Review titled Poor Musculoskeletal practitioner
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nicola yates - Posted on 13 November 2024
I saw the Musculoskeletal practitioner today (13/11/24) this appointment was made after a consultation with the Dr regarding a resent x-ray. The Dr suggested an injection would be possible hence the appointment with Msk practitioners and if he was not able he would be able to refer me to the relevant person. The practitioner said I could not have it because I had no swelling and that Dr shouldn’t have told me I could have one with him not being the specialist and couldn’t give them himself. The practitioner was abrupt with me and spoke to me rudely with no empathy when he knew I was upset because he wouldn’t give me an injection to relieve my pain. He said I just need to exercise, which I questioned because of my knee pain, and the osteoarthritis in my hips and spinal degeneration his answer was that I am not listening and just repeated that I don’t have swelling. I felt too upset to continue with appointment and just left with no help or advice. I found the practitioner to have the same manner on my previous appointment were he said he was pre-empting the results of my x-ray that there will be some wear and tear but will not open up any treatment or solutions. Therefore, this next appointment he had already made up his mind and was dismissive to my questions regarding where I go now with my knee if I can’t have the injection. I feel after the two appointments with the practitioner they were a waste of time, upsetting and belittling therefore, I will not be recommending his services to anyone and will in the future ask to be referred or sent to someone else.

Review titled Messed around
Rated 1 star out of 5

Took me and my partner 189 tries to get through to the gp once through got an appointment for a different surgery turned up and at the same time got a text for another different surgery only to get there at 21:15pm and the doctor had gone because apparently our appointment was at 6:30pm half hour before the first with no message about the 6:30 appointment! This was an appointment for my partner who is struggling with his mental health to which I am fuming and disgusted with! Having to return home with my partner not in a good way and without seeing a gp! Driving around different surgeries with no outcome! I understand practices are busy but this is absolutely disgraceful I will also be making a formal complaint in person and via email to the surgery direct!

The nurse was absolutely brilliant and understanding. She explained everything perfectly. She understood my issues and was very friendly and easy to talk to.

Review titled Difficult experience

I recently decided to contact Alistair Ross surgery due a groin pain which had been getting worse over a period of 2 weeks. I did not hold out much hope of a quick appointment but was pleasantly surprised by the helpful receptionist who provided an appointment that afternoon with a Gp. After a brief examination it was decided that i should have a scan for a possible hernia and the Gp would organise this. A few days later I received a text from appointments to contact them to arrange a date for the scan. When I contacted them they gave me a date a month later with no ability to improve it. Obviously the GP had not attached any note on the urgency. After trying to get a more timely appointment with no success I had to go to the A&E department. I was eventually admitted for 3 days and 2 nights while a scan was organised. The hernia was diagnosed, was put on the priority waiting list and discharged. I was then contacted by a clerk from Alistair Ross asking if a doctor could have a telephone conversation with me. I naturally agreed and had a useful conversation later that afternoon on why I had had to go to A&E. The conversation finished with the doctor pointing out that if the symptoms got worse to contact the surgery without hesitation. The symptoms have become worse and I contacted the surgery for a telephone conversation with the Dr as he had started the process by calling me. I explained my situation to the clerk who said the earliest telephone appointment was in a month. I expressed my disbelief in the circumstances which I attempted to explain to the clerk but it was clear she was not listening and started to trot out the well known lines regarding the inflexible GP appointment process. She attempted to stop me speaking but I refused to stop my explanation. I brought the conversation to an end abruptly. The clerk had no ability to listen and there was clearly no professional available who could triage my situation. GPs are not god like entities who require protection by untrained individuals in what can be demanding medical situations. They are normal humans who have chosen a particular career path for any number of reasons and to serve unfortunate members of society. For the GP service, this fact seems to have become lost in the mists of time

Review titled Bad experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Called in to see if my husband prescription ready, to be told it was down for signing that day Monday, told the receptionist that he run out of one of the medication and he would need it today( baring in mind prescription went in on the Thursday) was told to ring back later which I did, to be told it wouldn't be signed till the end of surgery and ring back just after 6pm, ring back after 6pm no answer kept on ringing finally get through answering machine, go down to chemist to be told no prescription, if I needed emergency medication would have to ring out of hours, when your husband relies on certain medications this is not acceptable to have to ring round trying to get his tablets, ring Bardot to get medication then have to go and pick prescription up, this is not a duty of care when someone relies on there medication.

Review titled Awful practice

Can't fault the admin/receptionists or nurses here but the drs are terrible, their attitudes towards patients are awful, dismissive and down right rude and they even eye roll you when you try to dicuss important things with them. The locum drs that come to this practice are 100% better and thorough with patients more than the permanent drs here.
