  1. Review titled Awful treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

Treated most awfully on the telephone by staff. Ended up in tears, do they not understand mental health? Are they given up to date training? The mind boggles.

  2. Review titled Awful for mental health

Rated 1 star out of 5

Awful for mental health care this practice, pushed from pillar to post and passed around. Spoke to someone today who was happily going to leave me on another waiting list which can take a year, yet I'm meant to be classed as 'urgent' absolute joke.

  3. Review titled Yet another disappointing experience here

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Greg Wootton - Posted on 26 April 2023

Appointment booked 10.00, still sat waiting at 10.30, student doc tells me he hadn't been notified I was waiting, five mins later he leaves the office to get advice and doesn't return until 10.55 after leaving me alone wondering what was happening, I have been with is practice for quite a while now and have never been seen on time but this was ridiculous.

I'm sorry that you had to wait. The practice is committed to training new GPs and all of the trainees are mentored by an experienced GP. Unfortunately, the GP mentor must have been consulting with another patient at the time hence the delay. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

  4. Review titled Shockingly bad

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gareth Compton - Posted on 12 April 2023

Unfortunately, this is my Mother’s practice. She has dementia, we have PofA. At every stage they make things difficult. Repeated failures to refer to the memory clinic, causing a 6 month delay in diagnosis and therefore treatment. Almost impossible to get through on the ‘phone and when one does, surly, unhelpful staff. The receptionist claimed yesterday she could not access e-mails, could not transfer a call to someone who could access them and could not give her name or the name of any staff. She claimed the manager was unavailable, the assistant manager was unavailable. Asked who was in charge, she replied “No one”. If true, the CQC ought to shut them down urgently. We’re currently chasing an urgent prescription, sent by the memory clinic. Will we get a promised call back about it today? Of course not. Will we ever make contact with someone who will grip this and get an urgently needed prescription for an old lady with dementia? Of course not. Not only is there something very badly wrong with the management and culture at this practice, their incompetence and no-can-do attitude has had (and continues to have) very serious real-life consequences for my family.

Dear Patient, I am sorry that you had a difficult experience. The receptionists are trained to ask simple questions so that they can ensure you are seen by the most appropriate clinician. There is never a time when there is only a locum on duty. We have 4 GP partners and 3 salaried GPs. If you would like to contact me directly my telephone number is 01388 825212 and I would be happy to discuss your concerns further. Kind regards, Tracey Martin Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Inexperience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Phoned due to suspected vertigo and was lucky to get a face to face appt. two days later due to cancellation by another patient. Receptionist was efficient and polite. Following day I recieved a phone call from the doctor assigned to my face to face appt. and was asked if I could take place in a telephone consultation as she was taking an exam and wanted to record this. That was ok although from start to finish it took about 1 hour as I needed to use a landline which allowed me to hear better. The connection to my landline took a long time and we had to do the recording twice. All in all, we got there in the end and I was assured my face to face appt. was still ok. The doctor was thorough in her assessment and diagnosis but afterwards, I felt a couple of points during the consultation were not as I would have experienced in a doctor with more experience. My main concern with the practice now is that the doctors seem inexperienced. I have received consultation twice in about three years and I was struck by this on both occassions. I have been with this practice through all its changes since 1966 and feel a little unsettled due to this.

You have posted this anonymously so difficult for me to check but I wonder if you have the wrong surgery. We have trainee GPs at the practice but none recording telephone consultations.

  7. Review titled Not able to help

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023

I called today to book my baby’s 1 year old vaccination. I appreciate that there was no appointment available within an acceptable timeframe for my daughter because of such a high number of patients registered to this medical centre. However, the receptionist wasn’t able to give any advice in regards to the waiting timeframe or call if there is any cancellation. This is how this practice shows that doesn’t appreciate the patients registered and especially on this case which is about a baby. Thank you for your time and hopefully there will be more doctors and nurses to this practice so the number of patients registered to this practice can be assisted and treated before their health gets so bad that there is no treat a available for them.

  8. Review titled Misleading

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 February 2023

Called for an appointment after being told by a pharmacist to do so. Spoke to the receptionist she said "is 2:50pm ok?" I said no problem. Received a reminder email a few hours later confirming my appointment for 2:50pm the following day. Rang to see if this was a system error but no. The receptionist booked an appointment for 2:50 for the next day without telling me it wasn't today. Sick of being fobbed off by this surgery and never taken seriously.

  9. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been meaning to leave a review for a while. This surgery is exceptional. I phone for my kids and get appointments straightaway, I have filled E consult forms in twice and have been dealt with within hours, the staff are always accommodating on the phone. Well done to the whole team - it is not an easy time to be a GP or run a practice with demand high and a shortage in workforce. I am very glad to have you looking after my family. Thank you.
