Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Verity - Posted on 28 August 2024
I have been with the practice for almost five years and the care that my partner and I have received has never been anything less than excellent. So far we have always got through to the surgery when we have phoned, and have been given an appropriate and timely appointment. I cannot think of a single occasion where we have not felt helped or listened to by any member of the team from the reception staff to the GP. In July this year I had emergency surgery which was quite straightforward by all accounts. But my recovery was awful. I has been discharged from hospital with no information and, as I was feeling so dreadfully ill, I contacted the surgery several times over a five week period for advice and support. I cannot fault that care and support. Every member of the team who I had contact with was amazing, and I can't thank them enough. I am a health care professional myself, but I also have a mental health diagnosis, so I can overthink things and feel anxious. I am very grateful for the support I received. I have an understanding of the difficulties encountered in getting through to some surgeries, let alone getting an appointment. There will always be people whose experience is not so good. But I have to speak as I find. I have never had an issue at this practice, and I hope it continues to provide an excellent service.

Review titled Bad people skills from front of house
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 April 2024
You could book an appointment via the app for routine appointments. Now that choice has been removed away from patients. For me I have extreme anxiety so calling up to book an appointment is impossible. I had asked the receptionist a week ago when can we book appointments again and she said within a few days. This was nonsense. I had also had some bloods back and on my app it had said “at the very least a phone call.” As it is now life altering, they put me down for a call within a month. Because of the app I had requested an appointment within two weeks and finally got my diagnosis. The issue with this practice isn’t the doctors. In my opinion they go above and beyond. My GP explained to me my new diagnosis in great detail. The issue is the receptionists are overly loud sand not very discrete. They told lies about the app appointment system. Like myself, so many people rely on seeing what dates, times and doctors are free ahead of time. Offering the patient flexibility, freedom and time. It was a quick way to book as opposed to waiting often twenty minutes to book a routine appointment. Hurry up and bring it back please. This is utterly diabolical. Especially to your patients with extreme anxiety, adhd, asd and other disabilities!

Review titled Excellent practice

With my recent sciatica and arthritism flare up I've been seen by the professional on the same day. Both reception and medical staff dealt with my problem in excellent, professional and caring manners. Being in so much pain, while waiting to be seen by the doctor, the receptionist was checking on me every few minutes and making sure I'm comfortable. When called to the doctors room, the care I received was absolutely brilliant. I have been with the same problem recently few times and every single time was the same, not any trouble to help me the best they can. Great surgery with amazing team !

Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dawn Gennard - Posted on 13 September 2023
I have been a patient of this practice for around two years. Since joining, I have received amazing care from all the doctors I have seen. They are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and totally professional. They take time to listen to your concerns and act on them accordingly. Whenever I telephone or visit the practice the reception staff are always very pleasant and extremely helpful. I cannot praise Shawbirch Medical Practice enough, they are a credit to the medical profession and the NHS

Review titled False assesment
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by David J Carter - Posted on 31 May 2024
On the 10th July 2023 my wife and I phoned for an appointment which was granted and we attended. My wife was suffering with chest pains and vomiting mucus and blood. After a very quick examination she was pescribed with a basic course of antibiotics, I asked if a chest Xray would be possible as these symptoms are recurring but was told No. My wife died on 28th July 2023 with a chest condition Pneumonia, surely if a more thorough her death may have been avoided she was only just 51 years of age.

Review titled Very bad
Rated 1 star out of 5

Messed up a 7 months old prescription about 6 times within the space of two months. Bare in mind these prescriptions are pretty life dependent at this moment in time and then when I said about it they tried to say that it’s an easy mistake for one item and for the other item were hinting I didn’t put the prescription through when I know for a fact I did. No apology from anyone just a defensive conversation on their behalf. Wouldn’t recommended whatsoever. To add to the list. When my son was first born I couldn’t bend my leg rang about it to then be asked by reception if it was important enough to come in and the doctor himself said he wanted to check it wasn’t a blood clot! I’m unsure why it’s raved about it’s a shocking gp practice
