  1. Review titled Unfortunately the practice is not the same

Rated 1 star out of 5

When you are a patient with complex needs it feels important to see the same doctor. From a patient’s point of view it’s about building a rapport and having the confidence that ‘their doctor’ knows ‘their history’ You build a rapport with someone who respects you as a person and doesn’t keep them waiting in a freezing cold waiting room for their appointment. That feels disrespectful and rude. The practice needs to introduce boundaries as to how long they should consider it’s acceptable to keep a patient waiting. Particularly when patients see what time you take a patient in and how long you leave the gap before seeing the next. From my point of view I arrived promptly ten minutes before my appointment and found it unacceptable to be waiting for well over an hour after my appointment time. The previous patient had left the room forty minutes before. The waiting room is absolutely freezing, leaving me feeling worse than I already did. The doctor I was allocated made me feel they wanted me out before I could explain my symptoms and made no move to examine me, I feel that this is a basic if an examination is warranted which in my opinion should of been a first step in them coming to some sort of diagnosis and then referral for further treatment if required. There are some excellent doctors at this practice. When you really need a good doctor this is unacceptable. Your first port of call is your GP. Sorrel Bank sort yourself out. You must know the doctors that no one wants to see.

  3. Review titled Good General Practice but could be excellent

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My experience with the practice has varied over time. I do often get to see the same Dr and nurse which gives me confidence in knowing they understand the history of my visits. Very friendly Drs and nurses always have time to listen. The staff on reception are good but often limited to with the information they can give especially if full notes haven't been left by the GP or nurse so they hey understand why I need another blood test or clarify test results. I've had a few occasions where an appointment has been advised as booked but I turn up on the day and it wasn't. However, on the whole a very good practice also, loving the enthusiasm of the person with short bleach blond hair at reception, really lifted the mood of the place. On the whole would highly recommend this practice given previous experience of another practice in the area.

I’ve been a patient here all my life but will look elsewhere for a care provider. I haven’t visited the doctors for over 4 years and attended today with an issue that is preventing me from my day to day activities and was told to ‘deal with it’ despite the nhs website indicating the issue has an array of treatments available. The doctors have 0 compassion or interest in patient care. If you’re looking for a GP look elsewhere.

  7. Review titled Brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was recently in need of a GP appointment that had become pretty urgent, the reception member took some details about what the appointment was for and how long I had had the issue. The message was passed to the GP and I was contacted for an appointment on the same day. I had a non urgent issue that I made an appointment for while in the surgery and the wait for this was a week and a half, which I don't think is too bad at all, with all things considering. The staff took the time to listen and help, I know that I am not the only patient they have, but they made me feel like I was.

  8. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Every time you ring to make an appointment you have to listen to an automated recording over a minute long and the phone then rings for ages before anyone answers and then you can’t get an appointment, sometimes you can wait up to a month to see a Dr. The last time time I spoke with a Dr I wasn’t told it was a student and I feel that should have been made known to me before my appointment. The reception staff are often rude and unhelpful and can’t seem to get you off the phone quick enough. You never see the same Dr twice so you never build a relationship and if you request to see a particular Dr the waiting time is weeks. The website says they are taking on new patients but I’m not sure how because they clearly don’t have the capacity to see the patients they already have and when you do manage to get an appointment, whoever seems to be in the waiting room also complains about not being seen on time and how they have also waited weeks to get the appointment, it’s just an awful practise and I am currently in the process of looking around and finding another Drs because Sorrel Bank is a joke and it’s getting worse.
