Review titled no help
by NATALIIA - Posted on 05 April 2024
I am struggling with the muscle pain almost 11 months, I am not able to walk without support, I have to use the walking frame, but even though I still have a huge painful cramps during walk, also I have these cramps during the night. I went to A&E but they sent me to GP as it was not the urgent case and my nightmare began.... GP considered it was side effect from the statins which I stopped taken on May last year. My blood test this March showed muscle inflammation as the reading was 3 times more of the normal level (previous one was 10 times more that normal level) but the Neurologist sent me back to GP without the proper diagnose and recommendation no treatment needed, go back to GP care. I went back to GP several times (it was the time when the appointments were available), my cholesterol level increased, my muscle pain getting worth but I was sent back with the recommendation to take pain relief pills which I am already using for the last 11 month every day. I heard nothing from Lipid clinic regarding a cholesterol level recommendation. My blood pressure began to increase and now I am not able to walk, I am not able to sleep, I am in pain because of my muscle, and now I am in pain because of my headache and blood pressure issue. I went to surgery yesterday to ask for the doctor's appointment and they advised me to go online as * we are currently struggling with capacity and are seeing high volume of appointment requests. We cannot promise how quickly our team will be able to contact you* I went online this morning and I've got the same answer by a phone message *we are currently struggling with capacity and are seeing high volume of appointment requests. We cannot promise how quickly our team will be able to contact you*. So what should I do? How to live, how to work? Any advise?

Review titled Short waiting time and friendly staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Bedford - Posted on 08 March 2024
Just my blood pressure test and a blood sample, should be quick and easy and it was! A two minute wait and then a friendly and obviously capable nurse performed the tests on me. A follow up is required and I have been given link to send back my measurements. A first time visit for me and the post code advised is about a 500 metres from the practice, perhaps a mention that the practice is opposite the chip shop would assist first time visitors.

Review titled From poor service to no service
Rated 1 star out of 5

It appears the practice has gone from compassionate to corporate with very unhelpful and bordering on rude reception staff The triage the practice followed does not allow for the patient’s current poor health and their new problem that usually results in a rejection regarding an appointment We were advised to go across the county to use a minor injury walk in centre for an elderly patient with an upper respiratory tract infection. This patient has multiple chronic illnesses After several problems with obtaining an appointment we were rejected once more with a text telling us it would be unsafe to give an appointment Fortunately 111 responded well and after another 20 mile round trip our out of hours service give an effective treatment We have a surgery a few hundred yards from our front door Perhaps the practice should at least go back to a telephone consultation and give the patient a more comprehensive triage with appropriate questions given to the patient by a healthcare professional with view more precise diagnosis Having the door continually closed in your face is no way to treat your patients

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with the service provided by the Practice. Riverport Medical Practice closely follows the British Medical Association guidance on Safer Working for General Practice. This means that once our capacity for the day is filled, it cannot be exceeded with additional patient appointments, as this would be unsafe. We therefore implement the provisions set out in the GMS Contract to offer alternative appropriate medical settings; which may a minor injury unit or NHS111. I am very sorry if the distance to alternative healthcare providers is too far. We too would like to see minor injury, or minor illness centre, available in the St Ives area to support our local population. If you have any further queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Practice. riverport.medicalpractice@nhs.net 01480 466611 For further input in Practice services, please ask our team about the Patient Participation Group. Review titled Waste of resources

Had an appointment booked beginning of February, got cancelled 10 minutes before as I hadn't had my blood pressure taken. Rebooked it for 2 weeks later, they never rang. Rebooked again (third appointment!), with over a weeks notice. They waited for the appointment date to tell me that I should have had bloods taken before the appointment and so this one will also be cancelled! I've waited over a month for a medication review for no reason other than a lack of communication. But also three appointments that someone else could have had. If you're wondering why you can't get an appointment this is why!!

Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Tina Gilmour - Posted on 22 February 2024
I had the quickest and easiest blood test at St Ives this afternoon that I've ever had. I hope I'm lucky enough to see this particular nurse again for any future blood tests
