  1. Review titled Uncontactable

Rated 2 stars out of 5

It seems they have removed the option of booking appointments on the NHS app, so the only way now is to ring to get an appointment. And as other reviewers have said, don’t bother. I already had to go to the surgery to register for the app, taking proofs of address. Now I’m told I have to do it again. Receptionist tells me that even with the new systmonline, I won’t be able to message the GP via the app (a service other GPs do offer) because “there would be too many messages to deal with” i.e. throttling the service via the telephone. Please do better. The care is otherwise excellent.

  2. Review titled Available appointments - or lack of.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I rang yesterday for an appointment for my 89 year old Dad. Initially rang at 8.00 a.m. got through and was no. 2 in the queue, i was still no. 2 in the queue 10 mins later so cancelled call as i thought it was not right not moving up. I rang again but phone busy for 6 more attempts, finally got through again. You are no. 2 in the queue - this message never changed for 25 mins i was holding, eventually spoke to someone and told no apts you will have to call 111. We rang 111, they took details then said someone would call back within next 7 hours. Luckily an hour later 111 returned our call - took full details again. They spoke to GP at our practice and we were told a text link from GP would be sent. By this time it was after 12 noon. Completed text link questions and returned awaiting a telephone call from GP. = no return call. Today once again rang GPs - no. 19 in queue, but the number did go down eventually to no. 1 in the queue. After over 25 mins holding I spoke to someone and was told no apts available only routine which would be in one months time. Explained about 111 yesterday and text form from GP being returned but nothing back. Offered a 2 min telephone triage call with GP at some point this morning. Finally got a call in reply to yesterdays text form and an apt given for later this morning in person at surgery. My 89 year old Dad is lucky that I am able to do this phoning around for him, but I feel sorry for the elderly having to try do this. The system is not fit for purpose. I know the staff try their hardest and can only book a set number of apts, but when the phone system is not working correctly (I was told they are looking into getting it changed), not enough apts available, being told by GP surgery to phone 111 who then after speaking to two different people 111 ring the GP surgery and speak to GP. It seems as though the surgery is over subscribed - how can you know one month in advance that you are going to be unwell? Maybe another new surgery is needed in the area to cater for the over subscription of patients. Why is it so different to years ago when you could get an apt same day or a few days later?

  3. Review titled Appalling Phone System

Rated 3 stars out of 5

There needs to be a better way of contacting this practice. I was just trying to cancel and rearrange an appointment, and I was on hold for 1 Hour and Ten Minutes. Surely there’s a better way of doing things?.. most people would just give up and not turn up for their appt - meaning a waste of one that could go to someone else?.. it’s just a terrible way of working, and so frustrating. Otherwise the staff and GPs are lovely.

  4. Review titled Detailed and supportive care

I have been supported to better manage my blood pressure by a clinical pharmacist. She has been detailed, well considered and thorough in her support for my chronic condition. I would thoroughly recommend her as an outstanding clinician in an extended role

  5. Review titled Receptionist Response to Inquiry

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen Swanton - Posted on 10 February 2025

I rang you this morning in response to an issue with her sister Surgery. After over an hour on hold at the sister Surgery and the phone cutting off, And travelling to said Surgery to be dealt with, and not receiving a satisfactory information to my request or any interest in my issue, I called the Sister surgery Spoke to the receptionist who even though does not deal with me As I am at the other Surgery, she sent a E link to me So I could request a another fit note. She also told me of other surgeries that I may be able to join as unfortunately the surgery I am with at the moment does not fulfil all my needs with response times On the telephone ( An hour on hold and only being number four in the queue is not acceptable in my opinion )or reception enquiries Face-to-face as the receptionists seem to be under enormous pressures unfortunately. Although the doctors are Fantastic, And I am just getting my feet under the table and they have been really good, I need to know that I can call the Surgery, Be dealt with it in a reasonable time, and when face-to-face with a receptionist, or on the phone to one, All my Issues will be dealt with In a professional manner. Thank you to the receptionist at LS18 Surgery For listening to my issue, being supportive of my concerns, and even though you are not my main Surgery, you actually assisted me, and gave me constructive support to be able to do what I needed. You were very professional, very supportive, and very informative. I know that surgeries are snowed under at the moment and everything can be difficult, but you have raised the Bar and made things reassuring for me. thank you Very much. J It is a shame I cannot be at your surgery, But thank you for the information you gave me and I shall be searching further afield in my goal for Surgery that can be front of face with patient care like yours.

  6. Review titled Fantastic Servixe

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This morning I had called the surgery to explain a situation regarding a student self harming that was not registered there. I am registered at the surgery. They helped me through the required steps and after a temporary registration they were able to have this student assessed. This made a massive difference to the next steps and without their help and professionalism we would have been left isolated. Their help was really appreciated.

  7. Review titled Poor service today

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2025

Been struggling for around 8 months with an unresolved issue that’s got quite a bit worse. Had a doctors app last Friday but since then my pain has become really difficult to manage in my pelvis and abdomen. I just wanted a quick phone appointment with a doctor to outline the timeframe for the scan she referred me for, and to ask a few other questions including is it worth going to A&E. The receptionist just wanted to refer me to 111 rather than check any of this. Tried this earlier in week. But really it’s the scan that’s needed. There’s no online service. Surely the online service is the way to go?

  8. Review titled Amazing care!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Claire Wilson - Posted on 23 January 2025

After a recent diagnosis of an incurable illness, found through the care and diligence of a GP at your surgery, I rapidly declined. I called the surgery in some distress last week unable to attend because of my condition, was dealt with by a lovely lady on reception (so patient and caring) who was going to ask the duty doctor to call me. Again, it was the same GP. She listened and assured me someone would be there to see me that morning. Not very much long after this a registrar and GP arrived to see me. He was amazing! I was in extreme pain, distress, worried, didn't know what to do. The registrar was calm, listened to me and what I was feeling (I was probably rambling!). He is such a gentle soul, he put me at ease straight away, he was clear when telling me what he was going to do while examining me, he checked everything he could at my bedside and determined that I should be admitted to hospital that day. True to his word, he went away to arrange this, called me straight back to let me know the situation and told me I was expected and what to say when I arrived at A&E. I cannot thank this man enough! Because of him I was admitted to SAU, then Ward 92 where I got the most amazing care. He will make an amazing GP and I only hope he ends up attached to our surgery one day. Please pass on my thanks to him, the GPs who helped me and your reception team. I feel people are too quick to complain nowadays and I have nothing but praise but for you all. Thank you Claire Wilson

  9. Review titled Dont answer phones

Rated 1 star out of 5

So far being on hold for 30 minutes saying position 5 in the cue so clearly phones are not getting answered. This surgery isnt alone in this shocking service but getting through and trying to get an appointment is a joke

  10. Review titled 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 5 star service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anne - Posted on 01 January 2025

I went to The Croft Surgery for an asthma review. I had never been to this practise before, it's the sister practise to where I usually go. It felt like a private practise. The Asthma nurse was so thoroughly amazing, she really reviewed my whole asthma history. She listened, recommended a total new medication, plus got me in to see a wonderful Dr, the same day. This Dr, checked through everything, she was so nice, caring, listened and explained. After around 7 years of my asthma controlling my life, I took the new medication last night. Slept 100% better. Next dose was this morning, its now 2.30 pm, seven and a half hours after this mornings dose. I haven't needed my reliver. This practice is amazingly good. Reception is a happy organised space, that made me feel safe and secure. After being cared for by Asthma Nurse and Dr, I got a cheery "Happy New,Year" from the Receptionist. As I said 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 5 star
