  1. Review titled Communication terrible

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Having requested to join the practice after my move to Tadcaster I found it difficult to contact on a personal level which meant I had to go into the Practice and ask for my logging in details for the NHS App. I was given this but I had to ask myself if I could have a new patient appointment, I was not offered this. The receptionist had to go back and forth to her computer to give me what I asked for. I was given a telephone appointment for 3 weeks time. I am 75 years old and have various health problems which requires me to have medication on repeat monthly. I thought these would have been on my patient records on the app but obviously they are not placed on my records automatically. I guess I will have to make another trip to the surgery with my repeat prescription given to me by my previous GP. I have tried ringing to but no avail no one appears to man a telephone, I cannot contact by email this is so bad for the elderly amongst us who I would believe need a GP more than younger people. God help those that do not have, or cannot use the internet. Wish I was still able to have my previous GP practice thy were brilliant, unfortunately I have moved out of their area so have no other choice. I am very worried now.

We are sorry to receive your feedback and would encourage you to contact us directly so that we can investigate this properly. All our new patients are advised by text or in person that they need to book a telephone review with the pharmacist to arrange for the transfer of their repeat medications, it would seem this did not happen in your case for which we apologise. In December 2024 (the latest data available) our average wait time on the phones was 1 minute and 25 seconds so we can assure you that we do answer them. We were struggling with intermittent service due to a BT fault yesterday when you logged this comment and we wonder if that has been your issue? Again we would encourage you to contact us directly so that we can investigate as we are conscious that some of our patients prefer to call rather than make contact online. Our website has email contact details to request medication and a contact form for other enquiries. We also have a link to our online consultation service on the front page. 2. Review titled Great GP replaced by Virtual GP service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2024

Unfortunately the practice has chosen to introduce a complete virtual triage service now do virtually impossible to get a fave to face appointment. The online triage doesn't open till 8 then closes early so you have to keep logging in daily until you can actually begin to find slot for a consultation. Having self diagnosed I managed to get onto the system and shared my self diagnosis, rather than actually check, the GP confirmed I was probably right and prescribed medication that is out of stock in all pharmacies across the UK. When I called the surgery to explain I was told I'd need to complete another online Consultation to get alternative treatment, however the system was closed for that day. Guess what? I logged on today and its already closed so 2 days after my self diagnosed consultation I have a useless prescription for out of stock medication and having to start the process from scratch. Thankfully it's nothing serious but I would be worried if I actually had something badly wrong with me.

We are sorry that you have had a poor experience with our triage system, it has been very popular with our patients since it was introduced last year as part of the national transition to Modern General Practice. The service is available from 08.00 and has a cap set for safety but once it is reached our patients are advised to call the Medical Centre for anything urgent and our reception team enter the consultation for them. This means that anyone with an urgent need to see or speak to a clinician can be guaranteed it the day they contact us. For more routine issues they are sent a link to book to be seen (or called) if the GP feels it is necessary, this triage service means that the wait to be seen by a GP for a routine problem is under two weeks at the moment. We apologise that your out of stock issue was not handled well by the reception team, our normal process is to pass these back to the on call team on the day for action and we will raise this and the impact it had on you with them. We note your feedback is anonymous but we would encourage you to contact us directly if you have any further issues. Drs Reeves, Turton, Pitt, Langridge, Reynolds and Moss

  4. Review titled Excellent and thoughtful practice.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Giles - Posted on 20 June 2023

My wife and myself have both required visits to the centre in the past couple of weeks for appointments with the nurse and face to face with a Doctor for what I considered could be a complex consultation that he made quite straightforward. Our experience from both makes us really appreciate how fortunate we are to be registered with Tadcaster medical Centre.

Been fortunate to have good health. But had two small issues recently and they have responded very quickly and have been really excellent. Very fortunate to be registered with them.
