I am well aware of the pressures on the NHS at the moment as well as the particular recent local problems but I had a really bad experience this week when I ordered 8 repeat prescriptions on 9 Jul. They had not arrived in my local store by 15th when I ran out of most of the items, and I checked online which indicated they had been dealt with on 11th. I was unable to return to the store until 18 Jul when they had still not arrived (and I had been without my daily medication for 4 days) so I drove to the surgery and asked the receptionist. I was handed the bag containing all the missing items, so I asked why they had not been delivered to King's Somborne and why so late. I was told 'I have absolutely no idea' and left hanging. By the time I returned home a quick text advising me they would be delivered was on my phone. I accept that the current situation may cause a delay of a day or two but for over a week, no advice and no explanation is not acceptable. Many patients could result with serious problems without their medication. The very least should be a return to 56 day of holdings to allow more time for restocking if these delays continue any further!

Dear Mr Pepperell I am sorry for your recent experience and have spoken with our Dispensary Team about this. I am unsure if you let staff know that you were about to run out of medication when you put in your request? We deliver to the shops 2 or 3 times a week and have always recommended that patients give a full week for shop deliveries. When we are fully staffed we will be able to deliver more quickly but we don't want anyone to be in the position of not having their medication. I am sorry that your medication was not ready when you expected. I hope that you will note an improvement in service as we return to full staffing levels. If you would like to contact me directly please either telephone the surgery or alternatively you can write to me. Many thanks for taking the time to make me aware of your experience. Best Wishes Ann Spooner Practice Manager
