Review titled Amazing service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2024
Saw Louise today and she took my weight, height, blood pressure and blood. She was so so lovely and kind and caring and warming. I felt so comfortable with her with me and she is doing an amazing job. As someone who suffers with terrible anxiety and is afraid to talk to people, Louise just put me at ease. Thank you for today, Louise.

Very polite, friendly lady who gave me two appointments over the phone. Seen within a day of ringing. Always amazing service when I call the surgery

Review titled Standards.

I have been with the GP practice for the past 20 years. From august last year to now the surgery every month do not give me the correct amount of medication that is prescribed to me by my consultant. Every time i contact the GP surgery regarding the medication they explain i need an appointment with a doctor at the practice to confirm if i am allowed to have the medication. It is in writing by the consultant that i need the medication in an increasing dosage of Mg but every month they give me the wrong amount and then tell me i need to pay twice for the same prescription. I have to further explain the amount of medication that i need but i am usually denied it and then told at a later date that they can do it. I cannot go day to day without this medication and in the past i was denied having it for 3 weeks which broke the cycle the consultant had asked for.

Dear Miss Ward, I am sorry to hear the issues you have been finding with obtaining your prescription. I would advise you to book a telephone consultation with our practice pharmacist to assist in resolving this for you. If you experience any further issues, please do not hesitate to ask to speak to a member of the senior management team. Many thanks, Jade Harris- Assistant practice manager

Review titled Not helpful.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Aimee Ward - Posted on 28 September 2024
This is the second review I will be leaving for this month due to the practice not helping me with my medication. I left a review on the 20th of September explaining how the GP hasn’t helped me with sorting my medication which has been prescribed to me by my neurological consultant. I ordered my next round of medication and told the GP the exact amount of dosage that I need which is also in writing. They said they would do this for me and sent it to the pharmacy. I contacted the pharmacy to find out if all of my medication was ready to find out the GP hasn’t sent them the full amount of medication that is needed. I contacted the GP and explained and I asked for a telephone consultation like I was told to do on my last review. I was denied a telephone consultation and the lady on the phone said she would send the rest of the medication to the pharmacy for me and it would be ready for this Friday. I called the pharmacy on Friday to find out if it was ready to be told that nothing had been sent through from the GP and there wasn’t any medication there. So I called the GP again and asked them and they said I could no longer order it on the phone, so again I requested an appointment with the pharmacist specialist like I was told to do on my last review and was yet again denied a telephone consultation with them as they were ‘too busy at the moment’ there wasn’t any efforts to try and have a look to book the appointment with her and I am honestly very upset. I need this medication every single day to try and manage the rare neurological disorder that I have. And it feels as though I’m having no help from the GP practice regarding what is going on.

Review titled Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I called for an appointment at 1pm on a Friday afternoon and received a phone call at 5.30pm from the most compassionate, kind GP I have ever experienced. He was understanding of my situation and made me feel heard regarding a condition I’ve suffered with for most of my life. Very grateful for his support and empathy.

Review titled Worst GP experience I have ever had
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jennifer yeates - Posted on 10 June 2024
I have moved a lot a been registered at a number of different GP practises and Whitchurch Health Centre is by far the worst. There is no online booking system or phone queue so when I had severe itchiness whilst pregnant and was advised by the midwife to see my GP it took over 30 phone calls before I could get through. Once through I had to wait 5 days for a telephone appointment and then 3 weeks was the next available slot to a liver function blood test. The appointment was booked for 8.19 and I had various text reminders confirming this, however upon arriving at the surgery I discover that they do not open until 8.30 so why has an appointment been booked for a time they are closed? !!

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had issues contacting us for an appointment. We do have a queuing option on the phone, however we only have a certain number of lines. We do offer e-consult as another way to book a routine appointment. This is available on our practice website. We are open from 7:30am for some treatment room appointments. Although the door is closed, there is a sign advising patients to press a bell which is located to the side of the door. A member of the team will then come and let you in for your appointment. Assuring you of our best intentions. Many thanks, Jade Harris Assistant Practice Manager

Review titled Overworked

My experience was with a nurse practitioner who I have to say was brilliant. However today I need to ask something but have no way of getting in touch except the dreaded phone!. Can I suggest they look at a better website where you could leave messages for people to be able to get back to you over the following few days. Other surgeries use them which frees up the phone lines and you might even get appts if people aren’t blocking the system. Might also be helpful if nhs build more surgeries to help with the building boom in the area to share the load better. Then u have to find GPs who live this side of Bristol so they don’t have to travel across Bristol. ( probably y north Bristol had better gp services than the south!)

Review titled Renowned locally as appalling
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2024
It’s so sad that so so many people in Whitchurch view this practice as extremely poor. I wonder if it’s because Whitchurch has grown in size and it has too many patients on its books? The fact that the phone line is almost impossible to get through on, people go down and queue at 8am to get an appointment, there’s no ‘you are 3rd’ in line whilst you wait on the phone. So frustrating. Recent experience is that no one contacted my mother back with her results on numerous tests, it took me to review them in her NHS app and request a doctor to call to explain them all. Someone needs to relieve this practice of its pressures so it can perform to a better standard. I know people that avoid addressing health concerns as they know it’s so hard to get through / make an appointment. I have luckily moved out of Whitchurch and my new surgery is the absolute opposite of Whitchurch, I feel blessed I moved away, sadly.

Review titled Really bad experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2023
I had a call this morning with one of the nurses about my condition. I suffer from diabetes Type 2. The person on the phone was very rude to me, and condescending, to the point that when the call ended I felt even worse that before the call. She judged me and treated me like a child, assuming that I wasn't looking after myself properly, therefore they can't help me either. After this I am changing practice. Horrible experience.

Review titled Unheloful

I called this morning to talk to someone regarding HRT. I was told that earliest was 8.8.23…3 weeks away. I said I needed to come the meds as I am experiencing problems. I was told it was this appointment or nothing. I was not offered a doctors appointment or triage call. The receptionist hasn’t the medical understanding to decide not to offer a person medical help. HRT is prescribed by a doctor and my last review in 2020 I had to request. I am appalled at the lack of interest by this practice.
