Review titled Excellent service.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth hammond - Posted on 02 September 2024
The Blandford Group Practice have always been exceptionally helpful to us as a family. Today was no exception. I sent an anima request at 8.30 - had a call back at 8.40 and saw an excellent and efficient practitioner at 10.10. I think that is brilliant. He was kind and helpful and sorted me out completely! I think that’s pretty good by any standards. Thank you.

Review titled Really.Pathetic?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 October 2024
Begging on August was told by the surgery that they would investigate my issues.Had an email from the surgery that they would get back to me soon. And I am still waiting. Just a total waste of time. And my medical record on the NHS are totally out of date.Pathetic.

Review titled How can Doctor go on strike as there are never Doctor there when you want one.
by Concerned - Posted on 05 August 2024
In June this year I made a request on system's online for stronger pain killers for my osteo-arthritis and my psychiatrist wrote to the surgery in late September. "Action for gp. Please could you speak to patient about possible pain relief for the osteoarthritis in his knees. To this date I have not heard a word from the surgery. They have pushed me into a position where I will not suffer the mental strain of contacting them myself and have to live with the pain. It seems now they will take industrial action over contracts. This will make no difference as they provide no service now. The national rating of this surgery is so bad that is now an embarrassment to the nhs.

Review titled The road to depression.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Harold Shipman - Posted on 07 March 2024
Today went to the surgery and saw a practitioner nurse. Made it plain in my Anima submittal that I had an ear infection that had been going on continuously and that also I needed to know why my My blood count had dropped so much and what I should do about it. Very arrogant from the start and made me fully understand that we are now cattle and not really worth taking up their valuable time. I told her that she was upsetting my mental health but she did not care, she then wanted to do an ear swab and asked me if I preferred to do it myself and for years now Doctors have been saying don't put anything in your ears. I said "you do it and let me get out of here".You get told your blood count is bad but never what to do about it and its the same with referrals, they will give you one but it never happens because no Doctors can be found. You get test result but nobody tells you what they are and GP Behind Closed Doors...Not here I am afraid, its just go away to your corner and don't bother us with your trivial matters. I need now to book three different appointments for three different problems and to be honest I rather just suffer in pain. Some country's don't have a nation health service...how lucky they are..

Review titled Terrible treatment
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had an appointment at 4:30 pm today arriving 10 minutes before and booked in with receptionist. After 45 minutes I checked to see if the doctor was running late the receptionist said I’d not been booked in but the doctor would see me if I waited .two other patients arrived one went in before me it was now 6 pm, when the doctor came again I assumed I’d be next but she called someone else. I explained that I’d been waiting an hour and surely I should be next she accused me of not signing in or attending I tried showing her my appointment letter but she ignored me. I was really upset and tried explaining this to the receptionist she asked how urgent the problem was I front of others and if I waited she’d see me but I said I’d like to see someone else. I was so angry and frustrated I said to forget it She said I’d have to wait until tomorrow to rebook

Review titled ‘Anima’ Age Accessibility Issues
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Philip Hodgkins - Posted on 14 February 2024
My wife and I are elderly, and I am also deaf so cannot use the telephone. We also have difficulty coping with online systems, especially when encountering technical language. For this reason we have done our best to avoid registering for the ‘Anima’ system introduced by the Blandford Group Practice. However it would appear that in some way totally unbeknown to either of us that my wife has been registered for ‘Anima’ and this has given rise to delays and difficulties over the last couple of days in getting treatment for my wife in respect of a recurrent infection with somewhat distressing symptoms.

Review titled Excellent service today.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth Hammond - Posted on 25 January 2024
My 82 year old husband is poorly and coughing up yucky phlegm. I called the surgery and as the lines were busy, requested a call back The receptionist called back and was extremely pleasant and very helpful - and within 45 minutes we had an appointment with a paramedic at Eagle House surgery. This man( sadly, can’t remember his name )/was exceptionally kind to my husband , but also very efficient! Problem diagnosed and prescription sorted. A very pleasant experience all round - especially for my poorly husband who was feeling really rotten. Top marks Blandford Group Practice!

Review titled No care no compassion
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 December 2023
s made very plain to me by the Doctor 10 minutes only talk about one problem. When I left my feeling was "your old how dare you have more than one problem "I found the Doctor quite dogmatic about this. There is now no such thing as a bond with your Doctor as you never see the same person and it seems like a conveyer belt service. There seemed to be no allowance for my mental condition and this left me feeling very low. The national rating of the Practice really shows how things are. It would seem that if you have more than one problem you just need to get over yourself and suffer on. The one thing I did notice is that the reception staff seemed more caring than the Doctor's. I do understand that there are a lot more patients to deal with but you still need to give a caring service where people are not to scared to contact the Doctor. I would hope thing might improve but I doubt it.

Review titled Fantastic Service!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 December 2023
Submitted an anima request this morning and had a call back within half an hour for a face to face appointment. I have always felt The Blandford Group Practice have been a good doctors surgery with excellent and friendly staff, but this new system makes accessibility even better than before. Thank you for looking for new ways to stay up to date with modern technology and improve the service!

Review titled Really difficult to contact
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Emma A - Posted on 08 November 2023
I had a phone appointment with the locum GP this morning. However, the call dropped and I had no way to contact the surgery (voicemail message, all phone lines busy, end of call) to advise them of this, or to request the call on another number. The phone lines no longer have a waiting option, Anima doesn't have a 'general communication' option, and there is no email or text contact for the practice. Any one of these would have been a good option. That said, the GP did call back later and I was able to share an alternative number with them. They were excellent, professional and thorough and they couldn't have been more helpful. It's a shame that persistent communication issues let down an underlying excellent service. I wonder how many people without access to the internet are missing out on healthcare as a result of this. Please can we have call waiting or other form of communication re-instated alongside Anima?

Dear Emma Thank you for your feedback regarding communication with the surgery. Our telephony system does have a call back option integrated into it. However the phones have been extremely busy and we have had a lot of staff sickness over the last few months, making communication even harder. We are working on this and trying to make improvements to the service we are providing. Regarding your feedback for the General Practitioner this will be forwarded on. Kind regards The Blandford Group Practice
