Review titled V poor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 February 2023
I have used the practice for over 10 years and it's service has declined over the last few years to the point its v poor. Ask my gp worked fine but that has been discarded for the v frustrating daily calling at 8am, just to find after 226 calls no appointments left call back tomorrow or I'm offered an appointment across the city! Apparently once I've seen them they can refer you back to your own gp.. dumbfounded. A simple phone call is all I needed. Everything seems to be batted off onto someone else. Even booking a simple blood test. My opinion is that they have over stretched themselves with the amount of patients they've taken on and unable to manage. Very disappointed.

Review titled Poor

I have received an automatic letter to make an appointment for Long Term Condition review and another automatic letter to make an appointment for a regular test. * No one picks up the phone whatever time of day * Ring back is not operating (voice recording says it is not activated * GP appointment service not working This is an absolute disgrace. God help anyone who needs an urgent appointment or anyone who can't get medication because of the review not happening (me shortly!). Unresponsive and therefore will have to change service.

Review titled Can't get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2023
The doctors are usually brilliant. Had issues getting an appointment before. Then they fixed this with Askmygp then they removed it. Reception doesn't pick up the phone so you cant make appointments. Have to physically go to the reception @8am for a chance of an appointment. Funnily enough not usually busy when you do. If they can't handle the number of patients reduce the quota of patients!

Review titled Awful practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Girish G - Posted on 17 February 2023
Been a patient of this practice for over 30 years and sadly seen a huge decline in service as the regular doctors and support staff retired or left for greener pastures. Staff turnover tells you a lot about how such a practice is being run. I have chronic conditions that require regular check ups and medication on an ad hoc basis. Firstly, can never get through on the phone and when you do we get a call back from a locum doctor who at times does not read the records about your condition and waffles on trying to make an assessment over the phone without a proper examination or listening to your needs. Other times been sent to the walk in centre across the road, who were brilliant, so why can’t they do the same at the practice? Secondly, AskGp was removed and then we receive text messages for long term condition review and are asked to book via their portal. This portal is always down! Can’t book so then I call the surgery and can’t get through! When we do manage to book, we get a message on the day to say sorry but our appointment has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. This has happened on more than one occasion. Additionally, regular blood tests are a nightmare at this practice. I always request a nurse who is able to draw blood from other parts of the hand apart from the forearm as they can never find my veins. But when I show up, the nurse is unable to find the veins and is unable to draw from front of hand or wrist as not trained to do so! So I end up going to the General Hospital where the nurses are absolutely brilliant and never had a problem finding veins on forearm. Why can’t the nurses at this practice do the same! Never had this problem with previous permanent nurses who were at the practice. Results of any tests are never discussed with you and you have to chase them to ask about the outcome. We understand that the system is under pressure but if other practices and hospitals are able manage their patients with care and compassion then why can’t Oadby Central Surgery to the same? Would welcome feedback from practice director/partner.

Review titled Sort it out!!
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I would love to know how hard it is or the cost of implementing a system where you know what number you are in a queue! The phone lines are engaged, askmygp has been discontinued and if you get through then the appointments are usually taken. No wonder they don’t bother picking up the phone, they don’t want to see you. No care or concern as to why you may be calling. This was a great practice when first joined 5 years ago and I don’t know who took over or why the decided to change a system that worked. Covid19 isn’t a virus that takes over computer systems, so what happened to askmygp? Find a model from another practice and copy it. How can covid hit and phone lines stop working? Two years!! Fix it. You’re an nhs service to help people not add to their mental health issues. You’re making patients feel like they aren’t worth anything.

Review titled Not the best ..But!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by John Mcloughlin - Posted on 23 November 2022
I've been at this practise for 22yrs now. I've watched it fall apart over the past few years. However, they have adapted and now use a pharmacist for telephone consultations. I find this better than talking to a stressed GP who can't know everything about what he's prescribing. I think the use of the pharmacist is a good move in the right direction. There is so much wrong with this practise, but I believe that's not their aim. They need to get a grip and bin those silly masks like the rest of us have..

Review titled Astonishingly poor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2022
I have rarely needed to visit, or consult a GP. I completely understand that surgeries are under unprecedented pressure, and I have a daughter who is a trainee GP. However, I can’t even begin to express how disappointed I am with the treatment I have received. I have 2 issues. The first is a simple procedure, which my old surgery would have done, in house and without hesitation. Central surgery passed me from pillar to post. I had to phone multiple times, I was on occasions, called back. The Dr and nurse clinician never seemed to be contactable and finally, 6/8 weeks later, I have been told I will be referred to the hospital. What a waste of time and precious NHS money for something so small!! My 2nd issue is physical, is causing me pain and is recurring. A doctor has phone consulted me twice, requested tests, but never discussed the results of these with me, and sniggered during my last phone consult when I asked him what we could do next. He concluded by telling me to ask someone at the hospital when I see them. I don’t think this doctor is fit to be a GP, or a doctor in any capacity. In my opinion, he seems to want to simply tick a box to say he has called the patient back, so he’s done his bit. Frankly, the surgery is a joke and I seriously hope that anyone with a more serious medical problem is seen, responded to and taken more seriously and in a timely manner.
