Review titled One of the worst
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023
It's no-one's fault that booking is in high demand, but what I find impossible to understand is that when someone needs medication, that's running out, to the point that the person is rationing them (which they should not and should not have to do), there should be a way other than "try again at 8 am tomorrow morning", or "you can book online too". You go online, and this silly form has a drop down list with only one item "web bloods". It is frustrating as hell. We only need a 5 mins chat with a doctor to give the go-ahead for medication someone has been taking for years and which they need in order to function. Why is it impossible to book a 5 mins phone conversation? What does the doctor even need to say , other than "your condition is chronic, this medication treats it, I am happy for you to continue taking it"? Why do we need to go through this idiotic rigmarole every 2 months? It actually worsens the person's condition. This cannot be right! A lot of this is not the practice's fault - there is something fundamentally wrong with requesting a review every two months for a condition that has been the same for literal years. However, what *is* the practice's fault is the hair trigger of the receptionists. Even when you speak to them calmly and with respect, they always seem ready to find something you said offensive. Jesus!

Review titled No EpiPen!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2023
EpiPen expired and when I call for an appointment, it says too many people in the queue so I can't even make an appointment. This happened so many times that my EpiPen has run out. I am due to do abroad and at risk of anaphylaxis because I can't make an appointment, as line is always inundated.

Review titled Struggle to get emergency appointment
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2023
There are no dr's appointments online available on the last two occasions in April 2023 when I have needed one. Phoning in March 2023 for an emergency appointment I start dialling Just before 8am chimes, but somehow others have already taken all the calls available. I just keep frantically phoning and in between the answer message telling me they're inundated, I did on the last ocassion manage to slip in at number 20. Not always so lucky. Mystified at the apparent 5* reviews about getting so easily! I can't remember when that last happened. If I do get through they've always been pleasant and helpful, but a shame for the pressure both sides are under.

Review titled Telephone Queing System
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 December 2022
The telephone system lets the surgery down. Over 20 callers have to ring later which I did 3 times on 21 Dec 22. On the 4th attempt I joined the caller queue, worked my way to caller no 1. No one picks up the phone and instead the phone rings on and on. No option but to put the phone down and start again. This happend 5 times in the morning and when I manged to speak to the receptionist I was told all appointments had gone and was told to try after 1.00. Guess what? Yes, same problem in the afternoon. Its 1.35 in the afternoon and after 3 times making my way with caller queuing system the phone cuts off or it rings forever. Undoubtedly the surgery is busy because of Xmas period but today's experience clearly demonstrates there is a major problem with the telephone system.

We are sorry that your experience has been less than satisfactory. The Practice always aims to provide a caring and approachable environment. We understand and are aware that the volume of calls coming into the Surgery is incredibly high. I don't know if it would be of any help but please be aware there are Online apps you can register for and can book appointments on line. The NHS APP proves popular with patients, you should be able to register for the NHS App services with out Surgery help, the registration process should be simple. Kind regards

Review titled Surgery at maximum capacity
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2023
Have been a patient here for 49 yrs. Whilst the GPs and staff are very good, unfortunately they are stretched to their limits & it is extremely difficult to get an apt. The telephone apt. system isn't efficient; they need to rethink the best way to offer apts. One issue I have is people in Full time work like myself, who may need before/after work apts, are battling pensioners for the same slots, who can see a GP any time. I understand they are a vulnerable group, but perhaps apts. between, say, 8-10am and after 17:00 should be reserved for those in Full Time employment.

Thank you for your comment. We value your feedback regards the phones and the issues patients are facing getting an appointment. One way to alleviate this issue was the introduction of the NHS APP (There are other apps available) where patients can book appointments through their phone/tablet etc. Please search https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app - registration is usually straight forward and you shouldn't need the Surgery's help with registering - if you do please contact/visit the surgery for more help. We also hold early morning surgery appointments as well as appointments late into the afternoon. Kind regards

Review titled Can't get an appointment. Time wasting system !! Appalling
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2022
I rarely call to see a Dr, but I am appalled and dismayed at the awful service from Sherwood Medical Practice. Called several times to get an appointment, when I eventually got through to the receptionist at 12.22pm today I was promptly told to call back at 1pm for an appointment this afternoon. I called at 2 minutes to 1 to get through the options and advised by pre recorded message that phone lines were at capacity and to call back later. I guess everyone was told to call back at 1pm!! Why????? This is ludicrous. They are quick to send me reminders and texts to get the covid/ flu jabs, but not interested in real health issues. No wonder so many people are dying from cancer and suicide. You need to sort yourselves out!!! I pay my national insurance. This is a basic service to be able to see a GP. What is going on?????????

Hello, We are sorry that your experience has been less than satisfactory. While we realise that the event has passed now with regards an appointment for the day in question, we hope you have you managed to get an appointment now? May we make you are of the following - If you have internet access there are APPS available that you can download onto your phone to allow you to book online appointments here at the Surgery. The NHS APP is proving popular with patients you can book on the day appointments and in advance appointments. On the day appointments do go quickly though. You might find the following link useful - https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/ Registering is free and providing you can send suitable documentation to them electronically setting up the App is simple and straight forward. If you wish to discuss the issues in more detail please contact the Surgery. Kind regards

Review titled Reception staff ruin this practice.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Greg Homann - Posted on 13 December 2022
This practice is barely fit for purpose as a result of their reception. Do not join it like I did. You will waist hours on hold and will then be met by abrupt staff who treat you with little regard. I simply do not understand why the reception staff can't speak to their patients in a more kind and friendly way. It's a pity the front line of this practice is what it is, as the two doctors I have seen here have been professional and warm. I intend to leave the practice in the new year.
