Review titled How do you get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023
I called to make an appointment and I am on hold for 30 mins to be told no appointments left. I asked to book One for any day or the week after and the answer is no appointments and to call another day. This is not possible for people working full time. How many people are going undiagnosed of potentially serious conditions because of this surgery?

On the day demand is very high currently. Our same day/urgent lists open at 8am for the morning list and 1pm for the afternoon list. These are for new (acute) conditions that need to be discussed clinically. To book routine face to face or telephone appointments or speak to a member of our Patient Contact Team, other times of the day are quieter on the telephones. Please email bswicb.smp@nhs.net if you would like to discuss further. Kind regards, SMP

Review titled Are they fit for purpose?
Rated 1 star out of 5

No appointments available. Call back tomorrow after 10am. Hope to have some more released by then but can't promise anything". My family has used this practice since it opened. It used to be very good. Now there is almost zero service. It's very sad and frustrating. Question - what services are you offering? I note that you are still accepting new patient registrations. Why?

Our same day/urgent telephone appointments are released at 8am for the morning list and 1pm for the afternoon list. These are for a new (acute) conditions. Routine face to face and telephone appointments are released throughout the day at different times (automatically by the computer system). We are currently looking at different ways to reduce telephone demand and have started to offer many Nurse appointments bookable online, via an invitation to book. We are also planning to introduce GP face to face appointments bookable online soon. New patient registrations must be accepted as part of our GMS contract, we cannot close our lists. If you would like to discuss this further, please email us - bswicb.smp@nhs.net with your name and date of birth. Kind regards, SMP

Review titled Telephone Availability
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I waited 27 mins today on the telephone where I was number 15 in the queue, waiting to cancel an appointment. I wonder how many people just wouldn't bother and an appointment would be wasted? More options to do these simple administrative tasks online would be good, or more staff answering the phone please.

Thank you for your comments - when you telephone the practice you would have heard nine different options. The only option that tells you what position you are in the queue is the option to speak to our Patient Contact Team. However, you would have heard an option before this to cancel your appointment. This gets you straight through to a voicemail with no waiting time. We look forward to you using this option in the future. Kind regards, SMP

Review titled Nothing is too much trouble
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mr A Lucas - Posted on 03 November 2022
I was reluctant to contact the surgery only because they are so thorough and considerate that I didn't want to add to their burden. They couldn't have made me feel more like my health was their prime concern. I was contacted by an extremely pleasant Dr on the same day. He managed to allay anxieties and effectively diagnose and prescribe over the phone. What a service, I couldn't ask for more! I honestly don't know how they manage to maintain service at this level and consider myself very lucky to be on their books. This isn't the NHS I recognise from media reports.

Review titled Unable to help, when the practice caused the problem
Rated 2 stars out of 5

The practice have lost part of my medical records which leaves me unable to work. This could have been resolved by a simple blood test but they would not allow me to speak to a doctor for over a week and half - in the meantime I am unable to work as I cannot provide proof of all my vacinations. They could not bend the rules on same day telephone consultations as this was not a medical emergency despite the fact that the practice has lost the information which has now not allowed me to work for the NHS. Totally inflexible and uncaring about my financial circumstances which has been caused by them. The poor person on the phone was forced to be 'patronising saying the understood my frustration but there was nothing they could do to help'. Do not use this practice unless you can tick a box on a form. There is no account for personal circumstances. I have worked for the NHS for 22 years and am now not able to work due to their attitude to a problem they created.

Review titled Efficient, Caring and professional GP
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rhys - Posted on 01 November 2022
It really is a fantastic GP, well organised and caring, they always get you the help you need. You feel fear from all the cuts to the NHS, I’ve witnessed first hand the ambulance shortage and it was terrifying. But this practice is a real port in the storm. They take care of long term conditions, short term illness and mental health with the same sense of urgency and care. You just feel like they have your back and will keep you safe as the country goes mental. Reception staff who a traditionally monsters at doctors are actually really nice, hear you out and treat you with dignity. I’d be proud to work there. Thank you.

Review titled Caring treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steph - Posted on 10 November 2022
I had been suffering with joint pain for a while - after a consultation a few months ago I had booked in for the recommended treatment yesterday. The treatment was given promptly - seen on time for my appointment - caring staff - good advice. Have never had a problem getting an appointment here, even when the phone lines have been busy - sometimes just a bit of a wait for someone to answer but that’s to be expected. Staff always willing to listen and advise. Great practice.

Review titled Many years of great service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Glenys Waite - Posted on 11 November 2022
I have been a patient of Salisbury medical practice for forty years and it has never failed to serve myself and my family well. The telephone triage system is an ideal way of rapid GP contact for more urgent problems and has always resulted in either a prompt often same day face to face appointment or prescription sent to the pharmacy. The medical and administrative staff are always friendly and helpful. To quote an elderly relative that I took for a recent appointment ' I couldn't have a better GP, we are so fortunate ' .
