Review titled Shocking surgery

In short the service is a disgrace and the fact that on 2 occasions I was not able to get an appointment for my son back in Jan 24 when he was 2 years old and then again this month at 3 year old. My son was poorly and wanted him seen my a doctor to be told that they can book him in for 2 weeks time which was extremely unacceptable and appalling. The most recent was a week ago when I was on hold since 8 and was told that I could stay on the line or hang up and I would be called back in the same position - this never happened I called back to explain my son was ill with a raised temp and vomiting etc. I was told there was no urgent appointments and if it’s serious call 111. When I called 111 at 5:30pm they informed me a doctor would call back in an hour. I did not get a call back until 1:55am!!!!!! I called the survey again the next day after being on hold 24 in the queue to be cut off when I eventually got through they said that there was no appointment for my young son under 5. My option was pharmacy, 111 or urgent care. The receptionist was extremely rude and not very empathetic considering I have been trying to get an appointment for the last 2 days for a young child. When I went to urgent care I was told my son had tonsillitis. Then for myself I had to go A&E due to my BP any rocketed. I was informed by the hospital this get an appointment with my GP to change my meds to be told I couldn’t and had to be booked in. I had to explain the level of seriousness I endured over 2 days at the hospital and was adamant that I needed to be seen. I am extremely disgusted with the poor service.

Review titled My surgery does not believe diabetes is serious
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Informed by the receptionist in person that the form required to have a blood test would be ready in time for my blood test (test for glucose level) which was a fortnight away. She could see from my records that a blood test was required as the lab ruined my last sample. However when I arrived I for my blood test, no form was printed, no form was available on the system. Appointment has to be cancelled, having taken the morning off from work. A second issue with this practice, when told in April this year I had just crossed the line in being diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes, why was I not informed about changing my diet or going into the NHS Soup and Liquid diet programme to tackle type 2 diabetes, but instead I was put on Metformin. Are doctors and nurses at GP surgeries aware of NHS programmes. Better communication is required.

Review titled Awful service and getting worse

E-consult form is only available to use during office hours, no good to working people. They make a telephone appointment for you and fail to call. Never reply to prescription requested. Fail to tell you when a scan has been returned as not-proceeding. Really awful service.

Review titled it is so bad that it is dangerous
Rated 1 star out of 5

i have now tried to get an appointment twice this week. despite being number 16 on the queue there were no appointment's left and yet the receptionist still insists in establishing a diagnose despite me not being medically qualified. I only managed to get a 'emergency' appointment which is a telephone appointment on the second 2 day where the receptions actually assumed my diagnosis. this is dangerous because if they are not medically trained how can they diagnose me and even decide whether i can see a doctor or no? there needs to be more transparency on the booking system and the options of appointments should be clearly communicated patient, but it seems depending on the condition which can be assumed by the receptionist the patient may or may not receive medical care which is unacceptable. it is shocking and sad to see my local practice of over 10 years being so bad.

They tell you to call from 8 am to make appointments but you can’t get through to the receptionist as the phone is always busy or unavailable. This is the worst practice to get help from you may aswell go sis in a&e rather than trying to get a appointment here

Review titled Awful booking system

The worse booking experience you can possibly get for a GP. Called this morning for appointment at 8am, after 264 call backs, I get through at 8.15. The receptionist asks for d.o.b, name and the issue. Once i advise the issue they offer an telephone apt from a nurse who can book me an appointment. I ask are there no appointments left as its only 8.15am? Receptionist says I'm booking you an urgent telephone appointment, she will book you in. I say do you have any appointments with a Dr for today? she says I'm booking you a telephone appointment. I say I understand but are there no appointments left? and she replies oh just come in at 11.55, I say thank you and she puts the phone down. Receptionist are not medically trained. they should not be asking any patients what their issues are as they are not trained to deem an issue urgent or non urgent. It seems my issue was deemed not urgent enough for a Dr's appointment only a telephone appointment even when there were appointments available to book. If an appointment is available to book with a dr why was I offered a telephone appointment from a nurse, the receptionist are not medically trained so how are they able to decide between urgent and non urgent? Issues should remain private and confidential between patient and medical staff, not a member of the public with a job in customer services. This practice should advise all its non medically trained staff to stop asking patients their issues as they are not trained to ask or answer about medical issues! So when you call and your offered a telephone apt, the receptionist has deemed your issue not urgent enough to book the available apt that is on the screen in front of her.
