  1. Review titled Simply excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by J Robinson - Posted on 14 June 2024

Just cannot fault this practice. The online facilities are excellent, always a timely response. I submitted and online query for the GP yesterday, received an email response within 5 minutes. Called today to make an appointment for a blood test and got straight through to a receptionist. All booked! I hear so many terrible stories from friends about their experience at other practices and feel so fortunate to be registered with the Ridings. All staff polite, helpful and kind. Please keep up the incredible work you all do!

  2. Review titled Quick Response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I completed an online consultation via the Florey website. I received a phone call within about twenty minutes offering me an appointment with one of the ACPs within the hour. He was so reassuring and completed lots of checks on my lungs, oxygen levels etc. he was able to confirm that I had a viral chest infection and offered advice on pain relief and managing the awful cough that I have had for several days.

Don’t go to the surgery very often as most of my care is at Castle Hill.I needed an appointment for a persistent cough, phoned at 2.30,online form completed and returned, phone call 10 mins later and appointment at4.10 made. Seen on time and antibiotics prescribed home by 5pm.Couldn’t have asked for anything more so thank you for a great service.Saw a paramedic who was very professional and helpful. Not sure what people are complaining about.

  4. Review titled Disappointing on many aspects

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Michelle Goddard - Posted on 02 June 2024

My son is disabled so I manage his affairs for him and I also work full time. I used to be able to make his appointments online at a time the suits us both unfortunately they have now introduced a new system where you ask for an appointment and they will then ring you to decided if you can have one. As a school teacher I cannot answer the phone and my son will not answer a phone due to the nature of his disabilities. I tried numerous times to make an appointment on his behalf explaining that if they ring I would be unable to answer. Three times they called me and three times I then received a message stating that as I had not answered the phone my request had been cancelled. After emailing them to explain again they finally made my son an appointment when I was unable to attend with him for three weeks later. For three weeks we prepared him for this appointment and got him to write down what he needed to say. On the day he walked into the surgery and told the doctor he has written a list. The doctor then told him he was only allowed to read one thing off his list as he only had a 5 min slot so was sent away without dealing with the issue he went for. This surgery needs to take into account that some if us have jobs and that disabilities need to be accommodated for. The administration team were contacted numerous times yet failed to read and understand my request and the GP needs training on how to support individuals is the autistic spectrum. Please bring back your old online system as this actually worked!!!!

Thank you for taking the time over the phone to discuss the issues you have experienced. As mentioned the new triage system is here to stay and we are keen to tell everyone the best way to use and access the service. If you can't take a call not a problem we will drop you a message. Please reply to the message either with when you are available or reply back that you are unable to take a call but state what time you would be available to attend an appointment . We often book these appointments without speaking to the patient and this can be done via text. That is one of the benefits of the system. GPs for a number of years have had a one problem rule for appointments, as you only have short time. With the new appointment system, appointments are easier to access and many things can be dealt with without seeing a gp. Please give us as much information as possible and we will try and book you in with the most appropriate clinician or the Triage Gp may be able to help without seeing you. Let me know if you have any further problems and I would be happy to give you a call. Kind regards Rebecca Rowe Head of Systems and Estates

  5. Review titled Kind and friendly team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katie - Posted on 20 October 2023

I visited the surgery recently for appointments to do with my health and my baby's. At first I felt a little anxious taking my newborn into my appointments, but the doctors have always been kind, welcoming, and made me feel complementary at ease, saying I could hold my baby, feed her, or do whatever I needed during the appointment to be comfortable. For every appointment I have attended recently, the doctors have really listened to my concerns and needs and ensured I was thoroughly informed about options and the medication that was prescribed. It's clear the GPs take great pride in the service they provide and really care about their patients. I thank the team for their fantastic work!

At a time when they say getting an appointment is difficult, this practice responds same day every time I have used them and same day appointment for a non urgent issue. The acp took his time and didn’t feel rushed. Very good practice

  7. Review titled Proactive Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2023

Really pleased to be invited to have my flu jab early, September, then after having the jab on the 8th was offered the COVID autumn booster. Fantastic to be given the COVID jab so early, most surgeries are just beginning the process on the 11th. This surgery is proactive with preventative injections, I have previously been offered the shingles jab and a pneumonia jab while attending for other matters. I'd never even heard of the pneumonia jab but gladly accepted. Really happy with the service I receive from The Ridings, from the receptionists (aka care navigators!), to the nurses and GPs they are all caring and totally professional.

  8. Review titled Very poor telephone answering

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 June 2023

My husband has high blood pressure and it is not helped when he received a text message from the practice to call them asking him to make an appointment regarding his blood pressure readings. He could not get through and was placed at 50 in the queue. This eventually went down to 30 in the queue, then 18, next 15 and then back to 50 in the queue. This took a lot of his time up. He was enraged to say the least at having to go to the back of the queue so he hung up. How can this happen? There clearly is something wrong with their phone system. To begin with there are so many messages relayed over the answer phone, many repeated at some stage, before one can even reach the queue! My husband took his blood pressure reading immediately after hanging up and it was through the roof. This is so frustrating. He called again later that day and eventually after another long wait reached someone who clearly was not trained to be a receptionist because she didn’t even know the surgery’s email address. He explained that he had been asked to make an appointment via a text message and was given a date one month ahead. This seems unjust. Bottom line: Text messages cannot be replied to and having to wait in a telephone queue is like been addresses at a call centre of an insurance company, not a medical practice. The practice needs to address their phone system to enable the call to be answered in a timely manner, lessen all the repeat messages and make sure no one is sent to the back of the queue during this ridiculously lengthy wait time. People cannot be expected to wait so long in a phone queue. Other than the phone system he has been most pleased with the practice and the doctors who he has had contact with.

Thank you for taking the time to feed this back. I am so sorry to hear about the difficulties your husband had in contacting us. Our calls can be busy at times and we do have a limit of 40 queue which it very rarely reaches. We have up to 11 care navigators answering the calls at any one time so the call do go down quickly. To allow us to investigate whether there had been an issues on the system that day are you able to send us details to the practice email. It would help to know the date and time that your husband called along with the number he was calling from. Please can you email this information to the ridingsmedicalgroup@nhs.net and mark if for the attention of Rebecca. It may be something that we need to ask our telephone providers to look into if there is a problem with the call queuing. Once you are in the queue the number should always go down not up. We are looking into a call back system which we hope to have available soon to prevent patients having to stay on the line. Once again sorry that your recent experience wasn't to the standard we aim for and I would be happy to investigate if you send the details. Many thanks Rebecca Rowe Head of Systems and Estates

  9. Review titled Great advice and care

I would like to pass my compliments to the nursing team at the Ridings Medical Group. I recently attended the Brough surgery for my annual asthma check up. I received lots of extremely useful information and reminders on how to best manage my medication and health in relation to asthma. It was delivered in such a friendly and caring manner and I’m sure the advice given will keep me healthier. I’ve always found the nursing team to be friendly and helpful and always put you at ease. Thank you!

  10. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 January 2023

My child needed an urgent appointment after developing a rash. I had already sought advice from a Pharmacist and tried to treat at home, but the rash was spreading and she needed to be seen. I rang the GP surgery at Brough, was offered an acute telephone appointment which took place within two minutes of the initial call and was offered a face to face consultation with one of the ACPs (who was excellent) 45 minutes later. Brilliant service and I can't fault everyone in the team who helped. Thank you.
