This surgery is appalling, I have spent hours on the phone trying to get appointments but you are blocked at every turn . I suffer with lifetime pain and it’s impossible to get help . I have had to resort to buying things I need online , I sam at my wits end with them . I would strongly suggest if you have another surgery option take it

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to read that you feel this way about the practice. Demand for appointments at the Avenue and the NHS in general is at an all time high, that coupled with the national shortage of clinicians makes having enough appointments available for all a huge challenge. Recruitment at the Avenue is ongoing, and we are doing as much as we can to source appropriate clinical cover. It is hoped the situation will improve, and will remain as one of our main points of focus. I would not advocate purchasing medicine online however desperate you are. If you are unable to get an appointment at the surgery, you can contact NHS 111 or visit a local urgent treatment centre, local pharmacy or A&E. I would be happy to look into your situation in more detail, but would need further information from you. If you want me to do this, please contact me at the surgery. Many thanks, Aaron Hill Operations Manager

  2. Review titled Disgraceful

Was a really good practice until taken over by a faceless " group". Changes policy without prior notification to patients, which just leaves patients unable to recieve their medications. Takes forever to get through, and then "policy" means no- one will help. If this is the future of general practice god help us all.

Dear Patient, Apologies for the delay in responding to your review, we were experiencing some technical issues in uploading a response. Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to read that you feel this way about the practice. Any medicine that is prescribed to patients needs to be done safely. We have been reviewing our own internal processes and as a result this has caused a small delay to some patients. However, things have improved since beginning the process review. I would be happy to look into your situation in more detail, but would need further information from you. If you want me to do this, please contact me at the surgery. Many thanks, Aaron Hill Operations Manager

  3. Review titled If you are lucky enough to get an appointment they're good

Nearly impossible to get through to them to the phone. No phone queueing system, just engaged tone over and over again.

Dear Patient We are sorry for delays you experienced when trying to telephone the surgery, when you heard the continual engaged tone. We experience high call volumes at peak times and appreciate how difficult it can be to get through. The problem was compounded last week when there was an external fault with one of our lines. BT have now fixed the fault. We do acknowledge the shortcomings of our current telephone system and we are installing a new system in the next few weeks. Features will include a call queuing facility and a call back facility for callers unable to wait. Thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Ros Clayton Practice Manager The Avenue Surgery

  4. Review titled Unreachable

Rated 1 star out of 5

It’s exasperating trying to book an appointment with this surgery. For someone who is ill, having to redial for over an hour first thing in the morning because the surgery doesn’t have a system in place to book appointments in advance, or via an internet booking system or anything other than calling up insistently, is beyond frustrating. I usually give up after dialling 200 times because I cannot get through and it’s too stressful.

Dear Patient We are sorry for the poor impression you have gained of our surgery. The demand for patient appointments has risen dramatically over the last year and there is a national shortage of NHS clinical staff. This means we do not have the capacity to offer enough appointments to satisfy the demand. We appreciate how frustrating it can be to get through to the surgery and acknowledge the limitations with our current telephone system. To address this a new telephone system will be implemented in Sept/Oct 2022. We are doing the best we can to look after our patients in very challenging times. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Yours sincerely Ros Clayton Practice Manager
