Hi. I can't thank your staff for the help, care and attention i received when i attended for my Annual COPD Review on 24/02/25. I wasnt feeling to great when i left home and maybe in hindsight i should have cancelled my appointment. I will cut a long story short. The n urse who did my review realised i really wasnt well and called in a Doctor to come and see me, who after checking me over, immediately called for an ambulance to take me to the Respiritory Emergency Unit at the City Hospital. The nurse contacted my daughter and constantly checked on me as did the reception staff whilst waiting for ambulance to arrive. The icing on cake was when the Doctor asked me if i would like a coffee which she personally made herself. They also stored my mobility scooter overnight till my daughter could pick it up the next day. Just one last thing the ambulance team that came were also truely amazing. Thank you all so much. Xx

After being required to have a conversation with a doctor to procure a blood test for a particular issue the doctor called twice over a time period of 1 minute. I went into the surgery to advise I'd been unable to get to the phone in time and was assured the doctor would call me again that day. I then received a text advising I would need to rebook as the doctor had tried to call me multiple times during the day and had not reached me! I called the surgery to be told the doctor had refused to call again as he had met their policy requirements. I advised that calling for less than 1min at 8:54 and 8:55 does not constitute calling to try to get hold of a patient but smacks of ticking a box. I doubt many people still of working age could answer two such calls that quickly. Now I have to wait another 10 days until I can speak to someone. Whilst on paper this service may seem accessible if the relevant doctor doesn't allow time for the phone to be answered then the service is not fit for purpose.

Hi Valerie, Thank you for your feedback. It is always helpful for us to know what we have done well and the areas on which we need to improve. I am sorry that you have had a negative experience with the surgery today. Having reviewed our call logs I can see that the GP tried to call at 08:32 and then again at 08:54/5. Unfortunately, our policy is to try patients twice, and if they fail to answer on the second time then the patient is asked to rebook. This is in an attempt to offer an efficient service to all of our patients. We try and space the calls out, but this can often be difficult as the GPs have many demands on their time including face to face appointments, admin work and emergencies. When patients phone back requesting a further call, the GP will consider any extenuating circumstances, but will always prioritise clinical need. The staff are helpful, polite, listeners and take time to explain things in a way where I've been able to make decisions and feel confident I understand next steps. My health problems have been numerous across many different types of medical disciplines, no matter what I've been seen, been respected, felt and seen progress on getting to the bottom of my problems, be them short/long term physical or otherwise. Today it was about managing my Diabetes, to which I feel renewed, reinformed and ready to make transformative changes to improve my health. The Nurse took the time and took into account everything else I'm dealing with and came back to me with solutions and next steps for me to manage and beat this disease. I can't rate this centre enough, I've lived all across the UK and have had to register with many clinics, none have given me the attention and detail like this place has. I've quit jobs where they've asked me to move for work, because fundamentally, I need places like the Oaks Medical Centre to make sense and deal with the challenges I have. I rate this place 11/10 and hope the service, support and care never stops being as great as it is today! Thank you Oaks Medical Centre!

On 23.9.24 at 09.50 I saw my doctor who was very thorough and pro- active friendly and helpful. I will definitely use that doctor again.

Husband needed appointment. Called surgery and within 20 mins had a reply to see a nurse practitioner. Friendly,and efficient given diagnosis and meds to deal with problem. All in the same day. I admit I had misgivings on the new system but every time I have had the need to see a doctor I have been able to. My only concern is that I hope it’s not quantity over quality where care of a patient is concerned. I have always been treated very well by this practice and consider myself lucky! The adjoining chemist is amazing also, they are absolute stars! Well done to the oaks and bsb chemist!

Thank you for your kind feedback. I do however think you might have the wrong Oaks Medical Centre. We are in Beeston, Nottingham. I believe there is a practice in Birmingham with the same name who have an adjoining chemist with the name BSB Chemists.

I spoke with a number of staff from the practice on behalf of my 92yr old mother. Everyone I spoke with was polite and helpful, and the outcome was very much appreciated. A big thank you from both me and my mum.

As a new patient and on a large number of medicines I was nervous to change to The Oaks, however I was treated with respect and incredible efficiency and am totally at ease withe the practice..

I attended a clinic today for cervical screening. I was anxious about it as have a few other things on my mind too. The nurse was really kind and understanding and made me feel a lot better.

Very friendly staff, reception are really efficient at getting you seen by the most appropriate member of the team in a timely fashion, and the clinical staff have always been kind and great at sorting out whatever I have seen them about. Would recommend to any of my friends and family.
