  1. Review titled Terrible Practice

Firstly, I am amazed to find that they are still accepting nee patients s they cannot deal effectively with the ones they already have! Has a scan recently as requested by the doctor. Waited weeks for some results. I had a scan on the 30th December, and discovered that the results were received at the surgery on the 9th January that’s 9 days after including a bank holiday. 2 weeks later I had still heard. so I contacted the surgery to ask what is happening. Later I got a text that said they had the results but they would not be reviewed by a doctor! They offered to print a copy for me to collect….. Amazed by this inefficient and uncaring approach. I then asked: a. as I was originally sent for the scan by a doctor at the surgery why would they not review it and then advise me about any further action? When i phoned earlier this week I was told the results were delayed as it was waiting for a review by a doctor! b. If it is not reviewed why have I not been sent this letter much earlier and why did it need me to ask? c. Notwithstanding all of the above, why not send it by email or via this secure system? 2 weeks later and no reply. Tried for the last 2 weeks to get an appointment without success. System made worse by their insistence that you have to phone after 1000 to get an appointment and that is only for 2 weeks ahead. If no appointments available you have to phone the next day and so on. This means at best their receptionists waste time answering repeated calls every day when if they offered appointments further ahead it would only need to single call. They need to get some full time doctors working there instead of all the part timers. Awful place and made worse by me not having any other choice.

  2. Review titled Lack of appointments

by Frances Elizabeth Low - Posted on 16 June 2024

2 weeks ago, I rang the surgery 4 times to try and get an appointment as I had a swollen ankle, pain and found problems walking and keeping my balance. The 1st time, I got a telephonist who sounded bored and just said there were no appointments available for 2 weeks and to ring again tomorrow. He offered no explanation. I tried the next day and was 28 in the queue so gave up. Then the weekend, tried again on Monday, message saying all appointments for 2 weeks gone. Try again tomorrow. I tried again and spoke to a pleasant lady who said no appointments for 2 weeks unless urgent. What is urgent? In my judgement I needed to find out why I was in pain and likely to fall. She gave me a physio appointment for 2 weeks ahead and advised me to try again. I said it doesn't work unless you can sit by a phone at 10am every day. I cannot do that as I have commitments. Anyway, she said to try Lewes Hospital urgent care unit. I did that, waited about an hour, saw a doctor who examined my leg and gave a diagnosis. It seems ridiculous to have to go to another doctor to see anyone. I was taking up time that others ay have needed because the surgery was not taking sufficient appointments. it is worrying when you are older.

  3. Review titled Caring and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son has been experiencing a few health problems recently and the receptionists have gone out of their way to ensure he sees a doctor and have helped me to find appointments around work and school. The GP we saw today is absolutely wonderful, he put my son at ease and explained everything clearly. We felt really cared for. I’m really happy with this surgery, the nurses here have always been great and the culture amongst the office staff and GP’s definitely improved since the practices merged.

  4. Review titled Poor aftercare and communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I left a referral form for a remedial exercise class to help with recovery to be signed by the doctor after hip surgery. I was not told this was a private form and only after 3 separate conversations was I told it had been in the doctors tray for 10 days and could take 6 to 8 weeks to be signed. Both the practice manager and supervisor just quoted the company line with no attempt to actually resolve the situation. Obviously waiting 6 to 8 weeks to sign a form to help with recovery is defeating the objective. A very disappointing experience at Saltdean surgery.
