Review titled Awful Practice and have got even worse
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 May 2024
I am on anti-depressants and when I initially rang up the practice to ask for my prescription to be extended or to have a review I got huffed at and told they’d call me back - I never got called back. Due to my work schedule I couldn’t call again until a couple of days later. When I did call and explain the reason for calling again, I was told I needed to email only to get a text message four hours later saying I needed to call. I called again and was told that I needed a review (how has it taken three phone calls to get to this point?). I was told I couldn’t have a review until 7th May (2 weeks later and by which put I’ve ran out of medication). On a number of occasions prior to 7th May, I was receiving several cold calls from a “No Caller ID” so wasn’t answering. On the morning of the 7th May, I received another one of these calls which again was ignored only to receive a text message shortly after from the practice asking if I still needed a review as I’ve not spoken to them… yes I need a review. It’s scheduled for later today, why would you schedule a review and then just cold call people at random times without thought or consideration for diaries, work schedule etc. and then expect people to not want their review that they’ve waited for? At the time scheduled for the review I sat and waited and after 10 minutes of waiting for a phone call I decided to ring the practice and find out what’s going on only to be told the individual is still on the phone with someone else and they’ll call me when they’re available. This is simply not good enough, I, like many other people have busy work schedules and have to schedule reviews and appointments around lots of other priorities, not only is it poor that I’ve had to wait two weeks to try and get more anti-depressants which doesn’t seem to be taken seriously, but I’m also not being given any ounce of respect to give me a call at the time scheduled. Not even an apology. And the worst of it is, I wish I could say this is a one off, but this is the standard of this practice and has been for as long as I can remember. Truly awful.

Review titled Useless

I rang today for an appointment at Huntington for anxiety attacks I was sobbing on the phone and was told 15th march earliest, this is disgusting for mental health. I rang back they said come to Cannock to see duty doctor I got there in a state and it was an hour wait. I asked for a buzzer so I could sit in the car and the receptionist said why do you need that, I am not going to explain my condition in a full surgery very rude. I ended up leaving as my anxiety would not let me wait. I have resorted to ringing the Samaritans just for some help. This doctors is so bad now.

Dear Patient, thank you for your recent feedback. Please accept our sincere apologies for the experience that you have had with our Practice. We do make patients aware that if you have an appointment with the Duty Doctor you may have to wait due to the uncertainty of the reasoning of why Patients are receiving urgent care, we can't predict how long each urgent consultation is going to take. We do have buzzers available to sit in your car while you wait, so I will highlight this with this team to make sure all staff are aware that this should be an option. We now have two Mental Health Practitioners working at the Practice, we hope that this can improve the service we offer and may be an option for you if you need it in the future. If you have any more feedback or have any suggestions on how we can improve the service that we offer please do let us know by telephone 01543 435390 or via letter/ email thecollierpractice@nhs.net.

Review titled No appointments with a nurse
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My husband attended A&E Saturday. Has badly cut his finger and has a fracture. Told to phone for an appointment with nurse to change dressing on Tuesday, so I rang Monday but no appointments for over a week? I explained he needs dressing changed due to possible infection but told to go to Samuel Johnson in Lichfield, ok if you can get there. Can't believe you have two surgeries but no available appointments with a nurse for over a week. I have been with this surgery since 1985 it used to be good so what happened?

I am very sorry that you have had this experience at the practice. Unfortunately, one of our practice nurses left recently and her replacement has had to give three months' notice. I have tried to cover all of the clinics but this is not always possible, therefore we occasionally have to signpost patients to other services. One of our nurses has agreed to do some extra sessions this week so i would be grateful if you could contact me on Wednesday morning to arrange an appointment in the practice for your husband as soon as possible. Thank you, Practice Manager.

Review titled Awful service

I was prescribed medication over 6 months ago, My symptoms came back and required a repeat prescription, The extremely unhelpful woman on the phone took much gratification in telling me I can't speak to anyone for 4 weeks, even after telling them I'm bleeding, in pain and need it asap This branch really needs to replace or retain there staff, Iv now have no choice but to seek private health care due the the incompetence of this practice. This is only the lastest issue iv had with these people, I'd be here all day writing about how they fob anyone under 30 off for OAPs
