Called this morning at 8am with a concerning symptom. Was called back by a GP within an hour and seen 30 mins later. Examined, reassured and onward referral arranged. Couldn't ask for better care.

I’ve been a patient at this practice for close to a decade. I have no doubt the pandemic had an impact but when I have friends and family living in different areas who do not experience the same frustration and impossible access situation I decided it was time to post something. I feel quite strongly that system employed by this group practice effectively discriminates against working parents with younger children. The only option for getting an appointment is for same day and by queuing at the surgery before 0800. There are no bookable appointments beyond same day at all. The receptionists are so frustrated by having to deal with this they struggle to show any empathy anymore and there are no signs of any changes being made to their current approach. I’d be interested to see what profits the partnership are publishing and how much money the partners are making despite what I believe is an incredibly poor service for the patients that they serve. I’ve been writing this whilst waiting in a queue to try and book an on the day appointment and heard some horrible stories yet again!!

Suffering with loose stool for over 4 days suspected food poisoning. Requested to send in a stool sample but was informed I cannot do that unless I have an appointment and then I was told they have no appointments. All I was requesting was for a stool sample seeing as I cannot leave the house as I am suffering with d&v for 4 days. I do not need a health care professional to assess me I was simply requesting a stool analysis.

They only offer appointments on the day by phone or direct visit at 8am each day. This is an incredibly frustrating and useless system that means I have been unable to see my GP in person despite multiple attempts over several months, which has been actively detrimental to my ongoing health.

Saw the nurse for my HRT check and was told I need to see the doctor. The nurse then stated that unfortunately there aren’t any appointments available though and suggests I speak to reception. So I rejoin the queue and tell the receptionist that the practice nurse has advised me to see a doctor. She replies that there aren’t any appointments at all or any available to book at anytime in the future. She tells me I need to call at 8am or physically attend the surgery at 8am to book a same day appointment. I reply that I start work at 7.15am and can’t use my phone so neither of those options work. She then suggests I send a family member to attend or call on my behalf; I advise this isn’t possible either. She states it’s as frustrating for them as it is for me but there’s nothing she can do. There is no other solution offered and therefore I cannot get the required appointment. So I left the surgery in tears as I’m menopausal and my HRT isn’t working! (hence the need to see a doctor) The system doesn’t work and patients are continually left feeling they have no access to a GP. It’s frustrating, upsetting and completely unethical. The surgery needs to address its patient care as this is one of many occasions I have been denied my right to see a GP.

Myself and my family have recently moved to this surgery. As a family we are really pleased with the care received from this doctors surgery. After a brief telephone conversation with a doctor, I was asked if I would like to visit the doctors surgery in person on the same day as the telephone conversation, I was thoroughly examined and explained to in detail of my ailment, many thanks

After reporting a specific condition with a numbers of possible causes, I was very appreciative of a thorough examination and follow up tests to try and identify a cause. The GP fully explained his thinking and rationale for his proposed course of action. My questions and own considerations were fully answered and considered. I felt extremely well looked after and cared for. Sincere appreciation.

This review is no reflection on the staff who are very helpful but rather the system used by the surgery. In my experience it takes anywhere between 30 to 90 minutes waiting in a phone queue to get through to the appointment team, have never been able to get an appointment on the day or a future day unless it is an urgent care case. The staff advice is for the patient or a family member or friend to turn up at the surgery at 8am the next day to try and get an appointment ( not at all practical for many folks and very distressing if you feel very ill) . A very stressful experience for patients and is clearly not working if the surgery is asking if your friends or family can go to the surgery to help you make an appointment

I needed a same day appointment. After discussing symptoms with Receptionist she got me the last one available to see Nurse Practitioner. I had walked down to surgery on off chance for advice. Despite them being very short staffed due to illness ( yes they are human) I was impressed by the care I was given by Reception. The Nurse Practitioner saw me later that day and after examining me, taking history I was prescribed medication. I was so appreciative - and have a chance of feeling well for Christmas now. I am on track for follow up if things don't improve. The Pharmacy work v.hard in a small space- and obtained my medication for me. I have always found this Surgery to be there for me when I need medical help. I understand my part in the process though, and use their online system to order drugs ( in good time to recieve them ) manage symptoms myself ( before requesting an appointment) and if it was necessary - go to A&E or a walk in centre. Their online website information gives good medical advice on simple ailments and what to do in an Emergency. I feel as a Patient it is my responsibility to understand how the NHS can help me and what is my part in the process. I have witnessed awful behaviour in waiting room from patients towards Receptionists when their demands are unrealistic. Staff are doing their job and triage requests appropriately. Well done Ley Hill Surgery and Pharmacy despite difficult times. Thank You
