Review titled Extremely poor service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 November 2024
Good luck to anyone trying to get an appointment. I can't remember the last time me and my children saw a doctor. We are always given an appiontment with a nurse if we are lucky. It has come to the point whether any of us are now ill, I would rather not even bother to try and get an appointment. Lets hope none of us ever get seriously ill. The system is not easy to use especially when you are not feeling well and just want to ring up and make an appointment. Instead you are made to work your way through the online system completing all your information, only for no one to get back to you for 48hrs, if your lucky. It comes to something when I have had to wait 1 1/2 weeks for my blood to be taken after an appointment to seeing the nurse, when I want to see a doctor. Lets see how long it takes me to get my blood results back and then get an appointment to discuss my results. Something drastically needs to change. No wonder it takes hours at A&E, as no one can get appointments at their doctors. If I could afford to go private, I would.

Review titled Flu and COVID jab
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by C. Wood - Posted on 17 October 2024
On 11/10/24 @ 0914 I had an appointment for my Flu & Covid jabs. The nurse informed me I was not allowed tho Covid jab as it is for over 75’s only, unless you have certain illnesses, I am 66. I didn’t dispute this but thought it incorrect. I have today received a text message from the surgery saying I am eligible for the Covid jab. I don’t understand why I was told on my appointment I was not eligible. Please advise.

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Having filled an online triage form for knee injections in and being told theres a waiting list of over 100! Then ringing back after 3 wks to be told incorrectly that NHS England have stopped the injections and I can’t get them, when it’s just this particular practice not nhs England. now am seriously thinking of changing drs to a practice that does the injections. Disappointing as I’ve not had many problems with them up until now and when I need them I’m let down 🤷♀️

Having heard nothing following a hospital test over a month ago I have tried phoning today but have remained “caller number 14” for over 30 minutes. Pressing 1 for callback didn’t work . I rang off in case there was a fault only to find I was now caller number 18. This is unacceptable and new more efficient systems need putting in place at this practice. I will try again tomorrow.

Dear Mrs Newton, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the practice. The Online Triage form on the website is designed to assist you when requesting appointments. It can also be used to request information and advice from the Practice. Unfortunately, the online triage form is unable to access individual patient records. If registered for Online Services, you should be able to check the details of your current medications using Patient Access, or the NHS App. If you are not yet set up to use Patient Access, or the NHS App, please contact me via the complaints email address as I can provide some technological support; gmicb-old.rcfpcomplaints@nhs.net For information regarding your currently prescribed medications, please contact the Prescriptions Team either by telephone or email. The practice telephone number is 0161 357 2315. The prescriptions team email is: gmicb-old.scriptrequest@nhs.net Thank you, Claire, RCFP Compliments/Complaints Team

Review titled Terrible system and process, rude professionals
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 June 2024
The online triage system for booking an appointment is ridiculous and time consuming for patients. Waiting up to 48 hours for someone to contact you for an appointment instead of just calling to book an appointment is bizarre. You can only be seen to with one issue at a time, so if you have a couple of things, that may even correlate to another, you have to book multiple appointments to be seen to about one thing at a time. Absolutely ridiculous, time wasting and no doubt very costly. Appalling system. Most of the reception staff though are fair, friendly and professional. Working within the constraints of a ridiculous IT system and process, however some of the medical staff are very rude. Always unimpressed with trying to be seen here either for myself or even my children.

Had to use link despite going into the practice to make an appointment. Link gave me an appointment a week later with a nurse practitioner. It was agreed my mole needed to be removed and sent away for testing but the nurse would not look at any other moles I had vi cents about. Appointment lasted one minute if that. I was told I would receive an appointment for removal and the skin would be sent for testing. Just been back to the surgery as no news after ten days to be told I am unlikely to receive anything within the next six months. Not good enough. Plus, not particularly empathetic or friendly woman at initial appointment or on reception.

Review titled Triage system going to cost lives
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Brett Newton - Posted on 04 April 2024
On 25th March 2024 I phoned the surgery for an appointment approximately 1130 hours I pressed option 2 but was told I needed to go through Triage and someone would get back to me within 48 hours, I nexplained that I was very poorly and needed to be on medication ASAP and was told to try the out of hours number which I rang only to be told that all the slots for the practice had been taken! .I was then told to phone 111 which I did and eventually I managed to get to see a Doctor face to face at the icc in Oldham at 1945.The Doctor examined me and prescribed antibiotics and a course of Steroids which I took for the week ,yesterday still being full of the chest infection I phoned the appointments line at the family practice and explained that the medication had not worked and I was still suffering, the receptionist filled in the triage form for me and informed me that someone would be in touch within 48 hours, a short time later I received a text telling me to go to the diagnostic center on Salmon fields for a chest x Ray and following this to take a sample of my spit to the practice, on arrival at the practice with my spit sample I queued to see the receptionist and handed over my spit sample.I asked the receptionist if I could be given any further medication as I'd been told at the x Ray that the results would take a week or 10 days to be reported on, the receptionist said she would see what she could do. Nothing arrived so I've just phoned back to be told that I can't be given any medication until the results are back. This is a ridiculous situation as my chest infection could be much worse by the time the results come back. When I phone for an appointment on option 2 I expect to at least get a phone call from the doctor or nurse ,not to be told that I have to go through triage and wait a further 48 hours to get any help .It's obvious that this unneeded Triage system has been introduced to delay people getting an appointment and will cost lives as building in a delay to the system will make people suffer longer before they get the help that they need. Brett Newton.

Review titled No Empathy, No compassion
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2024
I have always struggled with my mental health from a young age, I was diagnosed with bpd last year. I have recently had an episode of depression so I called up Royton and Crompton family practice and tried to get an appointment which I was unable to, they were only offering over the phone appointments which isn't ideal with someone who is struggling mentally. When I have spoken to the Dr's at the practice they have had a lack of empathy and failed to do things such as referrals in an untimely manner. I have been on medication for my mental health for a long time and they would always say that I need to go to the psychiatrist to have it be changed which is fully understandable but when referrals for these services aren't getting done it puts care at a standstill. The most recent phone calls I have had have been a waste of time as they all tell me the same stuff such as sleeping better, eating better and getting exercise. This is all good in saying this to patients but when you have severe mental health it is difficult to even get out of bed in the morning. They have offered me no support whatsoever such as counselling. As a nurse myself I find that the care from the Dr's at the practice is disgusting, I would never expect anyone with mental health to be treated the way I have and I am sure if the Dr's was spoken to in the way I have they would also be disgusted. They obviously need some training in communication as this isn't the first time this has happened. If this was another patient this could have lead to a different outcome to where someone could have taken there life and this is what they don't think about. I felt worthless and feel as if they haven't listened to anything I have said to them as I have been struggling to sleep and eat even one meal per day. I was told to phone crisis teams which have also been a waste of time as they too have been no help and just told me go to A&E which I feel that it wasn't necessary. As for the receptionist they have gone above and beyond for me trying to get me in as soon as possible they should really be proud of themselves they are a credit to the practice.
