Despite having a shared care agreement with hospital to prescribe medication and offer quarterly blood tests, the GP practice have now decided they no longer want to do this (after having done so for over 12 years!) So in the realm of ‘putting the patient first’, I will now need to take unpaid time off work to visit a hospital pharmacy once a month and visit hospital once a quarter for bloods. Thanks for putting me first!

Dear Anonymous We have recently run a search for all patients who are at high risk for taking medications prescribed on shared care agreements. This has taken place in practices across Sunderland this has been supported by colleagues in the ICB. Hospital Trust and the Local Medical Committee. In the shared care agreement that we sign for individual patients it is very clear that if the patient is at high risk for taking the medication, then this should be prescribed and monitored by our specialist colleagues in the hospital trust. It may be that your risk has changed over time and whilst previously it was safe for a GP to manage your care under a shared care agreement this is no longer the case. High quality clinical care is our foremost concern, and we would not wish to compromise this by prescribing or monitoring medication for patients where the risk is too great for a GP to manage safely. If you wish to contact the practice directly, we can arrange for a GP to speak to you regarding our decision and explain the reasons behind this for you as an individual. Sitting in pain because of a cyst down below, so filled in form to have a call from doctor. nearly 29 hours later and still no call despite telling them on the form that i was in pain because of this, i can't sit and the pain is getting worse so im going to ring 111. Absolutely ridiculous that you have to fill in forms and then they decide who gets a call first. Preferred it when we could ring up and actually get an appointment to see a doctor. I will be looking to change my doctor now

Thank you for your response. Alliancecare was implemented in April 2023 and all requests are triaged based on urgency of condition. i note that you submitted a requested 13/5/2024 and you have been given an appointment on 15/5/2024. You stated that you had had your condition for 4 days and that this was a recurring issue.

Had no idea what to do with the adoption form. Was not interested I even being there and still had her coat on. Made me feel uneasy whilst there and stressed me out . Don’t put your health in monument surgeries hands

As we come to the end of the year, we just wanted to tell you how much we appreciate all of the hard work carried out by everyone in the practice, both at Barmston and The Gallaries. We have each needed several appointments with GPs and Nurses throughout 2023. The care we have received has always been of the highest standard and delivered with warmth and empathy. Your Receptionists and admin staff are always very responsive, understanding and efficient. We are aware of the immense pressure on General Practice. However, the pressure you must be under is never obvious in the way in which you deliver the service. We envisage that you are like swans, gliding along the surface, whilst paddling furiously underneath! Once again, thank you for everything. We wish you all a happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous new year.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Barmston surgery for helping my 11 year old daughter yesterday at reception . She had lost her phone and was concerned and needed help and I had always taught her to go to the surgery if she was ever needing any help - reception called me on her behalf and stayed with her until someone safe arrived. I wanted to say a big personal thank you to you all

Since Barmston and Galleries doctors have started using their new triage system it has been so easy to get an appointment. You do it online no need to wait in a queue to be told there are no appointments left. Great work!

Monument at Galleries have a new system and it is working so much better never been more than 5th in the queue since rather than than 25th like before. They ring us back within the hour with an appointment depending on how urgent you need it. Also have an online form you can complete from the comfort of your own home rather than lengthy telephone queues.
