  1. Review titled Getting worse

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Steve Moore - Posted on 28 June 2024

After being refused a doctor's appointment yesterday by the receptionist, despite hospital advising I need to see a GP I booked on the NHS app. To prevent me doing this it has been cancelled by the surgery. Meanwhile I am missing work ill.

  2. Review titled Frequently Inadequate Standard of Patient Care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 June 2024

My 86 year old father, who is housebound, immuno-suppressed and in very frail health, requested help from a GP by phoning the surgery. He was told he would receive a call back from one of them. No one contacted him. The NHS website advice was that he required urgent treatment regarding his condition. Due to the surgery's lack of response he has not received this and his health has deteriorated further at a significant pace. An elderly gentleman with a medical record of serious, ongoing health problems should not be ignored and left struggling on his own without assistance, relying on a practice team who clearly do not care or know how to prioritise vulnerable patients in urgent need. This is by no means the first time that I have been appalled by evidence of this surgery's failures in patient care and I would never recommend registering with them.

Dear carer thank you for your feedback. It is very unusual for the practice team not to pass home visits requests on or for a clinician not to make contact after a request for help. It is really important you contact the surgery so we can ensure your father gets the medical care he needs and we can investigate your comments. Please do contact us. Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Tinny music

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Marianne Mullen - Posted on 22 May 2024

Can you consider swapping your tinny music to something more melodious. Today I tried to return your call, I was second in the queue, after 5 minutes I was 1st some 15 minutes later I got through. To no afail, your receptionist could not hear me as your so called music plays havoc with my phone. This has happened before due to the length of wait and said "music". Could you please consider changing the music and / or rebalancing the volumn of it? It is quite loud by comparison to your receptionist often soft spoken voice.

  5. Review titled Impossible to get appointments.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2024

Went into this doctors yesterday, empty waiting room. Tried to make an appointment but just fobbed off with "non available, try the NHS app" what's the point of having a doctors if you can't get to see one, might as well close this place down, can't even order prescription over the phone. Terrible practice.

  6. Review titled Inaccessible communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2023

I ran out of my prescriptions and needed to order more quite urgently. I called on a Friday and was told they don't do "triage" on afternoons and I would need to call 111 or call back on Monday morning. I had enough for the weekend so I said I would call back on Monday. I called on Monday and was told they don't do prescriptions on the phone anymore and I would need to do it through the NHS app or come to the surgery in person. I said this was not something that could be done on the app I had already looked through it. I was told I would have to come to the surgery in person. I am a multiply disabled person, it is not accessible for sick and disabled people to have limited communication options be able to sort out prescriptions, and to be told they have to come into the surgery to do this, when you may be at work, in a caring role or actually ill.

I am sorry you are unhappy with the level of service provided. We have a high level of demand on our services and within an hour of opening we have in excess of 100 request for same day access and appointments. We are working hard trying to recruit more GPs and have increased the amount of staff we employ. Reception staff do receive a lot of verbal abuse and we closely monitor telephone calls for training and quality purposes.

  10. Review titled Awful receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Steve - Posted on 17 March 2023

Most unhelpful person I have ever had the displeasure to meet. If I ever do see a trained medical person they are excellent but virtually impossible to get past receptionist. Only option is to go to A &E and prevent a real emergency case from being seen. They want a pay rise but don't deserve a bean

Dear Steve thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you are unhappy with the level of service provided by reception team. We have ten receptionist working across both sites and in most cases they do a very difficult job very well. They do receive a great deal of verbal abuse from patients especially when we are struggling with demand on our services. We record all our calls for training and quality purposes and I would encourage you to contact the Practice so we can investigate your feedback. Jo Cameron is the Practice Patient Service Manager and it would be helpful if you would contact her at Fawdon. We are experiencing a high level at a time where we are trying to recruit more GPs and staff have covid related sickness. Only GPs in training posts have been involved in strike action within the Practice at Park Medical Group.
