Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 February 2025
Our family has been registered with Rutland House Surgery for the past 15 years, and we have consistently received excellent care. Since the merger, the surgery has expanded its services, making access to healthcare much more convenient. Recently, I needed an urgent appointment with a doctor. Instead of waiting on the phone to speak to reception, I was able to quickly fill out the online triage form with my concern. Shortly after, I received a call from a male GP assistant who assessed my needs and offered me a same-day appointment. This streamlined process made it incredibly easy to get the care I needed without any hassle. Additionally, the surgery now offers blood tests at both branches, saving time and making routine checks more accessible. The introduction of automated services—such as online triage for GP appointments, repeat prescription requests via email or apps, and travel vaccination requests through the website—has significantly improved efficiency and convenience for patients. The team at Rutland House Surgery is professional, responsive, and always willing to help. The improvements they have implemented have made a real difference, and we are truly grateful. I highly recommend Rutland House Surgery to friends and family!

Review titled Great Practice - Xmas lunch for the patient
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was invited to the Christmas lunch organized by the surgery today, and I feel so grateful. It’s remarkable how the surgery goes above and beyond for their patients—I’m not sure how many GP surgeries do this, especially for those who live alone. I deeply appreciate the care and thoughtfulness shown by the team. I will definitely recommend this surgery to my friends and family. Thank you again for the amazing service!

initially in june I thought this practise was going to be good as the receptionist were great and eager to help polite and friendly in June / July 2024 until I was told by reception their system had been hacked. What I found to date: upon writing to them about these matters I got an email saying it would take 28 days for them to reply Terrible social prescriber biased and cant do her job. No replies or correspondence from surgery *receptionist I spoke to on friday 6th dec rude and unhelpful * non treatment for traumas nor referrals. No help *Bad to poor service from your surgery * non appointment related texts messages as they are irritating and I asked several times not to do so

I had the pleasure of seeing Doctor when my child needed urgent care. Not only did Doctor see us quickly, but she also took time to nebulise my child, showing great care and attention. She is truly an asset to Rutland House Surgery and the NHS. Thank you!

Review titled After Queens Avenue - so very unimpressive
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Liz Thomson - Posted on 09 November 2024
Aside from a nurse for last year's flu jab (who didn't summon me back for a pneumonia jab when she returned from Nepal, as she'd promised) I've had no contact with the surgery. Many prescriptions have been late or messed up (a situation all too familiar to Muswell Hill Pharmacy) and a receptionist once suggested I go to A&E for a skin condition that just needed something stronger than is available over the counter. Disgraceful advice. (I was about to go abroad on assignment and she said "They have doctors in New York". I mean, who knew?) Recently I got a invited to go to my "annual blood test" - which implies I've been invited before! One bit of the result was texted to me with the recommendation to go on statins. "Please let us know if you would like to go ahead. Thanks, Rutland House Surgery". Would you like tea or coffee? I have never met any of the doctors and feel I should at least have been invited to discuss this! I would also like the full set of blood test results, not a texted highlight. Statins may well be a good decision (the pharmacist, who I respect, thinks so) but it shouldn't be a tick-box question. Just appalling. So I decided I'd send an email setting about my thoughts and questions and asking for a discussion - face to face or online. That's when I saw the absurd form with all its options - but the one for non-urgent advice wasn't available. So different to Queens Ave where doctors answered queries themselves, online or by phone. I have great sympathy for the NHS, run down by the Conservatives, but it lack of money and resources doesn't excuse everything. And what happens if you're old and/or not tech-savvy? Why not go the whole hog and replace the doctors at Rutland House with artificial intelligence?

Review titled Easy appointment system
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I’ve found the Total Triage system at Rutland House Surgery to be incredibly efficient. No more long waits on the phone to speak with a receptionist or explain why I need an appointment. Instead, my request goes directly to a doctor who reviews it and gets back to me the same day. It’s quick, easy, and feels like my health concerns are being prioritized. Great system!

Review titled Lack of empathy
Rated 1 star out of 5
by anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2024
I have been in this surgery for over 15 years, but unfortunately, yesterday's encounter with the receptionist left me feeling unwelcome and disheartened. Despite my distress during the call, she said that I could not get an appointment unless I disclosed the reason I needed to see the doctor, which contradicts my understanding that such a matter is personal. I was not comfortable disclosing this information. Even when I explained my situation, she seemed dismissive due to the pressure, stating that no appointments were available. I explained that it was not a routine results check, but she was unwilling to hear. This left me audibly tearful and frustrated. She stated that the doctor would, therefore, call me later on that day. When I followed up later that day, the new receptionist was unaware of the request for a callback, as the earlier receptionist made no record. I was so upset and frustrated, and he said because of a cancellation, he would book me for a call, which I received at the end of the day. The receptionist's behaviour not only reflects poorly on the individual but also leaves a lasting negative impression on my overall experience. No one should feel obligated to tell the reason for your call to get an appointment. As far as I am aware, it goes against patient-doctor confidentiality, and experiencing such pressure left me feeling upset.

Dear Patient, I'm truly sorry to hear about your upsetting experience at the surgery. It's understandable how encountering such challenges after being a patient for so long can be disheartening. Your feelings of being unwelcome and pressured are valid, and, unfortunately, the receptionist's behaviour didn't align with your expectations of confidentiality and empathy. We ensure that patients feel respected and supported throughout their interactions. MJ Rahman Practice Manager
