  1. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have recently had reason to contact the practice and after explaining the situation to the receptionist a telephone appointment was arranged with A doctor . Following my consultation I was referred for a scan and further tests. The GP involved was very concerned about my symptoms and has followed through my tests etc. I haven’t met him face to face but he is the sort of GP we all need. Thank you for putting my mind at rest the doctor concerned and the clinic team

  2. Review titled Poorly managed

Rated 1 star out of 5

Rushed my mother to Doncaster Royal Infirmary as was unwell and suffers from COPD, doctor suspected heart failure and advised us to take her to GP for blood tests as waiting at A&E would take up to 7hrs. As it was early am we attempted to call the GP as it just opened. It took several attempts to even get a dialling tone, then spent the whole of the journey from Doncaster to Rossington just ringing! There was no queue just a constant dial tone no idea when or if would get an answer. Arrived at the practice reception where there was no-one at the desk I continued to keep the call running, during the wait for a receptionist where we could hear laughing and joking in the back of the office, eventually a receptionist came where we handed the notes from the hospital clearly requesting a blood test was taken and the reasons, to be told no one available on the day and next appointment would be the following Tuesday 5 days later or we could go to the Keepmoat stadium! I suggested we booked the appointment and that we would cancel if managed to sort in the meantime. I then drove my mother back to Doncaster during all this time clearly not well and increasingly distressed. On arrival at the keepmoat we were advised that nothing was on file therefore no bloods could be taken. I called Doncaster hospital who advised that the GP should have carried this out immediately and that they would ensure the system would be updated and having discussed with the doctor who my mother saw at the hospital, we were advised the Tuesday appointment would be fine unless there was a change in my mothers condition and to call an ambulance in these cases. Later that evening the GP called for a water sample but still wouldn’t do a simple blood test! Whilst the staff at DRI and keepmoat were fantastic I feel the Rossington practices management was extremely poor, clearly explains how so many appointments are not cancelled and patients are left extremely frustrated with the whole process. The staff were clearly not busy as they were laughing and joking in clear earshot of their patients which in our opinion was totally unprofessional.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service provided by The Rossington Practice. Unfortunately it is not the responsibility of the practice to carry out urgent bloods that have bene requested by the hospital. Any requests by the hospital should be documented on the universal blood request system (ICE) so that it can be viewed by other clinicians if you decide to attend another service for the blood test to be taken. We are unable to take blood samples after 12pm due to the collection times as bloods done after this time would be left until the next working day. All our blood tests are done before 12 pm to ensure same day collection so that it arrives at the laboratory on the same day. The other option would be to follow any advice given by the hospital clinicians to remain at the A&E Department to have the blood test taken whilst in their care.

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou. I see a lot of negative comments on general social media about Doctors surgeries, receptionists, appointments etc. I think you all do a wonderful job, you have really looked after me recently (and on the whole always have) and have been thorough and patient. I have sat in your waiting room and heard some of the calls the reception team have to tackle and they have my upmost respect. I always find the reception team friendly, helpful and kind. It's not always easy to pluck up the courage for someone to attend as you can struggle to articulate the problem, worry about wasting valuable time, looking foolish if there isn't actually anything wrong. The peace of mind you guys give, the understanding, rationality and the empathy shown is gratefully received, thank you Thank you to everyone for all you do, in the adverse conditions you do it in
