I spoke to a receptionist approx 6 months ago requesting my meds be increase to a higher mg after seeing my hospital consultant some months earlier, he said he would write to me and my Dr regarding this. I received my letter. 3 months later after receiving my letter I spoke to the receptionist regarding this and was told “the Drs would do it in their own good time”. I now find 6 months later all my meds have been removed from the on line prescription order service and every month I have to put a request in the box. The service the surgery provides at this moment in time is pretty appalling. I work in the hospital as a nurse and am well aware of how hard it has been over the past 2 years, but continued to work through out providing an excellent level of care to the patients, unfortunately this cannot be said of Sandgate Road surgery.

  2. Review titled Repeat problems with repeat prescriptions

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Referred to Surgery by PsychUK for monthly prescription of Medikinet just over 4 months ago. Of the 4 occasions I have needed my prescription to be completed, the surgery was unable to fulfil 3 of them without repeated contact first. After a delay and several visits to unblock an earlier prescription (form not passed on my receptionist, etc), I was told to direct all future requests to a named member of staff. After doing this last Thursday 15 Dec, I was informed this evening (Wed 21 December) that this staff member had not been in the office since last week so the form was probably "sitting on her desk". The receptionist (the same one who took the form from me last week and assured me it would get to the person authorised to approve the form and whose name was clearly written on the form) offered to get the prescription approved and sent to the pharmacy tomorrow. As has happened on 2 separate occasions previously, I discovered that the prescription had not been passed on after visiting the pharmacy 3-4 working days after handing in my form, which then necessitates in-person visit to attempt to resolve. I have no confidence that this will be done without another visit to the surgery tomorrow to chase/follow up. I am aware of the strain that medical services are enduring under this government and fully support any and all calls for correcting this situation. My experience today and over the last few months, however, looks simply like carelessness and a disregard for patients. Surely, a more robust process for ensuring that prescriptions are approved and issued in a timely manner regardless of certain members of staff being present or not to authorise them must exist?

  3. Review titled Useless practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Set alarm to fill out their eConsult form. 7.59 click button…all apts gone try again at 8am today. 8am…all apts gone try again at 8am tomorrow! 8.01 try calling, all apts gone. What is the point of a Dr if you can see them when you’re sick? This practice is either severely over subscribed/under resourced (yet still advertising for new patients) or severely mismanaged. I suspect both. Either way all they do is basically put everyone to 111 and put pressure there.

  4. Review titled Unable to get through.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Been ringing every morning at 8am for 4 days because I have asthma and have developed a chest infection and needed antibiotics. Kept getting cut off and was informed at 8.10am that appointments were fully booked. This happened daily. My chest is extremely tight and sore as is my throat due to continuously coughing. It shouldn't be this hard to get to speak to a GP, or to simply request a prescription for antibiotics. This surgery is taking on new patients, yet it cannot manage or treat people who have been with them for a long time.
