  1. Review titled Misinformation

by Joshua Weston - Posted on 13 May 2024

I called up to get help with a mental health problem and received a call back from the mental health nurse. She prescribed me some medication and told me I would receive a call back in 4 weeks to be assessed to be put on a repeat prescription and offered some therapy. I did not receive any call back so I began to call up to get my prescription and regularly told quite rudely that they will do it this time or I should not be doing this and must call the doctor for a repeat. I have called many times and not been able to get an appointment so I used eConsult to try and instead of an appointment got a text message saying 'Your prescription has been sent to the pharmacy, please call up for a 6 month review to be to see if you can be put on repeat'. Today i finally managed to get an appointment only to be told that the doctor will give me two months worth and I will have to call up again after that and effectively the whole process starts again. I understand the pressures that GP surgeries are under and how busy they are but I have been told different information by every person I have spoken too.

  2. Review titled Disappointing

by Beverley - Posted on 28 March 2024

Visited recently for a check up as I have type 1 diabetes. The nurse I saw asked me to call in a couple of days to see if my blood results were back and if so said I should ask for a message to be passed to her so she could phone me to go through them. I called today to be told my results were in and were normal with no further action required. Sounds great, but I know my diabetes is not well enough controlled to get a 'normal' reading. The person I spoke to refused to pass on the message that I had been asked to give and just kept repeating my results were normal and no further action was required. I have since been able to access the results online and no surprise my HbA1c level is above target. I have two concerns, the first being that an out of target result has been classed as normal. Secondly, the person who took my call wouldn't pass on my message to the nurse. It may be that is their policy, but if so they should all be working the same way and I shouldn't have been asked to request a message be passed on. I have been working hard to get my diabetes better controlled and whilst this latest result was above target it is much improved. Sadly I am now left feeling demoralised, demotivated and on my own again. I have been with this surgery for two years and have had mixed experiences. This latest one is making me think perhaps I should change.
