I’m not a regular user of The Allen practice but whenever I need a consultation or a referral I’m so pleased to be registered with you. Available, professional, listen, considerate, understand next steps and take action in a timely manner. At anytime one could not expect more, during these times I can only thank you….you are a role model for “best practice “

Using the Patient Access on-line facility, I was able to book an appointment within one week. The Doctors advice was clear, concise and easily understood. We are fortunate to have such a good surgery in our area.

I have been a patient for a couple of years now and cannot fault the service I have received at the Allan Practice. From speaking to the receptionists and to then having phone calls or face to face appointments with the doctors everyone has been friendly and welcoming and my concerns have been dealt with swiftly and followed up when needed.

A few recent interactions with regarding my elderly mother have been very good. Aside for prompt calls (many times ahead of scheduled times), the doctor has demonstrated great patience and empathy when dealing with my elderly mother and has gone out of his way to find short and long term solutions. A great start to the new practice. thank you!

This is a good practice and the doctors and nurses are very friendly and provide great health care. It’s always been easy for me to get a telephone appointment and they answer messages very quickly on the NHS App and Patient Access. However I would say that whenever I have spoken to secretaries that I have found them quite unhelpful and rude at times.

Thank you A. I am sorry that your were not able to offer more stars but I appreciate your honest feedback! It sounds like your interactions with our secretaries is what held you back from posting a higher rating. In their defence, I know that they run extremely busy desks with often a constant queue of patients waiting to talk to them. (Unfortunately limited NHS resources prevent us from having a larger pool of secretaries.) I guess this means that they have to strike the right balance between being succinct / to the point and spending too long on any one call. Although not intended, at times this may come across as abrupt or rude to some. That said, they receive regular training on telephone manner and what we expect from them and I will ensure that your comments are fed back appropriately. Kind regards, Dr. Gurjit S. Dhesi

I saw the doctor yesterday at very short notice. I phoned the surgery just after 9 am and was offered an appointment at 10.30. I was very anxious that I was developing a DVT. My concern was immediately recognised by the secretary I spoke to on the phone which was excellent. The doctor was very thorough and she explained everything carefully. She measured my blood pressure and weight. She examined my lower leg very thoroughly and I was reassured by her diagnosis. At no time I feel she was rushing. She was very caring and empathetic in her response to how I was feeling.

I have been a patient at this practice for many years and have always received the best possible support. I was recently in hospital and since being discharged have spoken to both my GP and the pharmacist about my medication. Both were very helpful and supportive which gave me a lot of confidence. I know I can contact the practice who will respond quickly which is most reassuring. I am very happy with the support I am receiving and the professionalism of the practices staff. First class well run practice in my experience which I’d have no hesitation recommending.

I phoned at 11.00 am asking for help with my mother’s infected eye. Mum is 87 and needs support. The Secretary helpfully sent me an email link for brief background and a picture. She also arranged a GP call for 4.30 that day. By 4.15 pm the GP had diagnosed and sent 2 prescriptions (sorting a separate issue too) to my home Boots. By 5.30 pm I had been able to start treatment. This was super-efficient and highly-personal professional care, countering all current comments about our inaccessible NHS.

GPs always available by phone or in person even during the pandemic. Never a long wait. Concerns always listened to with doctors consulting at higher level when necessary and ordering appropriate tests.

I woukd like to thank my GP at this practice and his secretaries for all their support during my 5 months back ordeal. After a successful spinal decompression I am able to walk, work and enjoy life again ! Thank you NHS
