  1. Review titled vaccination clinic

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 October 2024

I'm sorry to complain, the vaccination service is usually excellent, but something has gone very wrong this year. When I attended today there were at least 40 people crammed together in the waiting room with more coming and going. These are possibly vulnerable people, that's why they are getting vaccinated. No one was wearing a mask (except me). I would expect an increase in covid and flu cases following this event

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with our service. We fed patients through the waiting rooms as quickly as possible to avoid too much contact but you will appreciate the large volume of patients we had to vaccinate. Our more vulnerable patients were seen at their homes or in their cars. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the patient services manager. Shipley medical practice

  2. Review titled No service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Call at 9am and can not get appointment. Lady is typicaly unwilling to do the job she was hired to do in giving appointments, meaning what a waste of money she is. Since covid there has been no service from this doctors, hit and miss of who you get answering your call as to if your seen or not. Horrible GP practise

  3. Review titled Dreadful to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024

Phoned the surgery to make an appointment for a non urgent appointment that I need to physically see a GP for. I was 15th in the queue. Thank goodness for the call back option. When I got the callback I was told there were no on the day appointments left. I didn't need one so asked to book one in the future around my working hours. Told they no longer book appointments in advance. I need to submit a request through patches. I was sent a link to do this which I've logged in to today only to get a message to say it's unavailable until later on today when I'll be at work. I wonder who has reviewed this through equality and diversity protocols as this system that relies on people to have access to a smartphone and the literacy to be able to do so. It doesn't take into account people who work and don't have hours to be spending making appointments! Dreadful system. Used to be a great practice when it was Westcliffe but has gone downhill the last few years without a doubt!

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback. We apologise that you have struggled to get an appointment on the day. We are looking into offering prebookable appointments in the future. In the meantime, we do have patchs online that opens at 2pm and 6pm. Our phonelines are open from 8am to 6pm. We also offer out of hours appointments on an evenings and a weekend for our patients who find it difficult to attend during the day. Please bear with us as we are in the process of recruiting to our reception team to reduce our call waiting times.

  4. Review titled Problem with repeat prescription

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Melanie Jones - Posted on 16 March 2024

Repeat prescription required review, rang 14 Marchand spoke to someone at practice. When I attempted to request medication was advised on system online that as prescribed on 14 March could not request until May. Was not requested on 14 March, not since January, so system is not working.

Dr Melanie, Thank you for your feedback and taking my telephone call on Saturday. As per our conversation this was already issued to your nominated pharmacy which is why you couldn't request this again. Sorry for any confusion caused.

  5. Review titled Poor communication

Extremely hard to get in touch if you need to discuss any health issue. Dont respond to phone calls or emails. Patchs is only available for a very limited time. Cancel appointments as and when they feel like. Dont bother discussing any kind of results.

  6. Review titled Absolutely horrendous reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Holly sands - Posted on 21 February 2024

I spoke to the receptionist to explain my sister had recently had an operation on her mouth and had been sent back to hospital due to her having an infection. She was advised by paramedics to be put on different pain medication due to the pain relief prescribed by the hospital being too strong and the side affects being too serious for her to continue. The receptionist was extremely rude to me and said she needed to go back to the dentist ( this was advised by the hospital when she got readmitted to check it is definitely an infection) i explained this wasn’t what was advised for pain relief and we was told to speak to the GP for pain relief. She wasn’t even listening to me properly as she kept saying about a change in antibiotics which I never once said. She kept saying there was no Proof of anything and no proof of ‘ what medication she has Ben prescribed by the hospital’ which I explained was on her discharge note. I always have trouble with this receptionist every single time I ring the doctors. She is rude and said ‘can she not take paracetamol over the counter’ which is absolutely appalling to say about someone who has had an operation and had been resent to hospital due to an infection and her womb reopening. This needs sorting out. It’s like mission impossible to get an appointment at the doctors, it took me 5 days at the end of January to get an appointment for my back, I lost 3 days of pay due to not being able to speak to a doctor so I could not get a sick note not to mention the intense amount of pain I was in. I must say though, the doctors at the practice are fantastic when you can finally see them.

  7. Review titled further assistance

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by hannah wilson - Posted on 02 January 2024

i had an appointment today 2/1/24@3pm about my mental health, i did think some type of questionnaire or assessment was going to take place, however this did not happen, i explained part of my symptoms to the doctor, she did say i have depression/anxiety and gave me a number to call but in my opinion my condition is more serious and depression/anxiety is something that falls into the illness. all i am looking for is a diagnosis so i can understand and manage my situation better but to be disregarded by an nhs professional again is starting to take its toll. from being a teen growing to an adult has been very difficult without knowing the real issues which i am facing or even the correct research to know how to work around it. on exiting my appointment i did ask the receptionist for the complaints contact information and was given an email which replied “I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.” so that is why i am writing here. my condition is serious, i need a diagnosis and correct information on what i am dealing with please get back to me at your earliest convenience

  9. Review titled Upsetting experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Andrea Symonds - Posted on 14 October 2023

I was recently invited by text to book either a COVID, Flu or both vaccinations at Shipley Medical Practice. I telephoned & made an appointment for both. I then turned up for that appointment this morning at 10.00, 14.10.23, only to be told that I was not eligible. I would have accepted this as an error on someone's part if it had not been for the attitude of the practitioner who saw me, he made no apology & he certainly made me feel as if I was lying - it was very upsetting. Please ensure that I am not invited for vaccinations that I cannot have in the future.
