  1. Review titled Difficulty with obtaining appointments.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sue Becker - Posted on 23 August 2023

I'm trying to get an appointment at the surgery as per the advice received by text after a recent blood test and as I'm sure , in common with the majority of my fellow citizens , I'm having huge difficulty. The text did emphasise that the matter isn't urgent so I do have that comfort. I did get through by phone once or twice but on receiving the information that the callback might be at any time over the following 48 hours I didn't proceed - I can't stay in for 48 hours !!! After that I accepted the reality of the situation and asked for the return of my mobile phone which I'd lent to a young neighbour while he saves up for one of his own. I don't like the thought of discussing my private business in public but I did get a callback and ran outside the building where I was situated at the time only to give up in frustration when I couldn't get any reception. I've now accepted the inevitable and installed the Evergreen app - supported by my fellow attendees at a technology for the bewildered class that I go to in Brixton. But how do I use this ? A receptionist at the practice forwarded me a phone number and email address for this organisation ...... there is a recorded message that makes it clear that they're aware that there's a problem when I dial the number but if if I understand things properly , I have to know what edition of the app I have. How do I find that out ? I have sent an email with my queries and assume that I'll receive a reply at some stage - in the interim I'll just carry on ringing. p.s. I have noticed some of the other negative reviews on the site talking about the portal [ is that the right word ? ] closing at 8.01a.m. - is this right. I have let the practice know about my difficulties over the phone but there hasn't been a huge amount of interest shown to be honest. p.p.s. I've tried to carry on with this process and received the prompt that reviews with capital letters can't be processed - I can only see that I'd put p.s. in upper case which is gramatically correct as far as I know so if I do get to the end and you see my lower cases p.s.s , please don't think that it's me !!

  2. Review titled Too hard too deal with

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Matt - Posted on 30 August 2023

I find the computerised AskMyGP facility completely inhumane. If you get on early enough to actually make a request, but your request doesn’t quite fit the flow chart, then you get shut down with no chance of a conversation or explaining. Then you have to wait for the following day to start again. I wonder how many people who are not really comfortable with computers are missing out on treatment as a result of this system, because those of us who are pretty good with computers are missing out. No wonder A&E gets so busy. This system, and the lack of support from the practice, has had members of my family in tears on numerous occasions. That can’t be a good sign, especially when the reason we are contacting the GP is because something is wrong. This only adds to the stress of it all. I really feel that things are made worse rather than better. When you do get a message from someone, it is often not as requested - eg an email rather than a phone call. When you do actually see a GP in person then most of them are great and reassuring. But the battle to get to see someone is too big. I believe everyone who goes to work there does so because they are a caring person, so they must be disappointed or upset to read this. I think it is time to change the system to a more caring and accessible one.

  3. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 July 2023

I have had cause to visit the practice twice in the last month, in relation to ongoing symptoms of the menopause. On both occasions I was met by sympathetic, informed and proactive doctors. I felt listened to, that appropriate action was taken to address the immediate issues and that a plan to follow up on my progress will mean that I will not get 'lost in the system'. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Updated review

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Alan Bailey - Posted on 08 March 2023

Having looked into the problem of appointments I have done some, not very scientific, research and found that getting appointments seems to be a pretty widespread problem. Media and press reports bear this out, so it appears to be a problem created by NHS policy. Therefore the practice is perhaps only acting with the tools available, so I have upgraded my review to neutral. The problem appears to be the implementation of the Askmygp system which allows a quota system as well as limiting the time people are allowed to book appointments. If the quota is met on one day, the patient is then forced to start the appointments process anew each day until they hit the jackpot and get an appointment. This appears to be a self defeating system whereby if the surgery is unable to meet it’s daily quota the number of patients in the queue will increase each day. Having said all of this my experience at the surgery is positive, but that may in part be because it appears to have very few patients on the premises whenever I have visited for routine tests.

  7. Review titled Impossible to even raise a request to speak to GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 December 2022

I have been trying for weeks to raise a request to speak to a GP. Every time I do so the practice is offline. Even at 8am. Practice staff do not wish to help and simply have a tough luck attitude, or tell you to call 111 or go to a&e. Basically impossible to get any kind of contact with a medical professional as they close their online portal at 8:01 despite being allegedly open for requests until 12pm everyday. They also refuse to give practice manager contact details out at all.
