Review titled Generally a poor experience

Let me start with a positive: the receptionists are kind and pick up the phones, they are patient when speaking to you on the phone which is very good for people like me who struggle with phone conversations. However, the doctor isn’t like that at all. I’ve seen numerous NHS doctors in the past, both in hospitals and in primary care, and they’ve usually been very caring people. But the doctor at this practice is very dismissive of health issues. He doesn’t give you time to explain yourself and speaks over you (which for people like me who struggle in explaining things on the phone is hell on earth). One time he even raised his voice at me for daring to question if he could have a look in person and the issue I’d been having. He says things like this is normal and you’ll just have to deal with it when you haven’t even finished explaining the pain you’re in and even the NHS 111 service tells you you need urgent help…so how is a GP telling you after 10 seconds on the phone that it’s just normal? How can a doctor make an assumption that something is normal after a (literally) 10 second discussion on the phone. Can we please please please have face to face appointments back? I had to beg him to refer me further and on my 5th or 6th appointment he finally referred me to the hospital and guess what? At the hospital I’m told that what’s happening to me is actually "very serious" and should not be happening. I felt like crying because I thought I could rely on my GP to protect my health instead of dismissing everything. And turns out I was right all along - I do have health issues that my GP was refusing to investigate. You expect to be able to trust and rely on your general practitioner and for them to be kind, approachable and most importantly attentive. But honestly, the last time I had an issue I went straight to urgent care (who were very helpful) because I just did not want to speak to this doctor again. It’s almost like I have some sort of PTSD of this practice and feel my stomach turning whenever I have to contact them again. I’m not the only person who feels this way either. The average score on Google Reviews for this surgery is 1.8/5 with tons of 1-star reviews confirming almost exactly what my experience has been. That is horrendous. And no this isn’t standard for GPs in the area - nearby Auckland Surgery is 3.7/5 and Portland Medical Practice is 4.3/5. So obviously something is really wrong at Robin Hood Surgery.
