Review titled Awful service

Following a pre assessment via phone call today for a endoscopy on the 28/2/25 I was informed that I cannot have a chaperone. I explained to the person taking my assessment the reason for asking was due to my ptsd. I was refused this. No reason given. As per the nhs own guidelines due to my ptsd I should have been offered a chaperone and every patient has the right to have a chaperone attend appointments and procedures with them. I did not feel the man talking to me took my mental health serious in anyway.

Dear Patient I am sorry that your pre-assessment telephone call has left you feeling upset; it is also very concerning to read your comment that you felt the nurse you spoke to did not take your mental health seriously in any way. All patients are welcome to bring a family member, friend or carer to their endoscopy appointment, but they may not enter the procedure room. This is common practice across all endoscopy providers. Whilst patients can request personal chaperones for GP/Nurse appointments and examinations which may take place during these consultations, an endoscopy is a medical procedure and therefore it would be inappropriate for anyone, other than trained professionals, to be present within the procedure room. I apologise if this was not made clear to you during your telephone call. The role of a chaperone is to be there for the patient. Their function is to be sensitive and respect the patient’s dignity and confidentiality and to be alert to the patient showing signs of distress or discomfort. This can best be carried out by our trained members of staff. However, all of our staff will act in your best interests whilst you are in the procedure room; they will talk you through the procedure, answer any questions you may have, provide support and reassurance and, of course, hold your hand if this helps you doing the procedure. One member of the team will also be the named Privacy and Dignity Champion for that clinic. We do fully appreciate that endoscopy procedures can be daunting for patients, but I hope this reassures you that we will do everything we can to ensure that your overall experience within the endoscopy unit is a positive one. All of our calls to and from the surgery are recorded, and therefore if you would like us to investigate your concerns further then please contact the surgery on 01977 610009 and ask to speak to Rianne Norton.

Called in today to make an appointment, expecting a long wait. Was given an appointment 2 hours later at one of the sister surgeries. Was then seen promptly (early, even!) and my issue was dealt with thoughtfully and efficiently. My worries eased and a solution provided. Thank you!

Just a sincere thank you: My blood test scheduled for 7 June was cancelled on 6 June. I phoned to ask about another appointment in the near future (recent history of very low Hb level), was offered 8 June (a Saturday, meaning no doctor's assessment until Monday), then a 'blood form' to take to Pontefract hospital (which I accepted), and then a further call offering me an immediate appointment at KInsley. This means that if there's a problem, I'll know tomorrow instead of Monday. Again - thank you.

Thank-you for taking the time to provide positive feedback following your recent contact with the surgery. I am sorry to hear that your blood test was cancelled at such short notice, and for any inconvenience that this caused you, but I am pleased to hear that you were offered a further appointment so quickly. Once again thank-you for comments – they really are very much appreciated.

My wife made a telephone consultation for Wednesday afternoon. No one phoned her on Thursday morning she rang to find out why. She informed she was down as a no show. My question is who was the no show.
