Review titled Very slow doctors
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 September 2024
Disappointing customer service skills from the doctors here - very slow, even first thing in the morning. They knew I was in a hurry, but I waited over 30 mins for a simple test result of ‘fine’, that should have taken 5 mins. Made me late for another appointment. Nurses, paramedic and reception staff very good though.

Review titled Blocking management
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 December 2022
Despite multiple attempts over three days I have been unable to book an urgent appointment for an increasingly debilitating chest infection/bronchitis I was referred today to 111 and told to call tomorrow at 8.30. When I have called this week at 8.30 there has been engaged tone followed by hang up. Voice message says line only open between 2-4pm . Yet when I called at 3.40 was told I had left it too late and all appointments are taken. Yet same operative said there had been very few calls this afternoon. How can all these things be true simultaneously? Previous visits ( rare) to the surgery have been to an entirely empty waiting room but a fully staffed reception office . What is going on. People wait until it's serious to call because it's so difficult to get through . Yet the surgery has been empty on several occasions and GPS only work NHS certain days of the week and no weekends or evenings . Need more GPs and fewer management who effectively block patients' access .

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your review. I appreciate your frustration and the difficulty you encountered when booking a GP appointment. Unfortunately the service has been overwhelmed by the current winter pressures combined with high levels of Strep A and Covid outbreaks. Despite us recently recruiting two new doctors, a nurse and more admin staff, we have still found it incredibly difficult to meet this substantial strain on our service. The engaged tone marks that we have reached 25 people in the queue at one time. Our administration team (reception staff) play a key role in coordinating care for patients. In regards to your comments on our quite waiting room, this is a sign of good infection control and management of our appointments system which also consists of many telephone appointments. As a safety net we do have to advise patients to still follow up with services such as 111 when we have reached capacity. I am not entirely clear on your comments in regards to our telephone system, which is clearly not only live between 14:00-16:00. Our lines open at 08:30 and are functional until 18:30 with a 45 minutes break between 13:00-13:45, Monday to Friday. The surgery provides ‘extended hours’ care every Wednesday between 07:00 -08:00 for pre-booked appointments and remote GP appointments available mostly every Saturday between 08:45-13:00. This information and more is available on our website www.petworthsurgery.co.uk . The surgery always welcome feedback and take constructive suggestions on board. I hope this response has been useful to you and helped clearing up your concerns. I would, however, would like to ask you to contact us directly in the future should you have any further concerns. You can email petworth.surgery@nhs.net FAO: management. Best regards, Andrea Amos-Sebestyen Assistant Practice Management
