  1. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Poor communication. - Posted on 11 December 2024

To start with the endocrinology department at the hospital had communicated with the surgery to request a review of my medication as a matter of urgency. I waited two weeks before attempting to contact the surgery. This should have been actioned without me needing to get in touch but that’s what I’ve coke to expect from this surgery. There are no ways of communicating other than through the telephone line. No online option. No email. I tried it b several occasions to speak with someone (as a matter of urgency). I finally had no choice but to persist today. I called and was told I was number one in tbt queue. I waited more than half an hour to speak with a receptionist who made me feel like I was washing her time and that waiting for two weeks for this to be reviewed was more than acceptable. Honestly I’ve found this surgery and its staff to be incompetent at best. This experience is the last straw Doctors lack compassion and knowledge. I’m moving to another surgery

  2. Review titled Bad experience when 111 online referee me to this practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Dorian Leakey - Posted on 19 May 2024

In the morning of 18/5/24 I used 111 online to get help with a probable UTI, I was told I would get a callback in six hours, after that long a non clinical staff member called me to apologise and ask a few questions so they would know how to prioritise me. Fair enough, this member of staff was great, very clear and understanding with a warm telephone manner, which I suspect will be seen as a negative by whoever runs the place. They didn't call back till gone 2am, I tried answering but I think they only let it ring a few times. They then tried again at 4.20 am and then discharged me as I hadn't answered the phone. That is pretty unreasonable. Now onto me looking on their website to give feedback, they offer a button saying g negative experience which says form closed if you press it, if you choose thepositive experiences button it takes you hear. It does not offer the chance to give feedback directly to the surgery. This is childish and preposterous, just invite the positive and negative feedback and don't pretend only positive is valid.

  3. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 June 2024

Requested a prescription gave them a week to send it to the pharmacy and it’s still not there. Then had to wait over an hour on the phone, and trust me I’ve been sat in an empty surgery the phones are constantly ringing and the receptionists are gossiping ignoring the phones, to get them to send the prescription over asap as some of husbands medication was running out. Sometimes it’s a waste of time asking for what you need they only send what they can be bothered to send they don’t care if it’s essential medication and the patient suffers. Nice swanky new building pity the standard of service is now diabolical

Dear Patient I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the service provided. We have a team of Receptionists that work in a back office, not visible to the waiting room, answering the phones; we recognise that we have busy periods where it may take longer for your call to be answered and during periods of staff shortages. We are hoping to upgrade our telephone system by providing a call back functionality. If you would like to discuss your concerns further please contact the surgery either by phone or via the feedback form on our website so that we can discuss what happened with your Husbands prescription on this occasion. Yours Sincerely Severnside Medical Practice

Many thanks to the locum Dr who handled my issues earlier today - he was patient; listened and was very diligent. Thanks to him I am sorted and settled and have clarity both about my medication going forward and the way forward. Thank you very much Dr, enjoy your well deserved weekend :)

  5. Review titled Poor

It’s impossible to get through, drs provide the wrong information to you regarding how the practice actually works. You’re told to only consult with one dr, but it’s nigh on impossible to see that same dr. You have to set aside an hour when calling through to try to even get a phone call appointment and even then there’s a possibility that you get hung up on and have to start again, appointments in person tend to be a 2-3 month wait, phone call appointments with a chosen dr can be weeks, if not months. The only quickest way to get seen or speak to reception is to visit in person. The removal of the online facility of asking questions adds to the dismay of using this practice. It’s why so many people from this practice end up using out of hours in the hospital instead.

Thank you for your feedback and I apologise that you have found it difficult to get through to us on the phone. We do have busy periods which can be impacted by staff absences. We are hoping to upgrade our telephone system in the near future to enable a call back functionality to save patients having to wait in a queue. We have also recruited a new team member in the reception team to help improve our capacity for answering calls during our busiest periods. We have increased our on the day capacity throughout the week for routine and urgent needs and we now offer Saturday Nurse appointments. We will continue to review our access aiming to make further improvements where possible. Severnside Medical Practice

  6. Review titled Faultless

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hollie Jones - Posted on 20 December 2023

Working in a GP surgery myself, I know it’s not very often you get to hear the good things, so I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful job you’re doing. I rang this morning with an incredibly sore throat, querying tonsillitis and after a 15 minute queue on the phone (understandable given I rang at opening), I was given a same day telephone triage appointment. Your paramedic rang (I forgot his name, sorry!) within 20 minutes of me having spoken to reception, and issued penicillin and worsening advice. Less than an hour from phoning to treatment - absolutely faultless! Especially at such a busy time of the year. Thank you and hope you all have a restful Christmas and New Year.

  7. Review titled Always helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The best practice I have ever been registered with. Extremely helpful and understanding receptionists, nurses/doctors. The only downside is trying to get an actual face-to-face appointment. In the first instance it's a lucky dip when phoning first thing in the morning. Then you get a date for a "phone consultation" which is no good to man nor beast. I haven't seen my doctor for years. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the issues the NHS are going through and I do love our NHS! They deserve better. But how does a chat on the phone compare to a face-to-face appointment? It doesn't. I get the precautions due to Covid-19 but hasn't that eased? I, for one, wouldn't mind if I had to wear a face mask. In the reception area the "social distancing" could still be put into practice. So bring back the days of actually seeing your wonderful doctor and not just a voice over the phone. Please!!

Thank you so much for your comments and positive feedback. We are constantly reviewing the way we manage the huge demand of our services and find that by offering more telephone appointments we are able help more patients. A lot of the issues presented by patients can be dealt with easily over the phone and our GPs may also ask for photographs of things like skin rashes etc to aid the consultation. Anyone who has a consultation via the telephone will be booked a face to face appointment if the GP feels this is required. We do offer face to face appointments routinely but understand the wait for these are a little longer. Best wishes Severnside Medical Practice

  8. Review titled Unable to book an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by William Tomlinson - Posted on 17 July 2023

After receiving a letter from the gastroenterology dep at gloucester hospital requesting a blood test to be taken this week by my GP (beginning 17th) for analysis prior to my appointment with them on the 15/08/23, I rang sevenside medical practice to book the blood test requested only to be told there were no appointments available for the foreseeable future and certainly not this week. This is evidently lack of duty of care on the part of sevenside medical practice.

  9. Review titled Excellent practice and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by M Parker - Posted on 27 June 2023

I have joined Severnside practice in the last 6 months and they have been brilliant, yes you have to phone for emergency appointments, but they see you within 24-48 hours. Also excellent standard services and appointments, I got half an hour menopause appointment which was a huge help. All the staff from reception to specialist nurses and Drs have been wonderful to deal with. Cannot recommend this practice enough.
