Trying to get an appointment is a nightmare, after you have explained to a receptionist (who is not a doctor) that you need medication, two weeks for an appointment is ridiculous, not much difference to get a telephone appointment something needs to change in this surgery

I called at 16:00 on 17/02/2025 to make an appointment for my son, gave his name and DOB and was informed no availability. I called 111 and they informed me to go immediately to a walk in clinic at Redcar hospital - which we did and waiting 3 hours to see a doctor and i am so glad we did as my son has a chest and lung infection and was given Penicillin for a week and told to stay off school. My comment/concern here are i wrongly thought you would fit children into your surgery to be checked over and i was wrong and your service is not accessible for children.

I was asked by southtees hospital to get bloods taken before i come for my app at my local GP which is the garth, i rang them 6 days before my hospital app to be told they will not fit me in, bloods take a maximum of 2 minutes not only that they would not try and fit me in every time i have been the waiting room is always empty which means they are far from busy, receptionist is a handfull she does not ask if she can get you in you just get a blunt no appalling service.

Dear Liam I are sorry that you are unhappy with the service we provide - all calls are recorded therefore we have been able to listen back. We are extremely busy and unfortunately we were not able to offer an appointment the following morning / morning after for phlebotomy for an appointment due in secondary care. The receptionist offered you an evening appointment which was not suitable for you. Phlebotomy appointments may seem short to the patient however there are forms and information to be recorded onto the clinical system plus we need to ensure that bloods that are requested by hospitals go back to the consultant making the duration of that appointment longer than 2 minutes. The waiting room does have quiet periods depending on the time of day and the numbers of clinics running at any specific time; also we try very much to run to time so patients do not have to wait too long. I am happy to discuss this further if you require any further information on 01287 632206 Practice Manager
