  1. Review titled Unpleasant and rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kaz - Posted on 28 September 2024

The receptionist is very rude ,there was an elderly lady trying to ask a question apparently the doctor told the lady to make an appointment for two weeks time when the lady told this to the receptionist, this the receptionist turned on the lady and was shouting at her saying this is not the way we do things here the lady said that the doctor told her to come out and make an appointment and with this the receptionist got up like a crazy person and said ,well I'm going into the doctor now cause she knows how things work here with that she jumped up and went in to the doctor and had a go at the doctor and the came back out started hava a go at the lady.I have never in my life seen anything like it ,the receptionist was the most rudest and unprofessional person I have ever witnessed all the other people that was waiting to see the doctors were horrified by her behaviour. This receptionist should not be working with people she has no compassion and it looks like she hates her job. From what I witnessed here yesterday I told my friend she should leave this GP I don't know what the doctors are like but if they are 5% as bad as the receptionists I would rather go to a vet.

I also had some contact with Dr today he really was so supportive he really showed that he cared just when I needed it just what a Dr should do. I was very down and he gave me hope and hope in humanity yet. Thank

  3. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

Sadly, this is the second time in 6 weeks I’ve been made to feel like I’m wasting my doctors time. I reluctantly made a second appt (after being told it was crucial for a doc to see me) and went all the way there, only to be seen for 20 seconds and be told to hold my nostrils and blow through my nose to unblock my ears after having 2 ruptured eardrums. I was complaining of crippling pain in my ears and consistent colds and was told that “it should all start getting better now it’s spring, just take these antibiotics” Last time I visit.

  4. Review titled Shambolic, disorganised service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 September 2024

Tried to organise prescription for husband, 3 phone calls, 2 in-person visits to surgery. In person receptionist was helpful, telephone receptionists total waste of time energy and space, too many people involved sending us in ever decreasing circles. Told we needed to bring paperwork in by telephone, turns out they already had it. Told everything was sorted out, it wasn't, received phone call from pharmacist who did a "review" of medication telling us prescriptions had been sent to our local pharmacy. Only one a prescription for a single item, instead of 5 had been sent! Went back to the surgery again, received apology from receptionist who organised a call from the Doctor ... a call that we are still waiting for ... spoke to telephone receptionist who made us repeat the saga ... only to transfer us to another telephone receptionist ... who made us repeat the saga again. This is not rocket science. It shouldn't be the responsibility for patients to have to keep chasing up basic functions of a GP surgery. As for the pharmacist who "reviewed" the information and overlooked issuing a prescription for 3 items discussed in a telephone review and one item contained in the information from the hospital and specifically discussed with the receptionist ... it beggars belief. This issue is not a lack of staff or resources, this is incompetence, pure and simple. I wonder how many other patients are being let down...

  5. Review titled econsult

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 February 2024

I am getting used to using the econsonsult form whenever I need to contact the practice, but would like to know why is it not possible to complete a form outside of office hours (eg weekends and evenings)? I understand that the form would not be looked at out of hours, but would like to be able to complete the form at a time convenient to me. I would be grateful if you could consider reconsidering this restriction and/or explain. Many thanks.

  6. Review titled Used to be a Great Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by PJC - Posted on 21 April 2023

Many of the key, personable, efficient staff seem to have left and many of those that remain seem obstructive, entitled and, sometimes, downright rude. They rarely listen, talk over patients and consequently waste a great deal of time pursuing erroneous assumptions, without employing proper diagnostic skills. In addition, given their rather obvious prejudice in favour of private medicine, some of the doctors are not suited to working in what was the world's greatest public health service. One even spent a great deal of the limited consultation time regaling my wife with her theories of why the NHS would be better in private hands. The move away from the building where all the services were under one roof has been an unqualified disaster. Appointments are like gold dust, speaking to a doctor is seen as a privilege and receptionists see their job as more akin to private security staff at the Bank of England than public servants whose job is to aid in the relief of suffering, when people are most vulnerable. To see what was a great GP practice brought down in such a short time is heart breaking.

Review titled The Northern Medical Centre

    Replied on 27 April 2023

Dear PJC We are very sorry to read about your recent experience with the Northern Medical Centre. We are sorry too that we were unable to remain in our previous location; the local health care system is working hard to find the Practice a location under one roof. In the meantime, we are continuing to work hard to deliver the service across two locations. We absolutely believe in the National Health Service, and we would like to find out more about the experience that your wife had. To this end, we would be very grateful if your wife could email the Practice Manager at northern.medicalcentre@nhs.net, following on from this we would be very pleased to speak to her. We're sorry if our reception staff seem obstructive; in order to manage appointment demand, we are using a GP led triage system, so we can prioritise appointment timescales based upon clinical risk/severity. This does necessitate the staff asking questions, the answers to which are passed onto the triaging doctor (the receptionists do not make any decisions about appointments), If there was any particular encounter with a receptionist which your wife found difficult, again we'd be very grateful if she could let our Practice Manager know. Most of our clinicians are very longstanding members of the Northern Medical Centre team; and there has been little overall change in this. It would be most helpful to us, as the clinical leads of the service, to gain a fuller understanding of your wife's experience. If she could contact our manager, one of us can arrange to speak to her. With good wishes, Drs Thakore and Yuen The Northern Medical Centre

  9. Review titled Worst practise I’ve ever had to use

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2023

In the past they have had the rudest reception staff I’ve ever encountered, not the lady today though. It was impossible to get face to face appointments for the last 2 years. They are now in a temporary building split in 2 sites which is less than ideal. Always late even when given an appointment 30 mins prior. Lastly was told the painful ailment would not be able to be treated on the NHS and was told to go private. Also have been waiting for referral on an ongoing issue for 2.5 years now. My doctor is aware I’ve had 8 operations for the same issue in the last 2 years but have been dealing with it at the GP for 3.5 years and they really went missing with regards to the disease I have. The doctor also lacked the human touch of asking how it was all going etc. When I enquired as to the state of the nhs my doctor advised me the nhs is broken and they don’t know what to do other than wait for privatisation. It breaks my heart to see the disarray that the once great institution is and has been for sometime now. Better healthcare in Europe 100%.

  10. Review titled Follow up to previous post

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2023

In the interest of balance. Post me writing the review I spoke with a lovely receptionist and the doctor called me to clarify a couple of the issues I was having. I still think the nhs needs massive help and I disagree with the decision but the above needed a mention in the interests of transparency and balance.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. All feedback is welcome and taken seriously. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed by your recent experience at the practice. We're pleased to hear that the situation was somewhat resolved (following your initial review) with a further call from the doctor. We would urge you to contact the practice ASAP to resolve any remaining concerns you may have. We understand that the practice currently operating across two sites is not ideal. Please be assured that this is a temporary arrangement and work is underway to move to a single location which is as convenient as possible to the Northern Medical Centre patients.
