I read some reviews before going to the surgery and they weren’t very complementary for the reception staff. While I was there today they all were polite and helpful and were very pleasant. Give these ladies a break, they do a difficult job and deserve more respect. I for one wasn’t looking forward to my visit but was most appreciative and very pleased with my interaction with reception. I think this is a great surgery to be a patient in.

Generally a busy surgery but my gripe is with how consistently filthy the waiting area is. Grime and foul smell on the seats, dirty walls and corners. Also you are “summoned” from the waiting room to your appointment by a member of staff just coming in and calling you. Often inaudible due to being too softly spoken, accent or drowned out by the radio or the noise coming from the reception area. The Receptionists interpersonal skills require brushing up too.

Thank you for your feedback, Our clinical staff call their patients in personally from the waiting room, we do not use a tannoy to summon patients. As you say we are an extremely busy surgery with over 15000 registered patients, our cleaning company are in every evening but due to the footfall over the day you would expect to see some dirt generated during the day. The radio is on to aid confidentiality at reception but is low volume. All comments both positive and negative are shared at our staff meetings and we will also share your feedback with our cleaning company.

Phoned surgery at 9:30am and spoke to a receptionist. A duty doctor phoned back within half an hour and I was seen by my own doctor by mid day. Exceptional service, especially as they were short of two staff that day.

Today I was seen by a Matron who was amazing! I’ve never felt so heard, I was listened to with empathy, then followed up with immediate tests and meds. So thorough with such a kind nature, I wish I could see the same Matron every time. Thank you St James!!

Requested an appointment on a Monday due to problems lasting over 5 weeks, seen on the same day. Excellent care Provided by GP with a return in four days if you do not improve. Unfortunately I had to return seen the same GP and onwards referrals made. This practice has always been there for our family when we need them, the staff and clinical staff always provide the same exemplary care and concern for us as their patients.

The staff , as all medical staff and receptions are extremely busy but they are excellent in all respects. From the initial call to treatment through to ordering prescriptions they are polite, professional and accommodating. Over the years I have been with a number of surgeries due to the vagaries of my employment but St James surgery are undoubtedly the best.
