Horrible surgery.

Dear Anonymous. Thank you for your post. Please do accept my apologies for the cancellation. This is probably due to the nurse calling in sick on that day. Reference your other complaint, again i know how frustrating it can be for patients when they arrive late and are not seen. However, it is unfair on other patients that have arrived on time and are waiting to be seen. I also appreciate that clinicians also can run late and this is frustrating for patients, again this cannot be helped sometimes. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact the practice. Regards Ash Ganger Practice Manger
