  1. Review titled Problems registering

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Martin M - Posted on 01 August 2024

I tried to register at the practice today. Its website says it's open to new registrations, I live in the area and I have a valid NHS Number. The online registration form was glitchy and crashed repeatedly. It wouldn't let me upload proof of address but did say this was not necessary. I persisted and eventually got the online process to complete. Later, I got an unfriendly-sounding message, refusing my registration without giving any reason. I'm a cancer patient with ongoing care needs. I don't have a GP now and I could do without this stress. Registration at the practice feels deliberately obstructive

Dear Martin M, my name is Annette Galvin and I am the Practice Manager at Shoreditch Park Surgery. Firstly please accept my apologies for the confusion around your registration which I believe was resolved very quickly. My understanding is that when my colleague contacted you to confirm your registration was complete, she made a typo in which she stated you are "not" registered as opposed to you are "now" registered. Clearly the learning point here is to ensure that emails are proof read before sending. We do not require proof of address when registering, this part of the form was not active and has now been completely removed. Once again, please accept my apologies for any upset caused and thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Should you wish to discuss this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me on 020 7739 8525. My usual working days are Monday - Friday 08.00-18.30 (apart from Wednesday when I am not available after 13.00) With best wishes Annette

  2. Review titled Was not taken seriously!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Salma Begum - Posted on 13 March 2024

I brought my 18month baby on 12/03/2024 to see the doctor as she was suffering from a croup cough, I explained the duration of the cough and how it has been affecting her and how she was struggling to breath at night. The doctor examined her and said everything seems fine other than her temperature being a little high- to keep topping her up with calpol and if she remains the same to bring her in the next few days. As she wasn’t coughing at the time the croup cough issue got ignored. That night, my child again was making grunting noises and her tummy was sucking under their ribcage when she was breathing. She couldn’t sleep, she suffered, the next morning I called the surgery and got seen by a lovely lady doctor , she confirmed my child had a croup cough and provided a one off steroid, she also stated there was nothing in the record showing i have previously come in for my child croup- that tells me the previous doctor made no record of it and I had to drag my sick child out two day in a row to get her the right medication!

  3. Review titled Awful one off experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

this is the first time I have ever encountered such issues with the nhs services, but it’s such a serious matter that I feel like I need to make sure this gets addressed so it will not happen again not only to myself but others. to give some background information, my health history involves high blood pressure and other heart condition, which I have been monitored by the nhs for the past years. So fast forward to the 13th February 2024, I had booked myself an appointment at my local gp, firstly because I had been monitoring my high blood pressure level as advised by the gp and told to come back after 3 months, and secondly because I was having a strange sensation on my palm and I wanted to have that also checked. my appointment was at 9am, I got to the gp at 8:55. dr called me into the room at 9:04. as I started to explained the reason I was there, he immediately cut me off by saying “next”, I proceeded to my next concern and that’s when things got out of hand, he cut me off again saying “he only has 2 minutes, I need to be quick”. at this point, I realized this gentleman was not concerned with his patient in front of him so I walked myself out of there and headed to reception to voice my concerns. I’m appalled by this service, not only was the dr completely dismissal of the situation, he didn’t also care to think his actions at the point have consequences. I had this appointment booked at a time to ensure I would finish there and go to work, but after this encounter I had to go home to try and calm myself, I was very agitated by this. this is a very serious matter and can’t be taken lightly, we seek NHS services to make us feel better and not get us worst.

  4. Review titled Hands down the best practice I’ve ever used

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Farhad Cooper - Posted on 29 January 2024

The team are always brilliant and courteous and so friendly. Today I had a blood test and the phlebotomist was wonderful. When I call someone picks up promptly. When we fill out an e consult we are are contacted within hours not days and days. And everybody takes great pride in their excellent service here. So rare. Can’t stress how much of a difference it makes to us patients. Thank you so much.

  5. Review titled Great practice but one big miss

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Paul B - Posted on 03 January 2024

My experience has been predominantly positive, thanks to a highly responsive team, encompassing both the Reception staff and doctors. I extend a heartfelt thanks to the second GP who took my case seriously and expediently referred me to a consultant at Homerton Hospital on the same day, recognizing the urgency of my situation. However, I must express a concern: a week prior, the first GP I saw had declined my request for a blood test, simply because I appeared to be a ‘young, fit guy’. This delay in obtaining the correct diagnosis exacerbated my condition, resulting in an eight-day hospital stay over Christmas for treatment that could have been administered orally at home had it been diagnosed sooner. This situation nearly led to severe complications. I urge a more cautious approach in the future, rather than assuming the most common issue. Nonetheless, I am grateful to the GP who subsequently took charge and promptly directed me to the appropriate specialist. All the best for the future!

  6. Review titled Wonderful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Roger Walton - Posted on 31 July 2023

I had an asthma review with the nurses last week and wanted to express my gratitude and compliments to the staff. I was treated with dignity and respect with no rush. I learned some significant strategies and techniques that have helped immediately. I've lived in several parts of London and around England and can say that Shoreditch Park Surgery is one of the best I've experienced. Thank you so much.

  7. Review titled Can’t get an appointment for 4 weeks

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2023

The surgery has only one physio, who works 1-2 days a week and the appointments are very limited. Trying to book the visit for 4 weeks and it’s impossible to get in! My job is very physical and my shoulder and back were painful with no help from GP! The doctor sent me to receptionist to book the physio appointment and I am trying now to book it for a month, meanwhile I am in pain non-stop. Asked to put me on cancellation list or awaiting list and they said “no”, just said “keep trying to call us later in a week again”. Can we improve this service in some ways? Thank you

This is a service that is provided as part of our Primary Care Network and is shared between 5 practices. I will obviously feed this back to the wider team. In the mean time if you would like to have a conversation with me, please do not hesitate to contact me. 8. Review titled They can't find my exam results for almost a month

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Vinicius - Posted on 16 December 2022

I've visited the GP in 28/11/2022 due to a consistent bloated, gassy bowel, and with frequent diarrhea. The doctor asked for a poop sample to run tests as it could be a virus, bacteria or IBS. I've delivered the sample on the 30/11 and were asked to call next Monday (5/12) to hear the results and next steps. Now it's the 16/12 and they haven't found any test results. Nor given my any updates. And only ask to call the day after. Finally, the only time available to discuss this to a doctor is the time I'm working (from 8am to 12pm), with no flexibility whatsoever or some different time in any day of the week. Looks like they've lost my sample but, really, does it need two weeks to find this out?! Not a friendly or helpful service.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Please accept my apologies for the slow response. We are disappointed that you have not had a positive experience. In this situation it would have been good if we could have had a conversation as I am sure that I would have been able to help. Although to speak to a Dr you have to call before midday, I obviously take calls outside of theses times and would be happy to speak to you. My name is Annette Galvin and I am the practice manager. My usual work days are Monday - Friday. With best wishes
