Review titled Mediocre Doctors
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 October 2024
Telephone appointment, and I was not happy with the service I got today. I was prescribed a standard dose of antibiotics with the doctor insisting it was a high dose. It's hit & miss who you end up speaking to. Today I got a doctor more concerned about her comfort level than the patient's comfort level. Nor did it appear that she paid attention to my profile, which should ideally have a bit message indicating that penicillin is dangerous for me. The doctor I had the misfortunte to speak to seemed to think she knows better than a chronic patient who has been dealing with their condition longer than this doctor has been alive. When dealing with chronics/patients with long-term conditions actually listen to the patients. We need to live with the consequences of your actions, whilst you can waddle off and live your life. Reception in the last few years has become great and they are all incredibly helpful. Some of the GPs are good, some are mediocre and others I never want to deal with again.

Review titled Annoying.
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Every time I call the surgery up, I’m stuck listening to music for 20-40 minutes. No idea on queue times. It honestly feels like it’s endlessly ringing and not going to anyone… it’s terrible. Very rarely. 1 in 10 calls I would say are answered at all, even when waiting for ages. What’s annoying though is sometimes if I call back straight after hanging up, it can connect instantly. This has been an issue for years and I’m trying so hard to not turn up and scream at the reception. This is disgusting service.

Thank you for taking the time to review. We are quite surprised by the review and would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns. In the past we have found several reviews are not related to St Andrew's Surgery in Eastleigh, Hampshire as there are similarly named surgeries elsewhere in the country. We have for example completely changed the telephone system in the last couple of years and now regularly check queue lengths and waiting times and they are not at the length suggested. Please call the surgery on 02380 612472 and ask to speak to the Practice Manager and we can look into why you appear to have a different experience to the majority of patients.

Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Brittany Keith - Posted on 23 January 2024
I have only been with St Andrews for about 1-2 years but honestly it is the best practice I have been with. Everyone is so lovely and they never make you feel like your being a pest. I had my smear today and the nurse was one of the nicest nurses I have ever dealt with.

I have been with St Andrews since November 2020, I have never been more than number 2 in the call queue and have never had a problem getting a same day appointment, I called at 8am this morning for an urgent appointment for my daughter who had been unwell over the weekend, got through on the phone straight away and was offered 9.30, we where seen promptly and actually home by 10am with a prescription sent over to the chemist of my choice for antibiotics for my daughter, amazing service. Thank you

A big thank you to the lead Practice Nurse at St Andrews for being kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. I have seen her twice and both times she has been on time or early, really helpful with whatever complaint I’ve had and treated me with the upmost respect. Thank you :)

Needed to book blood test, was put straight through on phone, receptionist was lovely got me booked in that day and couldn’t have been more helpful if she tried. Nurse who took my blood was lovely and didn’t feel a thing all done within couple minutes. Lovely service thank you.

Review titled Nurse practitioner fabulous way forward
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Matron1963 - Posted on 10 February 2023
My husband rang up late morning asking for a GP appointment with a significant back pain issue expecting to wait at least 48 hours before he could be seen. The reception staff were brilliant and he was given an appointment that day within 2 hours of ringing with the nurse practitioner. He was very pleased with her assessment and advice and reassured by her. I understand this is a trial service for the practice. In present times within the health service this is a very positive way forward. Nurses are not just for vaccinations and dressings. As a former nurse practitioner in the NHS setting, I highly commend the practice for this step forward. Our GPs need as much support as possible and moving to an integrated professional service in the community setting is one of the ways this can be achieved. Thank you.
