I have recently undergone a painful spinal surgery which resulted in me being discharged from hospital on a controlled drug for pain. Over the past couple of months I have been able to converse with the practice/a Dr on a weekly basis to obtain such and create plan to titrate safely off the medication. This process has been made seamless by the practice and has assisted greatly in my recovery. Unfortunately the review rules do not allow certain individuals to be named, however you know who you are and I cannot thank you enough for putting up with me over the weeks!! Having been with the surgery for some 25ish years, at different locations I would like to take this opportunity to convey my gratitude and thanks from over the years. From receptionists/nurse practitioners/patient liaisons and a plethora of fantastic Drs the service has been wonderful! In a time where services are stretched, funding an issue and a huge increase in patient turnover this has remained. Keep on keeping on and a very big Thank You to you all from our family 😃

Rude receptionist Not professional..interrupting my conversation Always had previous gd feedback but this receptionist just seemed to mimic me laugh whilst speaking to her and not helpful

Although the wait for a basic appointment is over a month, once I get seen the care and attention I receive is first class. I saw a new Doctor for the first time on Friday 17 November and he was extremely helpful. I'm grateful for this practice and especially the good doctors and staff

We are delighted to hear that you are pleased with the care you receive from the Practice. The practice is proud of its excellent team of both clinical and administrative staff. The wait for routine appointments can at times be longer than we would like and you may like to consider using e-consult which is an online option that can be accessed via our website and is for non-urgent matters. The practice responds to e-consults within 48 working hours.

I was informed they no longer remove IUDs despite having so many doctors working there. Once again women health is not a priority. They do say they offer these services on the local council website. Waltham Forest has no separate sexual health clinic but I was asked by the receptionist to find one. Ignorance is not an excuse.

The practice was surprised to read your review. We do not feel that your rating is a true reflection of the care/services provided by it. The doctor who normally provides IUCD/coil related care has been unable to fulfil this role recently. The insertion and removal of IUCDs and contraceptive implants requires specific training that is not covered by normal GP curriculum. The practice has identified a clinical need and has secured training for one of the doctors: they are currently undertaking this but it takes at least a year to complete. In the meantime, contraceptive and sexual health services are provided by All East (https://www.alleast.nhs.uk). There is however a limited provision of clinics in Waltham Forest. We are not involved in their service provision, but you could contact them for further information on their services and clinics. Our practice has a predominantly female workforce (both management and clinicians) and we feel that we are sensitive to and knowledgeable about women’s healthcare. We are always keen to obtain constructive feedback and adapt our services accordingly. Please contact the practice on 020 8529 5543 and ask to speak to the Practice Manager if you would like to discuss this further. Please also note that the care provided by practice clinicians is governed by standard medical evidence and national guidelines. We cannot provide care and treatment that is not consistent with these.

I've been with this surgery for years. The staff and doctors are very good but 5 week to wait for a basic appointment is unacceptable! This has been going on for too long.

The practice is aware that there are occasions when appointment times are longer than we would like. We are offering more appointments than ever before (nearly 3000 in October 23). The demand for urgent/same day appointments is at an all-time high and this makes it difficult to set a balance of pre-bookable appointments and to leave adequate capacity for emergency requests. Practices are being encouraged to use online options, in addition to face to face and telephone appointments, to help them manage their workload. This e-consult facility can be accessed via our website and is for non-urgent matters. The practice responds to e-consults within 48 working hours. If requests are for urgent same day appointments, then patients should contact the practice by telephone. The Practice continues to ensure emergency requests are seen within 24 working hours. You are more than welcome to call our Practice Manager to discuss any concerns you may have.

We have been with this practice for several years now and have always found the doctors and staff to be helpful, friendly and efficient, going out of their way to be of service and offer advice. We highly recommend this surgery.

We are happy that you are pleased with the services provided by the Practice. We are aware that our telephone lines are constantly busy and we have recruited additional staff to help answer calls. Certain times of the day do tend to be busier than others and patients also have the option to use the e-consult facility via our website for non urgent matters. My elderly father, a patient at the practice, recently underwent a brain trauma for which he is now recovering at home. I asked the Practice for help with his medication, which is substantial in volume, upon which Dosette Packs were advised. This was a logical solution as well as the suggestion of a different chemist to administer the medicine This has been resolved quickly and efficiently and more so as have been able to converse alot more quickly by email. I am nothing but happy and content with the service recieved from the Old Church Surgery

My wife and I booked a Flu vaccination at the Surgery for 12.01 0n 30 Sept 2023. On arrival there was a queue as many people had also booked to have their Flu vaccinations. The reception staff members were cheerful, caring and friendly. The helpful efficient manner in which names were cross checked with bookings enabled patients to quickly move to receiving their vaccinations. The entire process was was well planned and carried out with amazing care and kindness. We had our vaccinations and left the Surgery shortly after 12.07. We were very pleased with the care and efficiency of the Practice.

This is my third attempt to leave a positive review. Old Church Surgery treats patients, with kindness, dignity and professionalism. I have been a patient there for 25 years. I have a painful and come neurigical condition. They have always been supportive and helpful to me. Recently I needed a complicated request for a lot of medication to allow me to travel. They resolved this for me. I have nothing but praise for the team there who go the extra mile despite underfunding and endless top down directives. A very good practice which I unreservedly recommend.
