    I want to share my experience today of my GP surgery which is a very positive one. I called at 8.00am as needed an emergency appointment today. I was number 29 in the phone queue but given an appointment at my surgery for 11.00 with my own GP. The call handler did ask what my emergency was so I explained and a note in the surgery explains that they will ask your symptoms in order to direct patients to the right source of help. I was called in to see the Dr 25 minutes after my appointment time, but the surgery waiting room was more full with patients than it normally is. She immediately prescribed the antibiotics I needed for my UTI and as usual was professional but friendly enough to put me at ease. It is good that we now need to wear masks in the surgery, but 2 patients weren’t wearing them. However masks aren’t expected to be worn in my local chemist, but perhaps chemists need to follow suit? However also on the surgery board was a note to say that about 237 people had missed their appointments last month alone! Some of these may have had valid reasons but shame on those who just didn’t bother to turn up when someone else could have had their appointments. It’s people like them that are a hinderance to our NHS. This is what I have shared on my Facebook as I was so impressed with the care and attention I received today at my surgery (Fitznells Manor).

    Having found a lump in my breast, I called the surgery and was immediately given an urgent appointment with a female doctor the following morning. Within a hour of seeing her, I had received a call from NHS Referrals to say I had been referred to the Royal Marsden. As I had previous treatment at this hospital, I also rang the Marsden an hour later, to be told my referral had already been received and I was verbally given the date to attend clinic. Given the Royal Mail delays, the referral letter took 5 days to reach me, so I was relieved to have known the date of my appointment so quickly. Thanks to all at The Old Cottage Hospital for their prompt action in referring my case to the Royal Marsden. And the good news is, that my cancer has not returned!

    Really caring doctors who listened to my concerns about my children and my worries about my skin rash. They always take time to listen and the reception tea. Has also been improving.

    I have a diagnosed cardiac condition which is managed well, but on this occasion I was experiencing symptoms that had not had before, so became worried and requested an appointment. No problem - appt. made for that day - GP listened to me which when upset & concerned was what I needed, explained the reason for the new symptoms, reassured me, provided good advice, he made me laugh when I was explaining some issues which cheered me up, the time did I suspect over-run, but GP didn't rush me, reminded me of what it was like years ago when visiting the doctor. Thank you!!

    Even though it was an out of hours surgery I had no problem obtaining an appointment as soon as I described my concern. I was dealt with kindness and patience and although in tears on arrival I left surgery feeling reassured, happy and content. Thankyou!!
