after several visits with bad cough and shortness of breath my GP told me that I’m perfectly fine and should come back when I start spitting blood.

Review titled This place should be shut down for people’s safety
Rated 1 star out of 5

Last 2 years I’m visiting this place every 3 weeks with chocking cough, it’s never ending circle, antibiotics, nasal sprays, inhaler. All based on guess and symptoms google search. Any of those “doctors “ ever offered referral to specialists, it’s impossible to get any professional help there. Very sad place, better to keep away

Review titled Very badly run practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Michael - Posted on 04 January 2023
Stanley Medical Centre is a very badly run practice. I have been trying to get an appointment now for 3 weeks now without any success. Having rung daily for the last 3 weeks, you ring at 08:00 am exactly you only get the answering machine. As soon as you ring off and then do an immediate redial the line is constantly engaged. When you do finally get through you are told that all the appointments have been taken for that day and that you are not allowed to book any future dates and that you must ring again at 8 am and try your luck on the following day. This is a ridiculous way to run a GP practice. This used to be a great practice several years ago, but since the Senior GP in charge left the practice, it has just gone from bad to worse over the last few years and in particular the last few months. As a result I will now have to move to another GP practice several miles away which I know (from my next door neighbours who have also moved) is professionally and well run. Stanley Medical Centre doesn't deserve even one star because it is absolutely terrible.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt you had to report this online and I would have welcomed the opportunity to have discussed this with you in person. In response I would like to offer the following information: Our appointments are released at 8am each day and we have increased our staff and incoming phone lines to manage the incoming calls at that time. Demand for appointments is extremely high and we utilise all the resources available to us to provide appointments to meet this demand. I am aware it is very busy at 8am and request calls that are not for appointments ring later in the day if possible when the phone lines may be quieter.

Review titled So frustrating
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Amy - Posted on 14 November 2022
Both myself and my other half are not very well having returned from abroad. Despite using 111 (together under one call) yesterday and being asked to follow up with our GP it seems impractical to do so. Calling 85 times at 8am (with no call queue so it immediately hangs up), then when finally getting through they can only offer a 10 min phone appointment for one of us (and being asked who is worse - we have been on the same holiday and exposed to the same issue). The same test will surely be needed for both of us so a phone call very easily could have been shared, which means one of us won’t have to wait longer for care. Nevertheless, to only be able to get one 10 min appointment (not even face to face) when calling with an urgent care need for 2 people at 8am is poor at best. Where are people expected to go? Available routes are so easily exhausted.
