Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Abby - Posted on 14 March 2025
Just recently moved back to Romford and registered with this practice a few weeks ago (since they are the closest to my address) and I got an email saying that the registration will have to take 6 weeks which was fine; however, my 8 month old baby suddenly developed rashes all over her face and neck so I called 111 and was told to contact the GP. So, at exactly 8am, I called this practice, told them about 111's advice and I have clearly explained to them on the phone that we are still in the process of registration and and they asked me to bring my baby's birth certificate and red book and come in at 10:15am. We reached the practice before 10am and the lady in the reception took the birth certficate and the red book and photo copied them only to be told that they are not going to accommodate my baby since we are not yet in the system. We were told to go to the walk-in clinic instead. I asked if the registration of my baby is in process but they said not yet so I asked what was the purpose of photocopying the documents but they could not give me a straight answer and just kept pushing me to go to the walk-in clinic. One of the lady asked for the email proof that I have registered a few weeks ago, and I showed her my phone and instead of giving it back to me, she just fling it on the reception desk which is very very rude. I did not want to waste my time anymore getting the run arounds so me and my baby just left without having anything done for us. What a complete waste of travel. If I was told right away that they could not accommodate us, I could have called 111 back and ask for another advise. I don't think this GP takes the health of their patients seriously and it's very alarming. Not a very pleasant experience for new patients like us. I hope they would do something about it.

Review titled Lovely doctors but terrible admin
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sandra Iles - Posted on 16 March 2025
I was with this surgery from 1984 but left in February 2025. The doctors are great but the back of house admin leaves a huge amount to be desired. This I put up with because I could see the doctor I wanted and who I got on well with. A nagging issue however was always the practice's unwillingness to be flexible about patients ordering repeat prescriptions early (for example if going away on holiday) which nearly caused me to run out of meds a few times. My nominated pharmacy told me this was a problem too when ordering repeat meds on my behalf. The last straw for me came when, after seceral weeks of trying online, I finally managed to get an appointment with my preferred GP. My joy was cut short though when I got a text the night before saying the surgery had cancelled my appointment. No apology, just a request to ring them to reschedule. This I did, to be told there was no availability and to try online instead. I've now moved to another local surgery and it's a refreshing change to be able to order repeat meds without having to wait for a specific date to do that. Such a shame that rubbish back of house admin has made me jump ship.

From the moment I walked in on Tuesday evening I was greeted with politeness from the reception team. My G.P was very kind and compassionate. I was seen promptly. We are very lucky to have this service.

When I attended the surgery last week, the staff were kind and professional. My GP went above and beyond explaining everything and as always was very helpful.

Review titled Disappointed
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Almira Thomas - Posted on 18 November 2024
My daughter is waiting since June 2024 to get an appointment for an Asthma assessment. In the mean time she has had difficulty breathing and had to go to a walk in clinic to get steroids and inhalers. I phoned the surgery twice and was told it was being looked into and still no calls or emails from surgery. It has been 4 and a half months. It is very frustrating. She clearly has Asthma but because it was not recorded on the system she cannot get repeat inhalers.

Review titled Incredibly bad practice

Dr sent me for urgent MRI scan, had this done results are back but no one is available to look at them. I am having great difficulty with my problem so I asked when the doctor would be able to look and was told maybe next week..... the doctor who sent me apparently is going to be off for quite a few weeks, but if I phone back on Friday when he will be there, I could ask him to check the results for me. One of the most confusing conversations I've had with a receptionist at this practice. What worries me, if there is something wrong that needs dealing with, the delay in getting someone to look at my scan could make a difference.

Hi Anonymous, If you give us some more information regarding this complaint I can investigate this further for you and listen to the call. All of our results are looked at daily and sent for clinical review regardless of which clinician sent you for the test. Any result that are sent tos us that urgently need dealing with are dealt with the same day by your clinician or the duty clinician for that day. If you would like to either call or email us with more information I would be happy to look into this further for you. Thanks

Review titled Staff need urgent retraining

To be charitable I would say the reception staff and the prescription staff are not helpful and on occasions rude. Their job is to help not hinder patients. When mistakes are made by them to say sorry and correct them is not in their vocabulary. Dealing with vulnerable people needs understanding care!!

Review titled Disgraceful service

Despite being no 2 in the queue on ringing, it took over an hour to get through. Trying to telephone for anything is a complete waste of time. Too many patients, not enough staff. Certainly not enough answering the phones

Review titled The Practice has got from Bad to Worst.
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been with the Surgery for just over 59 years. Whenever I phone the Surgery to try and get an Appointment to see a certain Doctor I rarely get an appointment. I phoned yesterday to see if there would be an Appointment to see a certain Doctor today but was told to phone today. I phoned at 8.00am today was no 4 on the phone, I waited 26 minutes for someone to answer the phone only to be told that there were not any appointments for him today and that there were not any yesterday when I phoned up. I was told that he would be in on Friday but I asked if I could book an appointment today to see him on Friday but was told no that I have to book an Emergency Appointment on Friday.I don't know what System they are now using but it has certainly got from Bad to Worst.

Review titled Doctor didn't ring!!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 March 2023
Your location St Edwards Medical Centre The surgery left a message on my dad's phone at the end of January asking us to fix a phone appointment for dad with one of the doctors, to discuss a letter they'd received. We therefore arranged a telephone appointment for 1st March, with a guide time for the GP to ring around 3pm. My sister and I rearranged our plans so that we could be with dad at the allotted time. At 3.50pm on 1st March my sister rang reception to ask when we might expect the call from the GP. She was told that the time given was only a guide, but that we were on the list of calls to be made. So we waited and waited... and were still waiting at 8pm when I left to get some shopping for dad. When I returned at 9pm, no call had come in. My sister and I double checked the list of incoming calls on dad’s phone again yesterday (2 March) and there were none received on 1st March from the surgery. My sister phoned them again today (3 March) to ask what happened and was told that the GP had rung dad’s number at 6.50pm on 1st March. We know that wasn’t so as no incoming call from them was on the call log. Moreover I was still at dad’s at that time sitting next to the phone and can say hand on heart from my own memory that there was no such call. Taking a charitable view of the situation, I would say that someone at the surgery is very much mistaken.... All in all, dreadful service from a surgery that really must do better. Luckily for us, this wasn’t an emergency...
