Review titled Faultless and efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 July 2024
I have been with Scarborough Medical Group for around 9 years and have never had an issue with accessing any of their services. In this time I have had 2 children who have always been seen promptly if needed, one evening the Doctor stayed open late so I could take my son to be examined as it was right on closing time. For what the surgery must deal with day in day out and the current strain on NHS services I can honestly say I’ve never experienced anything other than brilliant care. All the staff members I have been in contact with have been nothing but friendly and their online service seems to be ran exceptionally well, I used the accuryx service this morning regarding a new medical problem for myself and have been dealt with efficiently and given a prescription to collect from my local chemist later today. Thank you to everyone at both Scalby Road and South Cliff surgery, I think you are all amazing and I highly recommend the surgery.

Review titled Patient despair at poor responses from my surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5

For a patient, trying to contact Scarborough Medical Group often seems like banging ones head against a brick wall, for the following reasons. (1) after completing registering as a new patient, I visited my nearest branch of SMG at least 2-3 times just to obtain a password for logging on to SystemOnline. The admin staff apparently expected me to go to a more distant surgery to collect my password in person. After finally consenting to send my password to the surgery where I had registered, I logged on using the password, only to find that the next day, the password no longer worked – someone (in admin?) had reset the password. After contacting them again, they emailed me with a new password – which worked. (2) Contacting the surgery by phone normally involves a 5-10 wait merely to speak to the operator. The SystemOnline doesn’t let me email the surgery, though the SMG email pro forma does – but without any certainty it will reach my chosen surgery. (3) After being told that one of my regular prescription medicines is no longer available, I visited the surgery to ask if a substitute was available (at the pharmacist’s suggestion). But the receptionist on duty merely said: “It’s beyond our capacity”, and made no attempt to contact a GP on my behalf. (4) I have tried to contact the Practice Manager no fewer than four times (by email twice, by phone, and by letter) but each time, I have received no response. I do not consider this is satisfactory.

Review titled Poor, still hiding behind the Pandemic rules.
Rated 1 star out of 5

Been on the phone for well close to 65 minutes now just waiting or someone to pick up, after being told I was No 10 in the call queue. The wait times are disgraceful, both for someone to answer the phone and for appointments if you are lucky enough to get to see a GP. This place is still hiding behind the long gone Covid Pandemic and use it as an excuse for their incredibly poor service. How they are allowed to carry on working in this way is a joke. I would not recommend SMG, and if I could get in elsewhere, I would have done so long ago.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry you have been in the call queue for an exceptional length of time. This wait time has not been reported to us by our call monitoring system so we will look into this further and understand if there have been any issues raised today. I am sorry you are unhappy with the service you have received from us. We do have a complaints procedure should you wish to provide further detail and we can then investigate the problems you are having and provide a more thorough response to you. Please contact us with your name and date of birth at the following email address and we will be able to look into this matter: hnyicb-ny.smg@nhs.net Kind regards Scarborough Medical Group

Review titled Terrible communication
Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice is a complete shambles. Terrible communication. Very difficult to get to a GP. They send prescriptions for things you know nothing about and make referrals without telling the patient!
