I attended this morning for an appointment for my daughter who has a disability with limited speech and autism. The registrar was excellent with her. She had a very kind and caring manner, explained everything she was doing to my daughter as well as listening to us.I cannot express how much this meant to me.I just wanted to pass on our thanks to this GP.

I received the following text message: You are due for your interim heart/bllod presure review. Please contact the surgery to arrange for a blood tests for your kidney and review by a clinician regards South Wigan Medical Practice Badly worded, careless errors, meaning unclear. I expect more from the NHS.

Dear Phil, Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear this has happened and will share your feedback with the team. We do use text messaging to inform patients when basic monitoring tests such as blood pressure checks are due. We are limited by the number of characters which texts allow, which does not support the sending of long and detailed messages, but they should not include a spelling mistake. Both myself and my son have been with this practice for many years and always get a good response. My son has a rare genetic disability and a very high pain threshold so when I see something amiss it is not clear at all whether it is a minor thing or a major thing. This practice is fantastic in quick responses and listens to what a mother has to say which is brilliant for me. I sent an ask my GP a question regarding a potential infection in his eye and within an hour we had antibiotic ointment. Karen Telford

As happens each time, I logged on through Ask my GP, following a fall, when I injured a finger on my left hand, being painful, swollen and unable to straighten one of my fingers. I received a response within minutes and got the necessary advice and treatment. I valued both the speed and efficiency; and was very happy with the options of either telephone, email or personal consultation. I originally had a face to face with one of the doctors, who promptly diagnosed a possible fracture, dislocation or torn tendons, but arranged an X-ray, to confirm his diagnosis. The X-ray results were followed by an online discussion, during which I was offered some follow up treatment. I felt, as I always do, that this was met with patience, understanding and care. Having to consult different doctors, as I did this time, on the single issue, was fine, as the communication between them was first class and well coordinated. This is important since this problem may take time before being fully resolved, especially as I’m fairly mature in years. I feel I am in good hands. I was very happy with the doctors, nurses and receptionists. All were very friendly, helpful and efficient. I’m trying to find some criticism, to balance these comments, but I can’t.

I can’t recommend this practice enough. I have had stomach issues where I was told it’s nothing and not to worry about but because of Drs here and Others after I requested they referred me to Salford after being under Wigan and since they did I finally have answers and treatment has commenced after 5 years of struggles so thanks a lot

I used Ask My GP to request an urgent referral to the eye clinic. The request was picked up and actioned within the hour. I always get excellent service, whether using the online Ask My GP system or face to face at the surgery.

All the doctors are amazing second to none either on the phone or face to face prompt reply from ask my GP would 100percent recommend them I have had to contact them 3 times including today in the last 2 months and had the best care

All staff at this practice are so caring and professional. I used the AskmyGP app it was really useful and it almost feels like you are being triaged from home. Such trustworthy & dedicated staff make you feel very well cared for.

After a long period with Sciatica. The service and support I received from the practice was superb. From getting prescriptions to sick notes. Using MyGP was very user friendly and the response by GP to contact me by phone was very quick and helpful. Appointment to see a doctor was on the same day as I put the request in. Overall fantastic professional service all round. 10 out of 10.

I had a telephone appointment with a doctor today. I had previously met her 2 years ago for a small procedure and her kindness, empathy, understanding, patience, knowledge and expertise had left a lasting impression on me! I was delighted that she rang me today and felt at ease instantly by her kindness,warmth, understanding and reassurance. We discussed everything and she listened intently, I finally feel understood. We came up with a plan together to manage my symptoms and she sent me links with information to help. The knowledge, expertise, care and empathy I was shown today has left me feeling so much better. I can't tell you how happy I am with today's consultation. Thank you so very much! I will be asking for this doctor by name going forward. An absolute credit to the profession. Thank you!
