  2. Review titled Absolutely awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Bal - Posted on 21 June 2023

I just called to try and make an appointment, of course no appointments are left which would happen since I always seem to be number 9 on telephone waiting. I called this morning to book the home visit appointment but was told they have meetings every Wednesday and cannot book appointments. When reception picked up this afternoon they said I should’ve been booked an appointment this morning- and she wasn’t working this morning so it’s not down to her. This is an excuse I have numerous times from this practice. Surely all staff work with the same policy, despite who picks up the phone?? Reception at the practice is awful, but GPs are good. Good luck trying to get to the GPs though!

Dear Patient Every month there is a Protective Learning Event on a specific Wednesday morning for all GPs in Redbridge. As cover, the Redbridge ICB have a service set up for patients to call and book with GPs they provide. We explain this to all our patients that call on these Wednesday mornings, additionally we have notices up in the surgery for patients that come to the surgery. Please note all the dates for the PLEs for this year are posted on our website. It’s clear you didn’t understand that, from the conversations you had with our receptionist, I apologise for us not explaining it effectively to you. If you would like more clarity on this and on our appointment system, please contact us and ask to speak to me Regards Practice Manager

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The GPs are very knowledgeable and friendly. They care about patients and practice holistically. They are not rushed and would give time to listen to you and would go out of the way to help patients. Practice management team, receptionists are helpful and accomodative.I am lucky to be a patient of this surgery.

I am pleased that the team were able to recognise the urgency of my condition and were able to arrange an emergency same day appointment and have been kind and supportive over many years . For these reasons we are happy to be patients at this surgery

The receptionist was very kind and helpful. She went out of her way to ensure that I was offered a prompt appointment and welcoming when I arrived at the surgery. Her caring approach put me at ease. The doctor was thorough at examination and compassionate.

  8. Review titled Never able to see a GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Connie ABELA - Posted on 26 October 2022

My daughter is 11 years old and suffers from severe allergies and eczema. I have phoned the GP at 7.58 everyday this week to get an appointment. On hold for an hour each time to then be told that there are no appointments. I am complaining to CQC. I explained that her skin is beginning to get infected and the last time this happened she was in hospital with scepticimia. Receptionist showed no care and offered an extended hours appointment at another surgery on Friday at 7pm. Her excuse was there GPs on holiday. Knowing that there will be a shortage due to GP holidays and an increased surge of appointments due to the half term holiday, you would assume that they would have organised to get agency GPs or be proactive to find ways to support their patients.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. We have limited on the day appointments and the demand for these is very high, especially in Autumn. I can see from the records that your child was given an appointment on the day you wrote your feedback on Wednesday 26th October. The receptionist offered you an appointment with our enhanced access service, which is provided by our Primary Care Network, this is a service the Doctors House working together with 7 other GPs in Seven Kings provide in Seven Kings Health Centre. If you have an emergency, you can also contact 111, and if they deem it appropriate, they can book you directly onto our appointment system as they have a number of appointments allocated to them. We have increased the number of receptionists we have to answer calls and advised patients to keep their calls to 5 minutes as long calls directly impact the time other patients need to wait for. We did have a doctor on holiday, and the doctor sessions were covered by Locums. We had another doctor off sick and was unable to get cover for her on the day as locum availability during half term is reduced significantly. Regards Practice Business Manager

  9. Review titled Really bad practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2023

I started the registration process with Doctors House early Oct 2022 and in Feb 2023 I was still chasing for confirmation. No one seems to ever answer the phone, the phone rings and rings. I walked into the surgery several times to enquire about my registration and again no one was able to provide helpful answers and then promised someone would call me back, but they never did. It is now the middle of April and I need a repeat prescription for inhalers so I went back to my old gp to request this but they said my record was inactive. I wasn't aware of this. This means that the duty of care from my old gp had been discharged and the new Doctors House surgery had failed to register me in a timely manner, so I am left with no gp at all. I am advised by the old gp surgery to call 111 to obtain the inhalers I require. I have also been on the phone again today to the Doctors House and the receptionist said I needed to complete a new form as they did not have or had disposed of my application, and they were not able to explain why. Its all very inefficient. She claimed to have called me several times but didn't leave a message, go figure, why would you not leave a message!? I find this GP surgery really really poor, its a shame I had to move to a different practise, as the old gp was brilliant and very responsive and helpful. It has become very frustrating, tiresome, tedious and time consuming in what should ordinarily be straightforward process.

  10. Review titled Worst practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2022

    - no proper channel to contact them - no email available to contact them, never pick up the phone at anytime of the day. When you walk up to the surgery receptionist are just talking among themselves and phone keeps ringing. - don’t want to issue prescription medicines that they are available over the counter so buy it even when you are eligible for free medicines. - I feel doomed with this surgery as nobody really wants to help
