I have contacted the GP's on multiple occasions in regards to complications experienced on prescribed medication as I'm unable to book this on the NHS App. Each time I call I'm just told 'no available appointments, try on 'X' day'. The most recent instance being last week when I was told to call back at 8am on Tuesday. I've been calling since 8am this morning; run through the department options, press option 1 for Reception only to be greeted with a message to say 'All of our staff are unavailable please try again later' before the phone cuts off.. no queue, no option for a call back.. nothing.. Nearly an hour later and I finally managed to get into a queue.. position 18.. held the line.. 2 minutes later and get my updated queue position.. 20... Not entirely sure why we recommend patients to call at 8am when the phone lines don't even work.. for them to then sit in a queue waiting to be pushed further back.. Thankfully despite my medication side effects I'm fairly healthy but for someone older struggling this would be incredible distressful. I understand this is a busy time of day but to just constantly have the call ended for nearly an hour is ridiculous!
